  1. And I'm... the Master? Well that doesn't make any sense at all. Ba da da dum. Ba da da dum. Ba da da dum. Ba da da dum...
  2. I don't have any money. Think Kickstarter accepts fresh free-range eggs?
  3. In addition to being very well-done, I find this very cute for some reason.
  4. Whoah... this is... weird. Like waking up to find all the furniture in your house rearranged. I like it, don't get me wrong. But this'll take some getting used to.
  5. Having you considered donning clown makeup, kidnapping them, and forcing them to fight in gladiatorial combat? Just a thought.
  6. Every time I read a Sanderson book description, there's a moment of glee that shivers through me when I'm taken aback at how awful a situation the world and the main characters are in.
  7. The 17th Shard: A Poem Or, "Why The 17th Shard is the Best Site Ever." Or, "Kobold King Sucks at Poetry." Shall I compare thee to Heaven so bright? How did this Shard swell to such a great height? Kindness is treasure, so rich is this site How is it that so few feel reason to fight? For elsewhere are flame wars so bright and so passionate There is naught but cruelty from Facebook to Reddit! The 17th Shard alone seems compassionate With never a flame war or the throwing of fits! With each brand new member There's never an ember Of the flames that so quickly a forum dismember. How is it alone we steer clear of such temper? The reasons are many but I'll try to stress some Of the virtues that keep our fair site far from glum. The key points are two, a powerful sum Its the mods and the members that make this site thrum. First are the mods and their glorious deeds Their heads and their hearts set on our manifold needs. Like gardeners they pluck from the midst of us weeds Keeping harmony for all as we chatter and read. But it's not just the rulers who make this site fair It's the people whose virtue makes this a fine lair. They've put so much kindness and thought in the air Their pureness has built a grand castle of care. So the people all drawn to B. Sanderson's genius Have made a great stronghold of wit and of cleanness. Their hearts oh so pure and devoid of all meanness Have brought all the best from what's heterogeneous. So stare with wide eyes upon this marvelous sight This bright and pure paragon of a website. Know that it's you who've made it so bright From Brandon and staff we have made Paradise.
  8. I'm not gonna comment on his powerset--that's more Edgedancer's modus operandi--but a callous Epic who sets himself up as a hero even while being a total slontze? Do we finally have Epic!Captain Hammer?
  9. Nait, I totally understand your point of view. If I believed God were exactly how some Christians have depicted him over the years, I would not be a Christian. I believe there is an inherent morality to the universe, and an entity that is all-powerful but displays cruelty would be no more worthy of worship than Cthulhu. I believe, wholeheartedly, that God epitomizes morality. That is why I worship him--because I choose to believe that the universe is not random but was formed by the Hand of an invisible but loving Creator. A Creator that was so kind, when His children rejected His utopian vision for the universe He instantly conceived of a plan to bring them back to paradise. A Creator who spent millennia guiding a tribe of people, despite the atrocities they committed. A Creator who ultimately took the tiny, frail form of one of His creations, solely so He could tell them to be nice to each other before they brutally murdered Him. There are parts of the Bible I don't understand, but I fully believe God to be a moral entity. The Old Testament is an ancient but confusing work, and it's often hard to separate the will of God from the atrocious deeds the Israelites took it upon themselves to commit. What I focus on is the New Testament, in which Jesus makes it clear what He expects from us: for us to treat our neighbors like we'd like to be treated ourselves. This, in my opinion, is the epitome of morality. A religion that demanded us to harm others or wallow in our own selfishness would be a travesty to be opposed by any means possible, but Christianity, at its core, is centered around caring for others. It can be corrupted. I would never argue this point. More than a few of the preachers and saints throughout history have committed truly heinous acts with the claim that they were doing God's work. And the worst part is that those who have corrupted the faith have also created rather unsightly doctrines that present God as an unloving and callous being. In my experience, such as it is, many atheists and antitheists have been faced with this picture of God rather than the loving and all-embracing one that I grew up with. Whether this is the case with you or not, I hope I've successfully made a case for Christianity not as a crowd of sheep blindly following a cruel master, but as a herd following a kind shepherd to greener pastures, their only commandment to be as soft and gentle to their fellow sheep as the shepherd has been to them.
