Ooh, good thinking whoever came up with this theory. It didn't even occur to me.
-
I just read page one, so this may have been mentioned already. There is nothing to say each of the Radiant orders are populated by people who are paragons of honour. Each may have their own moral code, so to speak, but from what we have seen, the only order that really requires their Radiants to be honourable are Windrunners, since they bond Honourspren. Shallan bonded a Liespren, and spends an awful lot of time tricking people into believing she is someone else, or sneaking around getting into places she probably shouldn't Szeth had his own code as Truthless, but the things he did were horrific, and nowhere near honourable. Even Jasnah. Not much is known about her spren (I'm not even entirely sure which order she is a member of), but going out and murdering a group of thugs, simply to prove a point. Yes, she may have been doing the city a favour, but it was certainly not an honourable move. So, for those people arguing that the Knights Radiant all need to be shining examples of paragon and virtue, I suggest you go back and reread the Stormlight Archive.

I doubt it will be all 1000 of the Bridgemen (I could be wrong though), but I think it will be just Bridge Four who become Squires. A few of them, Rock, Lopen, Sigzil, for example, should become Radiants themselves. Not for any particular reason, just because they are great, so some Spren out there should recognise this.

Theory: Honorblades are the physical manifestation of Honor
Bort replied to navybrandt's topic in Stormlight Archive
Took a while, but I found the quote again. It is on the Adonalsium page of Coppermind. So, Ruin and Preservation are physical in nature (as I understand this it means that both are external shards - you can see the effects of them on others (ie. If you ruin or preserve something, it can be seen, there is a physical difference to how it was before)). Same with Cultivation. But Honour and Hatred are both internal, or cognitive (spiritual maybe? I'm unsure), so the 'fuel' for their magics are not physical in nature.- 26 replies

They had time. The conversation where Kaladin mentioned going home was between Kaladin, Dalinar, Renarin, and Shallan. Shallan can read and write. Two minutes, which would probably be less time than would take to get their hands on the spheres he packed anyways, and she could have a writ in his hands, under Dalinar's seal/glyphpair even.

This is an interesting theory. Maybe Feruchemy also has something to do with them - horseshoes are nailed to their feet, after all.

I like Majesty. It fits really well with the two shards you chose. Odium + Cultivation = Sadism (Going by the intent - You're looked after, but hated).

Theory: Honorblades are the physical manifestation of Honor
Bort replied to navybrandt's topic in Stormlight Archive
Interesting idea, although I would point out that it has been stated (I got this info from Coppermind) that the reason Ruin's and Preservation's 'physical aspects' are metal because they are external magics. Cultivation, I would say, will also have an external magic source along a similar vein, but Honour and Odium will both be internal.- 26 replies

Theory: The Stormlight Archive is collected by the Ghostbloods
Bort replied to ChullRider's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The note at the back of Way of Kings was about the death rattle poetry at the top of that page. Something about illuminating storms above.- 14 replies

I'd lean the other way Moogle. I think Bondsmiths each bond a unique Spren as it was said that the Bondsmiths were among the most diverse of the radiant orders, and each of their members were unique (at least, I think I'm recalling this correctly). Nowhere does it state that every Radiant in an order has to be bonded to the same type of Spren. I can understand why people would make that assumption, but it is possible that the more unique Spren have their own set of abilities which are shared between them, like all Honourspren share abilities, perhaps all Godspren do too.
-
It is my belief that this is the first time the Stormfather has been bonded, and that the caveat about not being a sword for Dalinar is simply ego. Well, ego and the memory of being God. There are more than three Godspren. Stormfather, Nightmother, Cusicesh, sure, but what about the Spren that Taravangian has been tracking? There were at least another two there, although I think they probably have more to do with Odium than either Honour or Cultivation. Moloch, i think one is, but I definitely don't remember the name of the other.

