Yes! When I imagined this, I was thinking hundreds of skeletals falling on it wave after wave, bones exploding out and shooting with every swing. It's not so much I think they'll be a challenge, but having an army against it will be a battle of incredibly epic proportions.

WoR – The worst book that I ever read.
Fifth of Daybreak replied to WitSpren's topic in Stormlight Archive
I would not be nearly as effective on this site without my ebook copy! Actually, the only couple of times I've opened my hardback copy (other than to have Brandon sign it) I had TWoK on my Ebook looking up excerpts, with my WoR open looking up other excerpts. Meanwhile my audible was playing the audio book. -
Welcome back to Monster Melee, also known as "The Ballad of Roshone's Revenge." In this thread, we discuss battles between various monsters, and then I, using your suggestions and input, write a battle scene with the results voted on by the 17th shard. The battle is staged between Hearthstone's own Roshone and his eternal enemy (yes, I know that could mean anyone who has met him) the Whitespine This week, we have a very special installment. The Rise of the Trolloss! If you've been tuning in weekly, you remember the major events from last week. If you haven't, you really should get caught up before reading this week's story portion. So for this week, I'm going to be running things a bit differently. The match up this week is an army of skeletals (size TBD) against the insanely scary Trolloss! Since we're dealing with a creature of our own devising, we'll have to have an extensive debate to decide on exactly how uber powerful this thing is. As such, I won't be opening the polls until a good sized debate has ensued. So, as a group, we need to discuss the capabilities of the Trolloss, and come up with a number for the Skeletal Army that could actually pose a fighting chance against this great beast. Once the voting dust has settled, I'll start writing up a battle scene using the mechanics we discuss in the fight. Skeletals:http://coppermind.net/wiki/Skeletal These things are puny! We're going to need a lot of them to even put up any sort of fight. There's not much information on them in the coppermind unfortunately, but they'll be perfect for an epic showdown with the Trolloss. Trolloss: As we discuss, I'll try to add everything we decide on here. Needless to say though, this is one major baddie. A few things to keep in mind: If you join the discussion late, try to read all the posts, that way you don't miss out on any battle parameters that have already been suggested. I'm very open to any ideas! I started this thread intending to just have battle scenes each week, but suggestions from 17th Sharders have inspired this thread into its large scale state its in now. The more we debate, and the more ideas you submit, the more material I'll have to pull from for the battle, throw those ideas out there! Finally, enjoy yourself! I've been having a blast creating this thread with you guys, and I hope you're having as much fun reading and participating. Let's have some fun! Edit: I'm posting the battle scene here, as well as in the post later in the forum, for ease of reading in the future.

Master List of Origins™: the Ultimate Nationality Thread
Fifth of Daybreak replied to Aether's topic in General Discussion
It was an evaluation of a ton of demographics: unemployment, average wage, general happiness. Elkhart went from having most millionaires per capita to having the highest unemployment rate in the country at the start of the recession. That's what happens when your main industry (RVs) is a combination of homes and cars when both of those industries fail. He's not a member yet. So I wouldn't worry about it. (Just for fun, he lives in Arlingyon Virginia.) -
I've finally managed to turn my brother onto Brandon Sanderson, and as he's been reading through them, I've been getting update texts on his favorite parts. He finally started reading WoR a few days ago. Yesterday night I got this text, and I literally did a dance for joy: "I think Pattern is my favorite character right now. And I loved the soulcast conversation: "I am a stick" "but you could be fire" "I am a stick."" I had similar squeals of joy when he texted me during his read of WoA saying how much he loved the "He ate my horse line." The word of the stick shall be spread!

United States of America, more specifically, Elkhart, IN, which, fun fact, was rated as the most hopeless city in the country a few years ago in an article I can't find now. -

A Plan for the Steelheart Movie
Fifth of Daybreak replied to TwiLyghtSansSparkles's topic in The Reckoners
The chance to have Prof's fight scenes, if done with realistic enough effects, would be worth it for anyone as certifiably awesome as Liam Neeson. I would also like to take this time to nominate Harrison Ford for Steelheart. He has a scar even. Just saying. -
Crystals could be powerful ideas. Concepts that people think about enough to have a presence in the cognitive realm, but not personified, so they wouldn't be spren.

