He's too busy to think reasonably about them. He doesn't have the time to fully consider them. He doesn't have time to stop and think.
-
True. I've edited the document with the information.

I didn't think it had been fully confirmed, but perhaps I missed something. I'll correct that.

Yeah, and how stable and reasonable does Szeth seem during that?

So I searched the Words of Brandon thread for RAFO, and compiled a list of the "yes/no" questions that have been answered, and their answers. I used Ctrl+F to find "Stormlight" and "Roshar" in the Theoryland one, but I doubt I got all the questions relating to the Stormlight Archive, unfortunately. There were a few that I believe have been answered but I couldn't find the answers to. They are: -Are the Heralds Surgebinders without Honorblades? (WoB said it was answered, but didn't have answer.) -Was the Shardbearer Kaladin killed Helaran? (I think this has been answered, but I might be wrong.) Ignoring those two, though, the answers for the questions I took down were 75% "yes" and 25% "no". Edit: Statistics changed because I added in the existence of the Cosmere, removed a duplicate question.

In the second battle, Szeth can't really stop and think. He's trying to convince himself that he needed to kill all of those people. He's in the middle of massive cognitive dissonance, and doesn't know what to do. So he sticks with what he knows and goes off to kill Dalinar.
-
But Szeth had an explanation, which was that Kaladin had an Honorblade. It doesn't matter that other explanations work better. People will go to extraordinary lengths to preserve their worldviews.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Shaggai replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
You know you're a Sanderfan when the crowning moment of your day is that someone actually considers joining a Sanderson-related movement you started. -
There are plenty of kinds of conspiracy theorists. 9/11 truthers, people who believe the government is covering up UFOs, etc.
-
That's because Kelsier would slit Kaladin's throat in his sleep. Kaladin is powerful, but he's constrained by honor. Kelsier can be as ruthless as he likes. In a straight-up fight, a Windrunner wins every time. Stormlight alone gives them Allomantic pewter, except significantly better, and Gravitation allows for similar (and sometimes even better) effects to Allomantic steel and Allomantic iron. Also, Windrunners have full control over their flight. Even atium might not be enough if the Windrunner just went up into the sky.
-
Look at all the people who deny that the moon landing ever happened, or claim that society is ruled by lizardmen. Now imagine what those people would be like if they were actually insane. People have an amazing capacity to ignore evidence in the face of their beliefs. Szeth isn't going particularly far, compared to some people even on Earth.

Abrasion also allows for extreme mobility. Imagine a warrior in Shardplate, sliding around at huge speeds while using a Shardblade and disintegrating stuff. Skybreakers seem like they would be more powerful, though, simply because they can fly.
-
Lightweavers maintained morale, at least. Whether or not they'll be able to do it this time is another question, simply because of the numbers. On the other hand, it's looking very likely that Odium will pick a champion, in which case they won't have to fight.
-
And Skybreakers get both Division and Gravitation. Seriously, that's powerful.

So when was this one: I’m cold. Mother, I’m cold. Mother? Why can I still hear the rain? Will it stop? -Collected on Vevishes, 1172, 32 seconds pre-death. Subject was a lighteyes female child, six years old. And this one: Ten people, with Shardblades alight, standing before a wall of black and white and red. -Collected: Jesachev, 1173, 12 seconds pre-death. Subject: one of our own ardents, overheard during his last moments And this one: Let me no longer hurt! Let me no longer weep! Dai-gonarthis! The Black Fisher holds my soul and consumes it! -Tanatesach 1173, 28 seconds pre-death. A darkeyed female street juggler. Note similarity to sample 1172-89. By your logic, they've already happened, and we've seen it. So when were they?
-
The Death Rattles show the future, and possibly the past or present in some cases. Not seeing it happen doesn't mean it isn't going to happen, or hasn't happened at some point when we weren't watching. If you only make a small, shallow cut with the knife, you can drain the blood easily.
-
There's no actual mention of how they drain the blood, so it's probably knives. Second, we've seen him in the context of the "hospital" for all of one or two interludes. We know nothing about what he has or hasn't done for the Death Rattles, and even less about what he might do in the future. Third, the Death Rattle may not even be from his perspective.
-
There is a literal child and and a literal knife. There are literal breaths, it's just not quite as set as one might interpret it. And Stormlight cannot be considered to literally be a feast.
-
A gemheart is not a literal heart. It does not pump blood. Nobody can eat Stormlight, unless they have the opposite of Lift's boon, and I wouldn't call inhalation "drinking". I don't inhale a glass of water.
-
We haven't really seen the extent of the powers of the other orders, except Lightweavers (and partially Edgedancers and Elsecallers, but not really). And sure, in a fight a Windrunner would beat a Lightweaver. But Lightweavers aren't combat oriented. A Windrunner can't create supplies, or disguise themself, or visit Shadesmar.
-
It "gives us further breath to draw" in that it means that humanity (i. e. "us") will survive longer. It's not fully literal.

the most useless uses for useful powers
Shaggai replied to king of nowhere's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Exactly. It's a Cognitive radio. -
That shouts Taravangian to me. I mean, he's working to preserve humanity through the Desolation. They may not know they want it, but everyone does want it.

Shaggai replied to king of nowhere's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Except that isn't how quantum entanglement works. Quantum entanglement, by its inherent nature, cannot transmit information. It's determined completely randomly. Spanreeds seem more like radios, or some similar thing. -
I'm not trying to devise plans to avoid RAFOs. I'm trying to squeeze as much information as possible out of the ones we get anyway.
