  1. 1. I personally think that factions will still largely exist; Dalinar will likely count more on the highprinces that aided him in fulfilling the Vengeance Pact, for starters. Therefore, it stands to reason that Aladar and Sebarial (both of whom were never very influential in the first place) will see themselves propelled into positions of power post-Everstorm. The ones who aided Sadeas will play along - but I doubt they'll like it much, so I see it as an 'united' Alethkar with problems buried within. 2. I think he could, but imho he'll go into hiding for the meantime; he was last spotted leaving the Shattered Plains with Taln, and Dalinar will put him on trial if he even as much as shows a single hair on his head. Remember, we're not talking about betraying a common, darkeyed soldier anymore; we're talking about betraying a storming Knight Radiant. So no, I'd be surprised to see him do so, unless he intends to set up an independent princedom. Watch out for Ialai though, that one will be trouble. 3. Considering his problems with lighteyes, I doubt it. He'd never take it. He might however, force someone else into the position and keep a close eye on said person to ensure that no abuse of power is done. 4. Likely, considering that Taln is darkeyed. 5. Not so sure about this, but if it does happen I'd love to see something come up between Kaladin and Jasnah; I can imagine the former being smitten by her elegance and poise. It'd be nice to see what he thinks of Jasnah's atheism too. 6. I highly disagree. In the epilogue, Dalinar was still calling Kaladin 'soldier', and it seems like the Bondsmiths were the leaders of the Knights Radiant, Heralds aside. It brings to mind the leadership of the Aes Sedai from WoT - they had a council, but also Ajah heads. I think Kaladin is mostly free to do as he wishes for now, but as the Knights Radiant grow in number Dalinar will start giving him (and his squires) tasks and responsibilities. However, I do wonder who will take up Jezrien's Honorblade. Syl may not like it, but right now, the Radiants need every Surgebinder they can get, and a second Windrunner would be massively useful. 7. Probably, as long as it's small enough. 8. I think Dalinar will be the public face of the Radiants, with Shallan being the head researcher working behind the scenes, while Kaladin will probably become something akin to a celebrity. Think of it as Dalinar = Yoda, Shallan = Jocasta Nu and Kaladin = Kenobi/Skywalker. Renarin may end up being a surgeon, due to his having the Progression surge (it would be amusing to see Kaladin teach him the ways of surgery, or dare I say Lirin?). To be honest though, I think what we're all waiting for is to see Szeth kick major chull with Nightblood in Stones Unhallowed. Surgebinder duels ftw!
  2. First of the Sun. That's an odd name, but intriguing. Thanks for sharing!
  3. Wouldn't mind it, but I can't access Steam atm, except through Steampowered.
  4. There's also another problem - I think it's related, I can't start new topics sometimes, and it's usually when my replies turn into that gibletish as well.
  5. Well, I *think* we have a WoB floating around somewhere the Hero of Ages taking up the power at the Well and thus becoming a proxy of Preservation by using the power to renew Ruin's prison, so I would say that the term 'champion' fits very well. Rashek wasn't always influenced by Ruin - and tbf even Vin was before her ascension. Alendi was too. The Well called out to Vin and Alendi because they were Allomancers, although it seems that you need to be of a certain power level to do so. It's implied that Alendi's piercings were Hemalurgic spikes in the manner of Vin's earring, which allowed him to sense the Well like nobody else could. So I'd argue there were three. Even if Rashek wasn't exactly what was expected, he did still take up the power and renew Ruin's prison. In the end, he was still fulfilling Preservation's purpose - and that's enough for me.
  6. Then yeah, it would be highly feasible. I think the MAG rules are more to balance the usage of duralumin, else it'd be too OP for a RPG.
  7. Creationspren are lovely, especially since I'm an artist. But I think my favorite is passionspren.
  8. Entirely possible, yeah. Still... does duralumin exhaust its own supply in addition to other metals'?
  9. To answer your first question, it actually isn't 'most of the relations', just mainly those that happened after the 'Final' Desolation, due to the Recreance. A Knight Radiant who dies naturally won't cause his/her spren much harm. How does it happen? Well, WoB compares it to someone installing a data jack in your head and then forcibly ripping it out. They're not actually dead; in a sense it's like lobotomy, and it just turns them into mindless blades. A Knight Radiant can 'resurrect' them by just holding a dead Shardblade, and WoB also has it that it's not impossible to fully restore them, although it's extremely difficult without the original Knight Radiant who broke their oaths. The listeners don't swear any oaths, they just bond the spren. Therefore, there is no potential hazard of oathbreaking, and any sort of death would have the same results as that of a KR.