A Kandra impersonating a mistwraith is not that trick. At all -
I definitely like the differences that you distinguished between the body's representation, and that of the mind. Especially when it comes to this tidbit: This being their 'spiritual sustenance' that's mentioned in the epigraphs, this makes a ton of sense to me. I feel like Shallan would be more adept at emotional soulcasting, and less skillful at physical soulcasting. During the Lahn interlud, Pai mentions people "recasting their souls" which really seems to suggest that there's more to soulcasting beyond just turning things into other things. With the theory your postulating, Shallan does manipulate the 'mind flames' whereas Jasnah only manipulate the beads.

RAFO-Reply and we'll forum it out! Not at all! It was enjoyable, and eventually if I want to write the books I want, I'll be thankful for the practice. It was interesting to keep it organized. I ended up listing all the creatures at the bottom, and keeping a running tally of which one was where, and even that got confusing haha. But I feel like the battle came out pretty entertaining. I'm definitely excited to keep writing it with you guys. The size of Koloss and the loadouts for the trolls were something that I had brought up earlier in the thread, and no one brought up any issues with that decision. What I've been trying to do with the thread is take all the suggestions and ideas about how the battle would enact, and weave those contributions into the thread (Kobold King originally mentioned Roshone riding the Warg in MM1, and CCstat mentioned Roshone getting spiked.) I very much encourage you to bring up any of those concerns you might have before I get to writing (which is when the polls seemed to be decided one way or another, about 3 to 4 days after the poll goes up.) Next installment this will be especially important. Here's the OP where I postulated the battle forces.

We have no definitive proof that Nalan is insane. As to the original post, I think that's a possibility, but given the translated epigraph from the diagram hinting of a secret breaking the KR, it doesn't seem to fit thematically with it. We have the WoR (in-world) excerpts that seem to state that it was a really dirty wicked nasty secret: Also, we know that Nalan invests during the Lift chapter, and if he thought that this was the reason for the desolations, he wouldn't be doing any sort of surgebinding in order to not contribute to it.

We know Firemoss is a recreational drug, not even illegal if I'm remembering correctly.

That was fun, but intense! I think I kept everything straight, but if you notice discrepancies in the fight scene, let me know. I tried to keep track of everything as best I could, but it's possible that I didn't reconcile things entirely accurate. The Ballad of Roshone's Revenge, third installment(Spoilered for length, and mistborn spoilers): Exciting huh? Stay tuned for a very very special Monster Melee to come next installment! Edit: For some reason the transition didn't save my italics. Put them back in the right places.

To me, it definitely seemed like the Shardplate was actually reacting to the battle, and adapting. The first couple of lightening strikes affected him greatly, as did the light from them. But after the second time he gets hit is when it starts to darken out the lightening on his visor. To be honest, seeing "Adolin's Shardplate (Spoilers)" made me think of the Shallan Adolin cafe scene, and Adolin 'spoiling' his shardplate.

Well, in that thread we never really come up to a consensus on what would happen if he tried to use Nightblood to attack him, other than my speculations on hilarity. I doubt that Szeth would willingly give up Nightblood, even if Nightblood was arguing for it. It's kind of similar to how the circus trains elephants. They are tied with a rope when they're very young, and they try repeatedly to break the rope, failing. As this continues, they 'know' that the rope can't be broken. Fast forward years and the elephant is now strong enough to break the rope, but doesn't even try, even if the owner replaces the rope with a small one and a stake in the ground. It's ingrained and imprinted knowledge. It doesn't realize that circumstances have changed, the elephant just knows that the rope is unbreakable. Edit: Less confusing formatting. -

I think Weiry found the answer to a lot of this and had posted it in the "When Szeth Meets Zahel" thread. (source) Considering SA is after Warbreaker, I'd have to say he's immune. Unless the effect of using Nightblood fades over time making you susceptible again. -
Well, there's a nonresponse bias for the 17th shard members who don't vote, there's a possible repsonse bias if people don't read to see what the final battle parameters are, my sample size is too small to be representative, there's the non random selection bias, and the bias of being a Sanderson website. So, in a word, yes It also won't be Sanderson vs other universe all the time either, and I trust people to make good judgement calls, and to discuss if they disagree.
