There's really only two castings in my mind that are set in Stone, if you'll forgive the pun. I really haven't enjoyed him much as an actor, but when I read David, I really see Michael Cera, and if you're going to include Michael Cera, you have to have Emma Stone to offset his acting. I could see Jenifer Lawrence, but Emma Stone feels right, with or without Michael. Liam Neeson for Prof. Ben Kingsley for Conflux Patrick Warburton for Curveball As for the others, I'm not sure.

The Ghostblood's motives regarding Amaram
Fifth of Daybreak replied to Fifth of Daybreak's topic in Stormlight Archive
The description of the person firing the blow gun matches Iyatil, and Mraize was using one in both meetings that Veil attended, which might have been Iyatil training him on it, since she's the one who performed the hit. Also, it would have worked if it wasn't for Taln the one who refers to himself as Taln catching the darts. Also, are you referring to Kabsal, or Tyn's men? Kabsal I thought had flair, and was quite clever, but I agree with hiring Tyn's men. Didn't know about who? He flat out accuses the Ghostbloods, and links Thaidakar to them as well, who is the first person Gavilar suspects of assassinating him. We also have no idea what they did and did not know before Shallan. It seems they've had dealings before. He shares a goal with Dalinar, and a methodology with Sades. We know from Sadea's perspective that he's only playing on the level of kingdoms, and not on the world scale like the Sons of Honor and Ghostbloods seem to play. Sadeas is inconsequential. Restares...interesting..also note that he is another person that Gavilar thought could be behind his death. But I'm still convinced they wanted to kidnap Amaram, and not kill him.- 33 replies

That's a possibility, but I feel like if it were the case, Brandon would have Prof just tell them not to worry about it because of the Harmsway, instead of having David repeat his concerns about it internally. Maybe it has something to do with the way the material seems to diminish as David points out when talking to Prof before the Steelheart fight.

The Ghostblood's motives regarding Amaram
Fifth of Daybreak replied to Fifth of Daybreak's topic in Stormlight Archive
Hmmm, it seems if they had wanted to prevent him getting to Taln the one who refers to himself as Taln, they would've attacked before he opened the wall. I think more likely they were trying to acquire both him and Taln the one who refers to himself as Taln. My interpretation is that Mraize knows something about Amaram and his death, and that his death will play a large part in events to come (Maybe Kaladin? That's my interpretation.) Although I can concede he might make that statement because of someone in the Ghostbloods who wants to do the deed themselves. They have at the end of the book when they are trying to kidnap him, but not when they have Shallan infiltrate his home. They seemed satisfied with the information, but they also had dealings with him before, as evidenced by his statements. All the information that I have found is pointing towards the Ghostbloods not trying to harm him, I'd be very curious to learn of any passages that might refute that, if anyone can point me in the right direction. I 'm fairly sure you are referring to this section: No mention of a tattoo, just Amaram assuming it was the Ghostbloods. The tattoo isn't mentioned until the spanreed conversation between Shallan and her brothers. Also, not to be rude, but there are plenty of threads that discuss Nalan and the legality and morality of his actions, even if it has shifted to Shallan, I'd prefer not to derail the thread onto him and the Skybreakers, I enjoy it as a topic, but it's very much off subject in this thread. There's some good information on Heleran and the Skybreakers in this thread: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/7106-was-heleran-a-surgebinder/ As for the Shallan morality discussion, I don't think that has been officially created, so a new thread could be started, if you wanted to continue discussion. Edit: Sorry Meg, just too slow on the draw. Have an upvote anyways!- 33 replies

The Ghostblood's motives regarding Amaram
Fifth of Daybreak replied to Fifth of Daybreak's topic in Stormlight Archive
No, Mraize heavily implies that's the skybreakers, I should have just included that quote as well. Here it is: (Ninja'd by Moogle. Probably because he's so tiny and white, he just blended into the screen.)- 33 replies

Anyone have any idea why Prof would insist that Tensor dust is not as harmful to breathe in as you would assume? Anytime they describe the dust, they make it sound like it is only comprised of what it used to be, and inhaling heavy metals is definitely not good for your lungs (it would most likely lead to pulmonary fibrosis.) Maybe we'll get some more information on it when the next book hits shelves, but I was hoping someone might have a theory here.

