  1. Meh. The circumstances around this accusation are much different. If the evidence Wilson had presented was the same that she presented for Dani, then I would be much more reticent to jump on the lynch train. But this is an accusation based on a scan. Hael could be right - there could be items out there that mess with scans, or change another player's target without their knowledge. But the simplest explanation is often the best.
  2. Too busy to RP right now, but Wilson told me she had Tin last night, and was planning on scanning Haelbarde. This doesn't make her an automatic truth-teller, she could still be carrying on an elaborate charade, but I'm inclined to follow up on such a definitive claim as this. If Wilson is wrong, we lynch her next day cycle. Haelbarde
  3. Wish we knew who told Dani that Wilson was the Mistborn. Wasn't me - I haven't been in contact with Dani at all. I feel like this is the sort of thing Elbereth would have mentioned, so I'll tentatively cross her off the list. So it's likely either Aonar or Doc. Motivations could be difficult to determine - since Dani wasn't a traitor, it's much less clear if the identity of the revealer connects to a Traitor. We ought to look at the 4 remaining contacts of Wilson closely for Traitor-ness. I think it more likely that the leak came from one of the 4 of us. I know it's not me, but I realize that nobody else can be sure of that. Finally, we must consider the possibility that Wilson was not targeted because the Traitors knew she was a Mistborn, but rather because she's a good player and they wanted her out of the way - and that this was a felicitous attack on their part instead of a calculated risk.
  4. This is what I can corroborate. Towards the beginning of the Night Turn, Wilson came to our PM and revealed her role to me - she said she was a Mistborn and asked me to keep an eye out for any metal vials. She also revealed that one of the items stolen (I'll let the party who it was stolen from reveal that if they wish) was a vial of metal that was supposed to come to her tonight, but couldn't because it was stolen. She also claimed to have no metal vials at the moment. I didn't have any metal vials - I haven't found anything at all, even though I have searched every night (except for one that I missed, apparently - Night 3, I think it was). So I'm roleless and itemless. But that's ok. We chatted for a little while about other things, then the PM tapered off into silence. Then, 20 minutes before the end of the cycle, she responded again in the PM, saying that Daniyah had claimed to have a vial of Pewter - supposedly a mass protection item - and had planned to give it to her and then changed plans at the last minute. She told me that Daniyah was to blame if she died tonight, since Dani knew her role. Wilson also gave me a list of people who knew her role, which were Dani, myself, Elbereth, and Aonar, and one other. I did not see that PM notification until after the day turn had started. I returned to the Shard about 11 minutes after turnover, checked my PM first, replied, found out it was Day Turn, and promptly apologized to Wyrm. At which point, I looked up today's thread, saw the turn of events, and decided to vote for Daniyah. That Wilson was protected is no real surprise - I would suspect that either she had some sort of protection item (likely not a vial of metal - just because she likes to be as honest as possible, and she was very specific in her PM about not possessing any metal vials, but made no mention of other items. That seems like just the type of apparent oversight she would exploit if she were attempting to mislead) and was trying to draw an attack, or that someone else (either among the group who knew her role or not) protected her for unknown reasons. A wounded gazelle gambit is possible, but those don't tend to turn out well - though I've been gone from the Shard long enough that the memory of past failed gambits could have faded enough to make it a possibly attractive option now. However, Wilson is the least likely among the active players for me to suspect that of. Not because she wouldn't do it - if she thought she could pull it off, she'd do it in a heartbeat. But her roleplay has already changed her normal playstyle enough that she has a sufficient reason to fly under the radar as regards suspicion. In fact, her character (chosen before the game started, and likely deliberately so) is near-perfect for avoiding suspicion already. The chaotic, random player who never interacts except through roleplay? How do you notice a change in behavior if she gets converted? That's why I don't believe that this was a Wounded Gazelle Gambit, because Wilson is already in a position to garner trust and avoid suspicion. Of course, I've been fooled by her before, and probably will be again, so take my assessment with a grain of salt. But this is the best lead I've seen all game, and of the two options, Daniyah seems more suspicious to me than Wilson.
