  1. Assuming you're finished viewing the awesomeness that is Nighthound's theme music, then yes I believe it is.
  2. Wait a minute... this illuminates Nighthound's song! "When You're Evil" by Voltaire perfectly depicts both his dark and trollfaced antics! Why didn't we see this sooner?
  3. Terris 0 I am, unfortunately, the killer of Terris. Herdaz 22 Hallendren 14
  4. Yes Ray. Everybody hates Nighthound as much as you do. Including, possibly, his sister. I added Aldo to the "Epics of Oregon" thread. We edit our original posts when adding new Epics, right?

  6. Diversity... hmm, if everyone agrees it's important, I could tweak his power set a little. I like the deductive precognition though. Though unless more changes are decreed necessary, Aldo the Enigmatic may be coming to a city near you on the next game day! Get your tickets now, and hold onto your hats! I have no objections to you going next in the Museum. I think I'm waiting for Mailw to set up the Lightwards-Altermind meeting. In the meantime, you know what I'll be doing. I've got internet access and a new Epic, so...
  7. So Funtimes is a Lego Unikitty? I can totally see that, actually. "Watch You Crawl" is also very fitting for what we've seen of Remington Springfield, the character who's more epic than most of the Epics in this game. Speaking of which, I'm coming up with a minor Epic who could work for the Wacko Brigade (with approval.) He's a tall man with sharp blue eyes and a long mustache. Before Calamity, he was a stage magician called Aldo the Enigmatic--he is now an Epic who goes by the same name. Aldo the Enigmatic has two powers. The first is teleportation; so long as he is not being directly viewed, he can vanish and appear in another location (the teleport will fail if his destination is being directly observed.) Aldo's second power is much more interesting. Calamity has increased his already sharp and observant eyes into a power of deduction almost indistinguishable from precognition. He can watch marbles thrown into the air and instantly predict where each of them will fall, and which corners of the room they will each roll to. If he is shot at, he can track the trajectory of the bullets and dodge each one (with a stylish turn and flapping of his cape, of course.) This power is generally limited to only a few moments into the future, as events he is unaware of can throw off his predictions. This also makes him less invincible than an Epic like Fortuity--a sniper or another concealed threat could take him out, provided they leave no clues that would enable him to deduce their presence. He may be a little too powerful for a minor Epic, but I find I really like the idea of a stylish magician Epic working for the Wacko Brigade.
  8. I thought we agreed that "What Happened in Equestria" was next on our to-do list. In all seriousness though, if there is a sequel I imagine it will flow naturally from the ending of this one. We'll just pick the place where the most surviving characters retreated. Like northern California, perhaps.
  9. Makes sense to me. We could all create a minor Epic to serve the Party, maybe.