I've been thinking about the Ghostblood's dealings with Amaram, and I'm completely stumped as to what they might want with him, other than using his information to get to Urithiru. In WoK, Amaram assumes that it was the Ghostblood's trying to assassinate him, when Mraize says that Heleran had sought out the Skybreakers (WoR Chapter 88 The Man Who Owned the Winds.) And there's other evidence that shows the Ghostbloods weren't trying to hurt him or have him assassinated: Later in chapter 88, we have the attack on Amaram: Clearly this is Iyatil. But I don't think the intention was for the dart to kill Amaram. I think it's a safe assumption that it was a similar poison on the dart shot at Amaram. Granted Shallan only assumes the poison isn't killing the mink slowly, and just stunning it, but considering the first quote on Amaram, I doubt it was a lethal poison. So why are the Ghostblood's so interested in Amaram? His connection to the Sons of Honor and their motives? More importantly, why were they trying to kidnap him? And what does Mraize know about Amaram's death? Who is it that he's referencing to, and why does Amaram's life belong to them? Edit: I just realized that I made this post when my reputation level was Ghostblood. Unintentional win!

More terrifying than a highstorm blowing the wrong way, thereby neutralizing all their protective measures, along with transforming all the worlds servants into dangerous monsters? I'd have to say the ends justified the means had the ends been achieved.

I think the reason that Shallan was able to manifest the blade into Tyn's body is because Shallan was physically touching the blade as it manifested, whereas trying to get the blade to manifest somewhere else had not been demonstrated for us yet in the books. I could see Jasnah maybe being able to, having the transportation surge, but otherwise, as having been stated, they spren need help manifesting in a physical form. I also think that the fact they are in physical form is why they can't manipulate themselves. Let's imagine that the spren have the same strength in physical form as they do in spren form. WIth this logic, there's no way the spren could get themselves to twitch, let along fly through the air and attack. Syl had trouble lifting a few leaves to bring to Kaladin. Pattern seems to be able to interact with the physical world more adeptly in his handling of locks, but that is most likely linked to his inability to hide in the physical realm, along with his abilities to assist in soulcasting. Even Wyndle, who seems to have more of an affect on physical objects than Syl would as per their surges, can't even roll a biscuit (resisted saying roll a roll...until now.) They might have the capacity to move when in physical form, but they just lack the strength.

BOOK DOWN! BOOK DOWN!

