  1. To those people who keep asking if Calamity is a Shard...
  2. Or placing a heavy weight on top of the button to hold it down.
  3. I was thinking Deathwish would be tied to a catapult that's about to be launched, and you'd give Vapor a button that simultaneously ejects a warm doughnut and plays police sirens when pushed.
  4. Wait a minute. If my profile picture is red, what if I'm subconsciously influencing people to give me downvotes? :o

Not sure if the pic has something to do with it. I get some random downvotes from time to that I can't even tie to a post and I don't have red as a primary color.

I've been getting enough of them lately that I'm beginning to think I have a few devoted haters on here. :/

Yes, I did! In fact I was about to write a reply to it when the server went down. Thank you--reading that post really elevated my spirits. :)

  5. "Now for the moral part of the test. If you were given the choice between saving Deathwish's life or having a doughnut--" "Ooh, do they have Bavarian cream? I'll take that." "...Good to have you on board, Jack!"
  6. Knock knock. Who's there? Deathwish. Deathwish who--wait a minute. You're violating your restraining order!
  7. If he so much as shared a joke with Deathwish, he'd pick up a residual sleaziness that would make women avoid him for three weeks.
  8. I'm still actually debating with myself whether mouth-produced siren noises are enough to set it off. I'm leaning towards no, but I wouldn't be adverse to someone trying it.
  9. Depends on how they work, I suppose. If they're like Kitty Pryde--setting themselves slightly out of phase with the rest of matter--then there's no reason why it wouldn't work on them. If they actually transform themselves into wispy substances like Wraith or Vapor Snake, then it probably wouldn't have any effect.
  10. It occurs to me that the first person to write a scene set there will get to establish its general mood and atmosphere. Loud and boisterous? Quiet and subdued, maybe even a touch formal? Gambling? Pool tables? That's all up to the first player to get there.
  11. "In my day we called CorpseMaker overpowered for having just one instakill ability! And we liked it that way!"
  12. Well that's strange. I don't think we have any Epics in Portland prone to that kind of behavior.
  13. There's an original?
  14. Oh come on! (Clearly Buffeting and Smorgastorm should have an epic Salem duel. )
  15. This morning I made an Epic named Smorgastorm, who can summon clouds that rain any kind of food. However his weakness is malnourished people, so the food disappears whenever a starving person tries to eat it. Do you have anything like that, Voidus?
  16. We might as well call Autumn Helen, because she's launched a thousand ships.
  17. You ain't seen nothing yet. Any "Random Stuff" page that doesn't threaten its readers' sanity is a page wasted, in this kobold's opinion.
  18. Here's a general setting summary, but it leaves out some of the most recent events.
  19. Let's test your knowledge and see what you've learned so far.
  20. True. But the Panda actually has an expanded powerset when compared to Slaughterhouse, and he was still repulsed from The Dalles. By vanillas with machine guns, no less. I do intend to eventually roleplay an upper-tier Epic. But it's hard guessing at what power levels will be standard in the future, and weaklings are fun to write anyway.
  21. Never--and I mean never--try to ride a thunderclast. It's just not worth it, people.
  22. And I'm bad at making Epics that are strong enough to hold their own in Oregon. The two that I have--Möbius and Slaughterhouse--I purposefully left out of the RP because I felt they were overpowered. Now, Slaughterhouse in particular would have a hard time dealing with the flux of Epics in Corvallis and The Dalles, let alone Astoria.
  23. Take it from someone's whose every Epic is either weak or being abused by even more powerful Epics--it's a blast. Also: Salem thread up! Somehow this still didn't feel real until it was actually happening.
  24. Captioned pictures of Discord aside, we still don't know much about Calamity's motivations. Or... anything, really. It could be that he has no goals at all, and gives a bunch of random powers with absolutely no thought for how they'll all interact. Or he does have a goal, and having meta Epics to even the playing field benefits him in some way we can't comprehend. Personally, I subscribe to the notion that Calamity's powers are merely windows into other universes with differing laws of physics. So I'd say meta Epics would simply have a connection to universes that exert physical influence on other universes, as has been hypothesized to explain some bizarre astronomical phenomena in our real 'verse.