  10. Vin wasn't a champion of Preservation; she was his heir. Very different meanings. As for Ruin, she wasn't his champion either, more a puppet like Zane was. He didn't exactly imbue any sort of power into them (spikes aside, but those were more for controlling them rather than giving them power). Think only Elend, Marsh and Rashek truly count.
  11. I have a new addition to the ketek family. Loveless and lost/the wanderer rides the storm/emotion storms/the riding wanderer/the lost and loveless. "Loveless and lost, the wanderer rides the storm; emotion storms the riding wanderer, the lost and loveless."
  12. I disagree with Vin being Preservation's champion, at least in how you seem to perceive it. She was more his heir, rather than champion; someone he groomed to take over the power when he passed on, rather than simply being a proxy. However... this is not to say we have not seen a 'champion' of sorts. The champion would probably be the Hero of Ages, or whoever took up the power within the Well of Ascension. Rashek would probably count as one. Vin... maybe, but considering how she released the power rather than keep it and renew Ruin's prison, not so much imo.
  13. It depends, really. If they're already big fantasy fans, the Mistborn series or the Stormlight Archive - it should be something they're capable of digesting. If you are trying to convert someone that's not already in love with fantasy... Warbreaker. It's free, it's not quite as action-oriented as the other novels (bar Elantris) and the magic system is literally beautiful.
  14. Perhaps nicrosil isn't necessary. All you would need to do is keep burning it nonstop. And a Nahel bond doesn't shatter your spiritweb, the spiritweb is cracked/broken/shattered by a traumatic event most of the time (sometimes it's the exact opposite). The Nahel bond then fits into the already-cracked parts. Think of it as being akin to kintsugi. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kintsugi
  15. Haha, I love how Adolin fumbled around with that question. Delightfully blunt and socially inept.
  16. Well, duralumin enhances one's Allomantic powers in a single burst. Considering that aluminium savants might be able to cleanse the body of unwanted impurities... perhaps duralumin could enhance your body's abilities and not just Allomantic ones? Although it would essentially be a mix of tin, pewter and a little bit of atium (specifically the enhanced mental capability). Or perhaps Observer is right, and by burning duralumin, you might be able to fracture your soul. Perhaps in such a way that you could then use other Allomantic skills.
  17. I'll admit it's rather flimsy, but it seems far too much of a coincidence. And I don't think worldhoppers actually need powers of their own - it's possible someone gave them a ride, much like how Shallan transported four armies to Urithiru. Also, an assassin doesn't actually have to be skilled in fighting. If you can appear nonthreatening, no one will ever expect an attack, and that is something both seem to be. Casual, nonthreatening, and ultimately more than they first appear to be. We'll need more information to clarify, for sure, but I think it's worth trying to ask how many worldhoppers we've seen from Scadrial so far.
  18. Hate the YA covers. Bring back the previous ones, please, where Vin actually looks like Preservation's heir and not another kid.
  19. "I will destroy those who threaten the innocent." - Could work for any of the orders that condone assassination. "I will explore paths yet untraveled." - A potential Willshaper Ideal, perhaps? "I will put the needs of the people before any other." - Potential Edgedancer Ideal "I will uphold even a law I disagree with, for I will put order before all else." - Potential Skybreaker Ideal, although I think it could be better phrased. And lastly, since Mistborn llamas exist... what's to say 10 orders of Surgebinding llamas couldn't? The First Ideal of the Llamas Radiant: "Drama before grammar, gossip before reason, pillow fights before coolheadedness." The Second Ideal: "I will seek out drama where there is none."
  20. They have to be paid in atium, true. But hey, they could function as servants during the morning, and during the night, well... Also having a prostitute paid in atium probably turns some people on. Like... "I can afford to pay for bedding you with the most expensive resource known to the Final Empire. I am powerful. I am irresistible. I own you." Brb lobotomizing myself
  21. Someone needs to firebomb this thread. The Division Surge would be very useful right about... NOW.
  22. Yeah, what Kythis said. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be impossible to get a Shardblade even if you're not from Roshar - Taln was sent to the Shattered Plains with a cleaver-like one nobody even knew existed until then.
  23. IMO, Jordan's worldbuilding was... meh. I'm not saying it wasn't detailed, I'm saying there really wasn't anything super special about it. It has history, sure, but (for me at least) it's never been quite as fascinating as Roshar's, even though Roshar's history has yet to be fully revealed.
  24. I think Kliss, the informant from Mistborn, could also be Liss the assassin. Both are described as being plump and having long hair, not to mention the similar names and the fact that both were involved in less... savory doings. Of course, the hair colors are different but she could well have dyed it. The only problem with this theory would be her eyes, which are apparently different from Roshar's humans, but considering how no one, Demoux aside has been noted to have different eyes it might not be super noticeable. What do you think?
  25. Entirely possible they could have chosen not to create a womb or functioning sperm cells, though.