Hunger Games was alright, but the next two were bad. She should have changed perspectives instead of making Katniss whinier than Kaladin. -
Here is the end result to the second Monster Melee! And, I'm proud to officially announce, in the spirit of light heartedness and shenanigans (in the form of abusing a much hated character) that the narrative section of the thread will now have an unofficial title "The Ballad of Roshone's Revenge." Please enjoy the second installment. Roshone limped across the plains; his peg slipping clumsily on the rockbud vines retreating against his advance. Providence had provided to him again. Somewhere out in the area surrounding Hearthstone, he had again stumbled on creatures unknown to him. They were human . . . almost. Their skin grey and dull, their eyes vacant. They were all armed with swords, and had immediately followed his leadership. They even seemed capable warriors, at least a few of them. They plodded along behind him, Roshone narrowing his eyes to squint towards the horizon, searching out his foe. Never mind the silversmiths, never mind the surgeon, never mind storming Dalinar Kholin for sending me here, I will have that Whitespine’s head. The evening sun was hiding from the sky, darkness and light meeting playfully to illuminate the sky in a cascade of flowing color. Roshone ignored it. His eyes were only for the cursed beast. It was in that backdrop, purple spinning into orange fading to green sliding into blue that swirled back into the purple, that it arrived. Roshone eyes fell directly on him, standing proud, erect, majestic in the twilight. He felt a primal surge of fear run through him, and purple fearspren exploded from the ground, more numerous than he had ever seen before. But the moment passed, and Roshone collected himself. He noted that the lifeless did not react to the spren, they kept staring forward, blank. He turned back towards the hued skyline, and he made out not one, but four shapes moving towards his group of six. They were smaller than the Whitespine, perhaps the size of large axehound, maybe bigger. They seemed to blend into the landscape; Roshone never would have seen them if they had not been moving. The kaleidoscope sky casting strange refractions against their oily skin. They seemed to have six legs, but they didn’t seem right for the things body. They were still a ways away, even though both parties had seen each other, they did quicken their pace. By the time they within a short distance of each other, the last rays of twilight had vanished, and Salas’s steady purple light filled the sky, and bathed the soon to be battlefield. The creatures didn’t have familiar facial features, at least none that Roshone could see they did however, occasionally lift their heads up in the air. Roshone didn’t know what to make of them. Roshone gave his creatures their instructions, and then hung back, not wanting to risk himself again. As he stared the short distance away, he was displeased to see the Whitespine, also, seemed to be holding itself from the battle. What in Kelek’s tongue, is the storming thing smiling? Roshone had no idea that sort of emotion could show on the reptilian’s features, but he thought he could make out joy. Are those anticipationspren? Roshone shook his head, and turned back to the battle. His instructions had been simple. Two go for the Whitespine, one for each of those strange beasts. They lumbered in distinct groups, their targets visible from their direction of travel. The Whitespine looked at them, and started to circle around the fight, moving itself to be behind the melee from the two. Roshone cursed softly, hobbling towards them to give orders. That’s when the first one struck. One of the lifeless had reached its intended prey, and had raised its sword to strike, but the thing was too fast. It leapt forward, mauling the lifeless with its dagger like legs. The lifeless exploded, bits of gore flying in all directions. A bit of intestines smacked against Roshone’s shoulder with a sickening squish. The other lifeless had managed to score a hit on its target, and the thing seemed to be, not bleeding, but leaking smoke. It lunged again, scoring a hit on the face. The disturbing creature recoiled, and oozed smoke, seeming to shrink and shrivel as it died, a horrible hissing noise escaping from it. The third creature was already bleeding smoke from a few small gashed, but the lifeless was also showing signs of battle, ichor leaking from an abdominal wound. It thrust again, and the essence jumped out of the way, as the first creature joined the battle, hitting it from behind, ripping into its flesh. Soon, it stopped moving, they both turned towards the first. Roshone had manage to limp as close to the battlefield as he dared. He yelled instructions to the one that had killed its target, and tried to limp towards the other two, meaning to redirect them to support their lone companion. By the time he arrived and looked back, it was already disabled. He barked a few commands, and clumped away, hoping his peg would find purchase on the uneven ground. The Whitespine was laying down, Roshone noticed. It seemed bored now. It had kept the battle between itself and the two the whole time, rendering them useless for support. Roshone felt like a fool. Did this creature just outsmart me? He brushed away the thought. It was a fluke. This thing wasn’t intelligent after all, just especially evil. It did find these creatures though . . . How? He turned back to the battle. Both of the midnight essence were bleeding heavily from wounds, smoke pouring out, and their bodies sagging. The lifeless were in worse shape. One of the two was missing an entire arm. The other was barely holding back one of the beasts that continued to pounce and wary him. The first lifeless had reclaimed its sword from its fallen arm, but was clearly terrible with its off arm. It fell quickly to the beast it was facing off with. In a short time, both of them had made short work of the remaining lifeless. Their nightmare teeth slicing through flesh and bone together. The human like creature was soon completely dismembered, and Roshone stalked away. None of them made an attempt to follow him. He turned back to the Whitespine for one last look, and saw it staring directly at him. Roshone shivered, and continued his disgraced walk back to his carriage.

I think this qualifies for the "People to Avoid in Dark Alleys" list. Store sight while at the Optometrist. Forge a book into a language you can't read. Have a Kandra impersonate a mistwraith. Store luck at the casino. Have Kandra ingest famous people to be displayed in permanent wax museums. Awaken a Furby with the command "Annoy." Forge everything into a stick.
