  1. Yeah! It's an 8 month paid intern position (I need one more paid intern, or co-op, to complete my degree - once that's done I graduate). The position is in R&D at Stemcell technologies (in Vancouver, Canada). I'd be supporting/assisting in designing, testing and improving in their robotics/automation department. Stemcell technologies equips biotechnology labs with equipment, growth media/etc. So essentially I'd be helping build/design automatic/robotic biotech lab equipment. It's pretty sick for my long term career goals too. I want to work as a biomechatronic engineer, which this flirts with the edges of. It's biotech, so I get a foot in that field, and it's robotics, so I get a foot in that field too (Biomechatronics is the integration of mechatronic systems and biological systems. Working robotic limbs and exoskeletons. Medical Cyborgs, basically.)
  2. @Oversleep - That's 1 equation and 3 unknowns, which means you cannot get a unique algebraic solution. That doesn't mean it's insoluble, just that the solution won't be unique, and you can't use standard algebraic methods. In other words, it would take a loooot of time, or a really lucky guess.
  3. Sooooo.... It looks like I have a job interview tomorrow morning. This is exciting. And nerve-wracking.
  4. Ugh. You're right @Mestiv - unmatched parentheses make me twitch. Thats how you ruin code! That's how you mess up equations! And that's how you render your paragraph impossible to comprehend! @A Budgie - quotation marks are what they are called - "I think, therefore I am" sure. (Descartes) (woefully misapplied quote above).
  5. You are kind, often wise and always willikg to help
  6. I'm a bit tall, but I've always felt a kinship with the shirelings.... Yes. Yes I have. I'd forgotten about it though.... but I remember now the pain of my friends.
  7. Wait - international baccalaureate program? Right now? Mononoke. And food... hrmmm.... that's tough. Really tough. I'd like to try Lembas though. As much as I love food, having a small bite fill the stomach of a grown man? That'd be cool.
  8. I had a brutal exam, am now feeling sick/exhausted and am at work. I want to go home. I want a hug.
  9. IB, no. Studio Ghibli? Of course! Studio Ghibli does fantastic work. Absolutely fantastic.
  10. Ooooohhhh.... pewter zinc? Maybe? Pewter for general strength/agility and zinc because genius mental speed. I'd be storing brain speed alllll the time, while doing all the little tasks that don't need brains. Plus, super fast brain + strength/agility boost? Major combat boost. But man - there are so many cooler ones out there. That's useful, but not AS cool. I also left out compounding. So, so many options. I'd ask it to give me an overview of all history, plus two years into the future. To really see the truth of everything. Solve so many mysteries. Man that would be amazing. But perhaps that's outside the bounds of the question. I'd ask it to give me a Jarvis with all the tools/resources to really use it in prototyping and designing. 7, yesterday.
  11. Oh, certainly. Who doesn't?
  12. Proceeds to add poetry all over the book. (And prose that almost counts) Rothfuss is fantastic "There is no overkill. There is only open fire, and it is time to reload."
  13. I like to answer questions
  14. I'm sorry everyone: Canadian politics is objectively better than your countries politics. This is a fact. Evidence: This video you need to watch now. Context: Rona Ambrose (the lady asking questions at the start) is the leader of the official opposition. Justin Trudeau is our current prime minister. The guy in robes is basically the official moderator of all parliamentary discussions.
  15. @Jedal - that's pretty much crem dude. A couple of things: you are cared for. You are loved. If by no one else, then by us - but there are plenty of people in your life who love you. They're probably just also going through crem right now (example; your parents). Physically, I recommend light exercise. If your body can handle it, do easy, simple stuff for 5 minutes a day; basic strength training - push-ups (collapsing or from knees if you need to build up strength), sit ups, body-weight squats. Will hopefully help your strength, while improving mood/etc. Finally; you are young. You have no idea how young you are. You have decades ahead of you. You might not get college now? Work for five years and then do college without as much debt. Don't be afraid to live: you are shackled right now by school, age and living at home (that last is both a blessing and a curse). That won't last. You will soon be free to live; well or poorly is your choice. Finally, you are a teenager, yeah? I hated being a teenager. Life gets better. Life gets so, so much better. Yours will too. /biginternethug
  16. @Kaymyth - about what I figured then. It's usually a lot more complex than it seems at first glance.
  17. Why time travelling to kill hitler is/is not a good idea. Why electric vehicles are/are not the future of commuting. Why Nuclear is/is not a good energy source. So many great, contentious topics you could pick and have tons of opportunity for good research 1,800 words too - that's no very long for a research paper. Not long at all. I'd struggle to stay within it for a bunch of those topics. You got this, no problem.
  18. @Kaymyth - Early Bast, warrior-lioness goddess of the sun? Or later Bast, cat goddess with moon connotations? Or an amalgamation of the two aspects? Either way, don't go tearing peoples throats out or knocking valuables off of tables. Be careful about these things. I'm sure you know the typical christian concerns towards pagan religions, so colour me (slightly) concerned for you - but I reckon you'll just have fun and good fellowship.
  19. Brightlord! Your choice of fashion is inspired! As soon as the parshendi see that, they'll be sure to flee!
  20. But but but... that involves me being brave again! Which I guess I'll have to do
  21. Not sure if this counts as good news now, but I'm nervously excited about it anyway and am in a good mood. I finish courses in august, and have already started applying for work. It's really nice to see that some of the jobs I've applied for I actually want to do and am actually qualified for!
  22. So.... you remember the girl I asked out? Who I am definitely crushing on? We just got together for lunch, and spent two+ hours talking about everything. It was fantastic. One of the best, most interesting conversations I've had in ages. Talked about everything; culture, politics, religion, justice, books. Tons of stuff. We'll be meeting up again later this month (she's out of town next week and a half). Unfortunately, I still don't know if she's interested in me romantically or just as a friend/good conversation. Well. Whatever happens, at least I had a fantastic convo
  23. Seared in olive oil then cooked in butter and garlic. So, so good.