  5. And now for some RP, because I haven't done enough of that yet. ---------------------------------- The shade of Sheon Idris wandered the halls of the house. Technically speaking, he supposed, he should actually call himself a Cognitive Shadow, but that phrase lacked a certain...flair. And everything he had done with his life had been with an eye towards flair. Taking the Crown of Arelon, that was flair (though it had come at a heavy cost). His short tenure as that king, well, he hoped that he would be remembered as the most...flair-prone (was that even a word?) king in the short history of that country. And in wandering the cosmere, he had claimed a title that had more flair than any he had yet heard. Hoid. The Wanderer, the Meddler, the Inciter of War (well - he'd claim that. It was a justified war, after all. Odium had had to go, even if it hadn't been permanent), the Reforger of God (well, almost. It wasn't his fault that the stupid people he'd hired had run off with the Shards instead of uniting them like they were supposed to). Under that title he had meddled from Roshar to Scadrial and everywhere in between. Until some half-witted idiot had tried to kill him. He couldn't even remember how it had happened or who it had been, but some wonderfully ambitious, cunning, or malevolent fool had tried to separate his life from his body. And to add insult to injury, he had nearly succeeded. Well then, it was finally time to come back. As soon as he could get himself out of this cursed house. He paused, reflecting. Probably literally cursed, actually. Perhaps he could even call it...Colors-cursed? A grin spread across the shadow of what had once been his face. Yes. That would do. That would do well indeed. A shape moved nearby. Squinting, he saw a woman being helped out of a box, a maniacal smile on her face. She might even have been laughing - the Physical Realm was hard to perceive from his position. Smiling, he reached down an incorporeal hand to aid her. It passed right through, of course. Blast his senses! Why couldn't he get things right? Well, it was the thought that counted, right? ------------------------------------- I'm going to vote for Daniyah. I can corroborate Wilson's story, and I'd like to up the pressure enough that our resident suspect feels obligated to respond.
  6. So... are you claiming a scan ability, or is this just a random call to lynch an inactive (or a joke, in which case it doesn't help us much, and isn't really funny)? If it's the first, PM me (or someone else you trust). If the second, it's actually rather suspicious, honestly.
  7. Interesting - I'm not sure where all of those last-minute votes came from. Admittedly, nobody is registering on my radar as suspicious, which is an annoying position to be in, but Len certainly didn't. Wilson, at least, was consistent. I'd have to go back and check who the rest of the votes had voted on before.
  8. So, my case is likely a little different than others, but there may be a generalization possible. I have enough going on that prevents me from spending hours every day on analysis for this game, and I am hesitant to participate heavily if I don't feel I have anything useful, relevant, or meaningful to contribute. The creeping inactivity in this game has also hurt my desire to post - if i didn't have much to say when everyone is talking, I have far less to say when nobody is. Ironically, this is probably the source of the problem. If nobody talks, then nobody can analyze posts. If there's nothing to analyze, nobody wants to post. It's a vicious cycle. Although I was against it at the start of the game, I'm beginning to change my tune about lynching inactives. I wonder if it might not be a good idea to start lynching lurkers without mercy until people start talking. Maybe even something hardcore like: once you're up for the lynch, you're gone even if you show up to talk. At least until we get people talking again. (Note: I'm not serious about that last suggestion, it would be unfair. But we need a credible threat to enforce participation.)
  9. Honestly, that makes him less suspicious to me. It seems to me that an eliminator is much less likely to make a mistake like that, and even less likely to make it repeatedly. Of all the players, the eliminators are most likely to pay attention to the dukes about conversion, the heart of the house, and so on, because their win condition is tied directly to it. That said, if it turns out that he *is* an eliminator, it's likely that his compatriot is either inactive or new.
