Jurassic Park III. People talk about as if it's an affront to the franchise, but I actually think The Lost World was a way inferior movie. I greatly enjoyed JPIII, and I found the concepts and characters within it fascinating. My favorite time in history? I've always found the Middle Ages and of course prehistoric eras interesting, but here lately I've been fascinated by the Byzantine Empire. It's unbelievable that an empire as strong and powerful as the Byzantines gets only a cursory mention in most history books, as its culture and history was fascinating. Least favorite time in history? Probably modern history, especially around atrocities like the Holocaust, the Rape of Nanking, the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Gulags of Stalin, and plenty of others. While all of history has been littered with these sorts of evils, it's easier to form an emotional detachment to Genghis Khan's victims than to Hitler's, and modern history is consequently far more depressing to read about. (All the more so in that the photographs and firsthand accounts make modern atrocities feel more "real" in comparison with the quasi-legendary deeds of ancient barbarians.) Modern history is arguably the most important era to study, though. Easy. Chinchillas. Just take a look at this little guy.

You've mentioned having "strange allergies" on a couple of different threads now. If you don't mind the question, what are these allergies and how difficult do they make shopping? Also, if you'd been born on Roshar rather than our fair Earth, what do you think your place in society would be?

If you became Emperor of Poland tomorrow, what's the first law you would declare to your subjects?
-
Game-tomorrow, I'd say. Early next morning Lightwards can interrogate someone on all the closest Epics in town, and upon hearing about Chimera will decide to make a "brief detour" to take the zoo. Is Chimera typically an early-riser?

Probably Aldo and Cricket. Funtimes and the Jagers would most likely be assigned to another part of the city on a mission, as he'd want to ensure the Battle of the Zoo is his victory and not theirs. Being trapped in tar and diamond all day has given him a bit of a self-worth issue. Other people's Empire characters would for the most part be welcome to participate in the battle.

I bow to your superior searching skills. So yeah, it sounds like this battle has the potential to be pretty cool. Maybe even on the scale of Funtimes vs Nighthound vs Lightwards or Impact vs Deathwish.

I remember what conversation you're talking about, but I don't remember it. And, frankly-- I'm pretty sure we agreed that Lightwards could kill and zombify chimeras without issue, but I can't remember what we decided about how Chimera would affect his Warriors. Maybe Chimera could control the Warriors, but only if he fused it with an animal that's under his own control? Essentially he'd be removing the part of the Warrior that Lightwards holds sway over.

I'd go so far as to say it's shiny. Also, I'm reading about Captain James Cook and the events of his final voyage that led to his death. I think I'm going to call him "Captain Disproportionate Retribution" from now on.

Made that less horrifying for you. I think Mabel and Funtimes would get along well.

I want to do a Lightwards post, but I'm not sure what to do besides have him sulk about Lucentia's dismissiveness.

Reminds me of a joke. Two men are walking their dogs on a hot summer day, one with a Doberman and one with a Chihuahua. Before they're ready to come home, they happen across a nice air-conditioned diner. They immediately make a beeline for it, but are dismayed to find a 'NO DOGS ALLOWED' sign hanging on the front door. Struck by an idea, the first man smiles, puts on a pair of dark sunglasses and says "Follow my lead." The first man takes the Doberman into the diner, where he's immediately stopped by the manager. "You can't bring dogs in here," the manager warns. "You don't understand," the first man explains. "This is my seeing-eye dog." "They're using Dobermans now?" the manager asks in surprise. "Yes," the man replies. "He's very loyal, and keeps me safe from thieves." The manager is satisfied and lets the first man take a seat. Putting on his own pair of sunglasses and tightening his hold on the leash, the second man enters the diner. "Hey, no dogs allowed," the manager warns again. "This is my seeing-eye dog," the second man replies confidently. "I need him to get around." The manager, however, is skeptical. "They're using chihuahuas now?" he asks, an eyebrow raised. The second man's jaw drops. "A chihuahua?" he gasps incredulously, "They gave me a chihuahua?"

The Good News Thread: I'm So Excited! And I Just Can't Hide It!
Kobold King replied to traceria's topic in General Discussion
My cats have eaten up and tormented by fleas for a while now. One of them in particular, a white fluffy kitten named Bliss, had an atrocious infestation that had him constantly scratching and rolling over during his naps. The infestation was so bad, you literally couldn't touch his face without seeing a dozen fleas scurrying away from your fingers and hiding around his eyeballs to suck up moisture. You couldn't stroke him down his back without fleas rubbing off onto your hands. The fleas didn't just make themselves at home. They developed agriculture and working civilization, worked their way up to an industrial revolution, and then had a population boom that forced them to consider space travel as a means of colonizing new cats. ... As you might guess from the thread this is being posted on, we fixed the problem. With a potent and slightly poisonous skin medication applied directly to the back of Bliss's neck, we've made his blood inhospitable and toxic to fleas, resulting in a mass die-off. Bliss is no longer scratching, and in fact has been spending all morning running around the house playing with a joy we haven't seen in him in weeks. -

If it is him, ask him what my Time travel Password is and tell it to me. Then I'll be sure it's me. XD

I think Lightwards is a rare Normal/Dark combination, so you shouldn't have any worries on that front. Steelheart did ask to speak to Remington immediately afterwards, in a private meeting. Once Nightwielder and all his other goons were out of the room, Steelheart hesitantly leaned over and asked him... "...Do you think my name's badchull enough, Mr. Springfield?"
