  1. Perhaps the metaphor with fishing involves luring people to their doom, or something along those lines?
  2. But do Jedi even have fast-working healing powers? Better than a Jedi, sure. Not necessary at the level of "curbstomps Windrunner".
  3. Ah, okay.
  4. We have, however, seen a Jedi (well, Jedi in training, but still) get his hand cut off. It got replaced with a mechanical one. I don't think a Sith would win so easily. Yes, Force lightning is powerful, but look at what Szeth was able to do with Lashings alone. A full Windrunner has incredible speed and strength, and can fly.
  5. Dai-gonarthis is known as the Black Fisher, so there may be something to do with fish. It might be the causing the plague in the Purelake area, although the plague makes me suspect that it's Re-Shephir. I think that there's probably an Unmade associated with the Everstorm and possibly just storms in general, with a name based off of Baal. It would have been able to provide the stormspren. WoB?
  6. Yes, it's difficult for a Radiant, but it's impossible for a Jedi.
  7. Well, it was partially a joke. Still, Windrunners are pretty powerful. Even if you discount Lashings, they can heal pretty much anything a lightsaber can do, and they're absurdly fast.
  8. Right, then it totally could have contained Moelach.
  9. Do we know when was the last time Szeth checked on it?
  10. This is my preferred theory. The Death Rattles started around the time that the Alethi found the Shattered Plains. If the Parshendi had trapped Moelach, but over the millenia had lost the sphere, it's possible that Gavilar could have found it and triggered Moelach's awakening. Initially, it would still be trapped in the sphere, and when Szeth brought it to Jah Keved the aura would be centered there. This would explain why there were so many Death Rattles in Taravangian's hospital. Eventually, it would get free and begin to move, in time for the Desolation.
  11. As I said once, in another thread: Shardblades. With a lightsaber you can get disarmed.
  12. The thing in the background seems like either a short story, or part of the second Mistborn trilogy. I feel like Kelsier would be referred to as The Survivor rather than Kelsier were it one of the Wax/Wayne books. As for the secret thing.... maybe a new Shardworld and a new series that he hasn't mentioned yet?
  13. Ruin is basically entropy, I think.
  14. Thank you too.
  15. The 17th Shard is clever and sly. To it, a thousand years are as the blink of an eye.

Yes, it is. "The Enemy is clever and sly, and to its anger and envy a thousand years are as the blink of an eye."

Oh, wow. That's pretty awesome. Where does that rhyme come from? A novel?

It's from the Deltora Quest series by Emily Rodda.

  16. In case anyone hasn't seen it
  17. Not necessarily. If Sazed had viewed them as inherently irreconcilable, they wouldn't have formed Harmony. Honestly, a pair of exactly opposite Shards seems like it would work the worst, compared to a pair that can form something new.
  18. Harmony was possible because Sazed viewed them as a coherent whole.
  19. In the vein of Chuck Norris Facts... Brandon Sanderson once made a magic system that was perfectly consistent and understandable. He never released the book, because it kept convincing people that they could fly. Brandon Sanderson has never confirmed nor denied that his ink can cure all wounds. Brandon Sanderson gives cookies to the Dark Alley. Brandon Sanderson has an Honorpen. Brandon Sanderson is waterproof. Once, Brandon Sanderson was having trouble writing a book, so he wrote the sequel without telling anyone.
  20. I suspect that it is technically possible, but prohibitively difficult. Each Splinter has its own Intent, which is a more specific version of the larger Shardic Intent. If you take multiple Splinters, they may not agree with one another. The Cognitive conflict would likely destroy the holder.
  21. Rosharan religion is actually really interesting when you think about it. You have the trope of the ancient religion whose scriptures refer to actual past events and whose gods are getting involved with the world... It's probably not as interesting as Warbreaker when it comes to religion, though. I think that Brandon seems to be exploring morality more than religion in the Stormlight Archive.
  22. I guess that works if you go with the title.
  23. Take Me to Church for Elend joining the Church? Doesn't really seem to fit. Take me to church, I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies/I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife/Offer me that deathless death/Good God, let me give you my life Seems a bit too dark. Jasnah: Frank Turner - Glory Hallelujah Dalinar: Two Steps From Hell: United We Stand, Divided We Fall WoR spoiler, kind of:
  24. Redwall's appeal pretty much evaporates above a certain age. It's good if you read it as a kid, but not as an adult.