  10. I'm not particularly comfortable sharing them freely over the Internet, but anyone who wants to see them, PM me.
  11. Boy. His name is David, and he's adorable.
  12. So...there's a new baby in my house. That's a thing that happened.
  13. Of course it's ok if that's what draws you to these Ganges. And I think we'd be less as a community if you dropped out. By the same token, we'd be less as a community if the roleplayers weren't welcome here (like, for example, if their role play was considered not a valuable contribution to the game). You shouldn't feel pressured to RP or drop out. Personally, I'm pushing back against the perception that a single, hyper-analytical approach to these games is the only right way to play. Not everyone enjoys that (and even fewer people enjoy it all the time). Just like not everyone enjoys role play. Nobody should be forced into a style of play that they dislike just to satisfy the expectations of the community - so long as it doesn't involve personal attacks on other players or breaking the rules.
  14. Amen, Wilson. I'll admit that RP is my favorite part of these games. I sign up for games where the story interests me, or the setting. Before I left, since people were developing persistent characters with a history of mutual interaction. RP was reasonably common, and wasn't denigrated as useless contribution. And honestly, it was more fun that way.
  15. Stop it. Now you're making me want to build a game that doesn't have a lynch. In more relevant news, I'm beginning to align with Jondesu. This is, essentially, a conversion game. Conventional wisdom is out the window. Day 1 lynches are almost always a good idea. But I'm questioning their usefulness here and now.
  16. So...waiting for baby #2. 4 days before the official due date. Already been to the hospital for one false alarm. The days seem to drag on endlessly... Note: this will be cause for a post in the Good News thread as soon as something happens on it. My wife and I are just tired of waiting and ready to be done. Wasting 11 hours of paid leave on a false alarm didn't help...
  17. Well, I'm not sure why I need an explanation for posting in the GM PM and not here yet. The cycle's early still, I'm not habitually a prolific poster, and if you've bothered to read what I actually posted in that PM, you might have some indication as to why I'm a little distracted atm, and why I might be so in the near future. For the benefit of all, I should share that my wife and I are waiting (any day now) for the birth of our next child. If I drop off the face of the earth again, that's probably what happened. Now, I have no thoughts yet on this game. There's not enough data for me to be useful yet. I'm paying attention though. I'll vote when I have suspicions. EDIT: Also, I explored and found nothing
  18. On the subject of lynching inactive players, I did myself more aligned with Orlok. It may be a good strategy, but it's not good community building. Now, maybe that's a little bit meta, but that's inevitable in these sorts of discussions. Honestly, though, I'm not even sure it's a good strategy. In my estimation, we ought to treat tomorrow as any other day 1. Have our discussion, and lynch who we find suspicious. We wouldn't lynch an inactive on day 1 in any other game, and we are starting out with just as much information about who is evil. Honestly, I think lynching inactives is almost like not lynching at all. We gain nothing useful out of it, and no information.
  19. I'll sign up as the shade of Sheon Idris, trying to return to life in preparation for lg29. I'll even try to be active
  20. I haven't experienced one, but they are possible but unlikely. Thunderstorms happen because differences in air temperature and pressure in the storm system cause separation of electrical charges. The cold and generally dry air of most snowstorms do not separate the charges anywhere near so well. It takes a much larger storm to create the difference in electrical potential. 21. I can confirm that I am *not* a Monarchist. I'd like you to contact me tonight(/today? I need to review the PM rules - I got into a far more complicated game than I expected for my first one back...) to confirm my actual faction. Also, I find it interesting that nobody has brought up the idea of item trades yet. Is it a worthwhile thing to talk publicly about items we are aware of? I'm thinking it might be useful to get an idea of what kind of items are out there, so we can start making sense of results come turnover time. In the spirit of cooperation, I'll start. I am aware of - but unfortunately do not possess - a Singing and Dancing Sword. I am told it can make a kill during a Night Cycle, but there is a chance that a random player is told that you made the kill. I'm also aware of a Secret Coinpurse that protects against theft - and even allows you to keep half of your money if robbed by the Highway Thief.
  22. Right - my first SE game back, and I had to sign up for a stinking Faction game... I still have flashbacks to MR7 - I may never recover from that. On the plus side, it will give me a decent experience for running a faction game later...