  10. Yep, this is where the madness magic happens.
  11. I'm going to post this for Green Lantern's sake:
  12. The Reckoners RPG is like a dance--you learn how to do it by joining in the fun and moving with everyone else. That said, here's some good reading material: What is Free Form Roleplaying? This thread details what kind of RP this is, with a few basic guidelines for new players. Rules and Etiquette. Essential for new players. This tells you clearly and concisely what few things are disallowed, and gives a few more friendly tips to new players. This thread details a lot of the in-jokes and fanon that have developed around the RP. The current Question thread, for all your pug, pony, and planning needs. Hope to see you around real soon!
  13. Can confirm. Wished for upvotes, now have a platypus fused to my left elbow. 3/10, would not make pacts with dark entities I don't understand again.
  14. I converted it to an MP3 and downloaded it so I can listen to it even when the Internet's out. Wasn't that part of Spider-Man 3's problem? Too many characters? Granted, most of those were villains, but I'd imagine the same basic principle applies.
  15. Ugh. That's awful. As a farmer I've lost a lot of animals. Baby rabbits, baby chickens, baby goats... it sucks no matter how big or small it is, or no matter how little or how well you knew the creature in question. Death is never an easy thing to have shoved in your face.
  16. Oh c'mon. There is no way in R'lyeh a mortal like Aquaman, even a telepathic one, could bind the priest of the Great Old Ones to his will. Aquaman might venture into Cthulhu's trench, but he'd come back a gibbering shell of the hero he once was or not at all. Ahem. Sorry, go back to your rants. (Though since you seem to be such a big fan of DC comics, Twi, I'll ask you--have you heard this fanmade Joker song?)
  17. I thought it was obvious. The word "breaker" is right there in his name.
  18. Even if he gets killed off he can always get resurrected again. And I really can't stress enough how delighted I am that people seem to love Wes the raptor. Non-human protagonists in books like Call of the Wild or White Fang have always been some of my favorite characters, and writing one of mine is a joy. ...On that note, I wonder if there's still a way to get him into the attack action. I like your idea too.
  19. That wouldn't really work, especially if he collided with the roof like mail-mi suggested. My two cents: although we've been playing this for months, the MoNA hasn't been up very long in game time. Personally, I'd like to avoid bringing it crashing to the ground just yet. When we do ultimately bring it down, I would prefer it to be a slightly more climatic event than a random MEE attack. I'm certainly open to changing my mind, if given a compelling reason to do so. But what I'm trying to stress is that the MEE can do a lot of irritating damage to the Empire without destroying the Museum--in particular, killing Lightwards will trigger his post-traumatic stress madness like nothing else. So if at all possible, I'd like to keep MoNA in the air.
  20. I agree with the GRRMoZCS&S. This is a pretty big deal, and all relevant parties should get a voice. For my part, Aldo and Cricket are both quite squishy, but depending on their distance from the blast Aldo might be able to figure out a way to keep them alive.
  21. How big would this explosion be? Would it be sufficient to bring down the Museum, or level the jungle therein? Would there be any way for the characters without PIs to survive? Not necessarily opposed, so long as characters aren't permanently killed in this blast I'd be content to have Lightwards die (and resurrect) in this assault--that could even be beneficial, as he'd be driven all the more to hunt down the MEE afterwards--but I'd rather not kill Aldo or Cricket at this time.
  22. You are simultaneously the reason we can't have nice things and the source of some of the nicest things in the RP, Twi.
  23. Also out of curiosity, what is the name for someone like yourself who believes in the Egyptian deities?
  24. I have no strong feelings one way or the other. (The best part is the number of likes/dislikes for the video. )
  25. I like it. But I must warn you, as soon as he kills Whittle Lightwards will have the raptors search the jungle for more intruders. While Mommy can hide from an Epic, she won't be able to hide from dinosaurs that can sniff her out in ten seconds flat.