  11. "Good. I like being your friend." Lightwards ground his teeth as Funtimes patted his cheek, her smile cold and self-satisfied. He was furious with her, but he comforted himself on one thing: she was no longer mysterious. She acted strangely for an Epic; this was true. But she had the same undercurrent of hostility buried beneath her smiles and childlike tendencies. She was just like any other powerful Epic. And that scared him more than he wanted to admit. Lightwards only half-listened as Purple Phoenix seemed to pass out, only to immediately regain consciousness. He introduced himself as the Protector, apparently some other personality that was a relic of Phoenix's past. An Epic with a split personality--that would make things more confusing. Neither more difficult nor easier; but confusing, certainly. He was not surprised that the Protector asked to speak to Traveler and the Doctor alone. He wanted to growl in frustration, or loose his raptors on him again. But it had already been established. There was no Empire of Light in Portland--not yet, at least. Of the five Epics who had taken the Museum, only one held enough power to make threats or assert dominance. And that Epic's name, ridiculous though it may be, was Doctor Funtimes. As the trio of Epics retreated into the far end of the alley, Lightwards shot an angry glance at Remington. The disguised Epic was standing nearby with an idiotic smile on his face, as if he'd just thought of something that tickled him. In a smooth motion, Lightwards strode to the man and held him by the shirt collar, pulling him close. The man stopped smiling, but he still looked into his eyes nonchalantly. No, not nonchalantly... that look was defiance. Pure, unadulterated aggression and disdain. "You look at this city now," Lightwards hissed. "And you see nothing. Crammed survivors and petty Epics. Allow me to herald a new age. I swear to you, Remington Springfield, by the end of this month you will be dead, along with anyone who stands against me. The time's not now, not with such powers still at large... but by the end of this month. You will see." Shoving the redneck back and feeling like a petty bully, Lightwards stalked away out of the alley, leaving his present allies to hold their private conference. --------------------------------------- A woman screamed. Shots rang out as a ragged professor wearing a coat over his bare chest and a bright green bowler hat strode into the clothing shop, a pistol striking down fleeing patrons and feathered dinosaurs blocking off escape routes. Seven people lay dead. Four men, three young and one elderly. Three women, one round and middle-aged and two young, just out of their teens. They looked like they might have been sisters. Whoever they had been was taken away from them, as each of the bodies got to their feet and vacantly acknowledged their new master. Lightwards gave a little grimace as he raised the last body--his power was being pushed to the limits. But one did not rule a city by staying in one's comfort zone. He needed to improve his power... he needed to get stronger. He closed his eyes, his head swimming. If there was any resurrection Epic who could take a death without some form of psychological damage, then Lightwards wasn't aware of him. His own mind grew foggier every time, and he couldn't shake the fear and abject terror he felt during every one of them. Jake Subbly and his rifle. Möbius and her cold yet taunting demeanor. Quickslide with his rage and pistol. All of them stood as a testament to a single fact. And that fact was that Lightwards was not yet the most powerful man in Oregon--he was not yet the true master of death. But so long as he pushed his limits, animating as many Warriors as he could control at any one time... maybe he could rise to his destined glory. The twin sisters brought him sponges from a back room, which he used to wipe the vile smell of gasoline from his skin. He sent them back into the store, and they came back laden with various suits. He slipped on a loose-fitting buttoned shirt in a neutral blue color, before turning to one of the men he had killed. "You were the owner of this store?" he asked calmly. The man nodded his head. "You were a tailor?" The man nodded his head. "Good." Lightwards pulled out a spare piece of fossil from his coat pocket, and reanimated a mid-sized predatory dinosaur. A Megapnosaurus, a very pleasant-looking dinosaur with green and blue stripes running down its furred body. Lightwards shot it in the skull. The animal went through quick death throes before falling to the floor, bleeding out on what would have once been a very nice carpet. Lightwards felt the fur with his fingers, smiling. "I have one final clothing request, Mr. tailor," he said happily. "Procure a tanner. Have him prepare this skin for wear. Work your trade--I want a coat made from this animal." "Yes, Emperor," the tailor responded without conviction. Lightwards smiled, preparing to set the rest to work on various errands when the shop's windows suddenly shattered Claudius the vulture came splaying into the middle of the floor, coughing on pieces of broken glass as it swiftly bled to death. "Oh for Calamity's sake," Lightwards grumbled. He put a bullet in the vulture's head to speed up its death, then restored it to full health. The bird stared at him with wide eyes. "What is it?" the Epic demanded. The vulture simply bobbed its head outside. "A disturbance?" Lightwards guessed. The vulture, surprisingly enough, nodded its head. "Take me to it," ordered Lightwards. Was the territory under attack already? In any case, a bit of flashiness wouldn't hurt. He set the two identical twins on the backs of his raptors, each clutching rifles he found stashed under the store's desk. They would make for an imposing pair, he decided. Electing to travel on foot himself, he put a pistol at his belt and allowed Claudius to lead the way. He didn't have power yet--not true power. But he could make a good show of it.
  12. Another topic to serve as a stockpile of minor Epics wouldn't be a bad idea. A generic, "throw random Epic ideas here" kind of topic.
  13. "Rat With Wings"? A weaselly little flight Epic who has very literal wings protruding from his back. Was a particularly cheesy, self-proclaimed pickup artist before Calamity. Am I up next?
  14. Maybe Altermind observes Claudius the vulture flying over the city, and figures out that it's a mind-controlled animal? Nathan figured it out just from watching the bird's movements, so it's not far-fetched to assume Altermind could do the same. He could quickly put two and two together--he heard about a new necromancer rampaging through the city, he's in a part of town that just got flamboyantly taken over by a necromancer. He could cast an illusion of a major catastrophe convincing enough to make Claudius fly to Lightwards in alarm.
  15. ...pancakes?
  16. After a day or two of wandering, she'll start trailing the Wacko Brigade. As long as Lightwards or Nathan goes to Tillamook, she'll probably follow. I'm actually seriously considering having Alice Regway as a secondary character, after she's had an in-game week or two to get her head straight. This all depends on whether she'd have anything interesting to do, of course.

  18. I wiped a little tear from my eye. Alice lost her husband and her life to an Epic--I'm certain Remington must have lost someone as well. Why else would he hate Epics so badly, snarking back to them with no regard to his own safety? The mark of a man who's so heartbroken he unconsciously seeks death. Remington and Alice: he lost the will to live and she's slowly regaining hers. They've both lost loved ones, and are prepared to tear down all of Oregon to avenge themselves. This is an OTP in the grand tradition of OTPs. When's the soonest they can meet in canon?