I think they are going to be baffled by her. At least, after she puts them in their place when they all try to lord it over her. This sounds harsher than I mean it to, but when Shallan left, she was a timid, meek girl, and now she is a Lightweaver, Radiant, and Ghostblood. That is going to cause some confusion, and probably a bit of resentment. At first at least, Shallan is a decent person though, so it will all be sorted in the end. Once Jushu has gotten her into trouble.

"You must find the most important words a man can say"
Bort replied to Gaz's topic in Stormlight Archive
Now, that answer "He is a person who turned down what others accepted eagerly" suggests to me that he would make an ideal person to be God. Not A God like Honour, Odium, and so on, but THE God, or perhaps the personification of Adonalsium. Someone who doesn't want the power is probably the best person to have the power, as they won't abuse it. I note the line from Brandon Sanderson in the thread you linked to. Hoid has no interest in the shards, "in the state they are in". If you ask me, Hoid and Mraize (or maybe Ilyta) are in a race to see which of them can gather the various powers that be together in order to make a play for Adonalsium itself. We already know Hoid has a number of abilities, and when I think about it, there is one line in particular that makes me think Mraize is on the same page as Hoid. The line (when using the Parshendi blowgun in front of Shallan) about learning all about local weapons. It would be easy enough to dismiss this as an interest in weapons, like the blowgun, but if you think about it and introduce Worldhopping, it gives a very different suggestion, especially when it becomes clear that various items in Mraize's meeting room are from other Cosmere worlds - Idrian locks, for example.- 19 replies

"You must find the most important words a man can say"
Bort replied to Gaz's topic in Stormlight Archive
That's true. Hell, it could even mean Taravangian taking over Jah Keved. I still think it refers to Honour though, or maybe even Adonalsium (and the person picking it up would probably be Hoid).- 19 replies

I think Vin would win. Eventually. Mostly because Szeth is actually an honourable kind of guy, where Vin is a street rat. So, he would go for a straight up kind of fight, and she would lie cheat and steal her way to victory. Szeth would lose.

"He must pick it up, the fallen title! ..." Does anyone else believe that this refers to either Dalinar or Kaladin picking up the pieces of Honour?- 19 replies

This confirms that Kaladin cannot use the Stormlight equivalent from the Everstorm, otherwise there would be no reason for him to walk the last 30 miles. Which leads me to believe that the black sphere that Galivar gave Szeth at the very start of Way of Kings contains 'Voidlight' or 'Odilight' or whatever you want to call it. Makes me wonder though, how come his spheres didn't fill up with voidlight? @The Mad Reader: I doubt Kaladin's parents even know he was sold into slavery to begin with. Kaladin himself had to send word back to them of Tien's death, which suggests that there is no official military correspondence with next of kin.

You know, since having a poke around these forums, I think you might be right. One of my next questions was going to be if there was a wiki-type site containing this kind of info. I should have guessed it would have something to do with Copperminds Sorry for the utter noob-ness displayed in this thread (and no doubt others)

Ok, so forgetting Taln as the Broken One, three of sixteen ruled. Honor is dead, Cultivation pretty muich gone, and a slightly insane Odium is left. Out of the three of them, Odium does seem to be the one in charge, so broken, as in mad, maybe? This is the Seventeenth Shard, so I'm guessing the rest of the 16 Shards are the Gods in the rest of the planets in the Cosmere. Is Hoid one of the 16? If not, I'll bet he is the 17th Shard.
-
At the start of WoK, the Heralds all leave their blades behind. These are the ones the Shin have. Taln, still being a Herald after the others abandoned him, still had his.

He's not Hoid. Didn't Hoid tell Kaladin that he was on Roshar looking up an old friend, but ended up spending most of his time avoiding said old friend? Since Hoid is the only other character I know of who jumps around the Cosmere, it makes sense that someone else who has a collection of items is the old friend he refers to. I would say this puts Mraize and Hoid at odds with each other.

Was it confirmed that Amaram was using the Blade he took from Kaladin? It turned out, after all, that he owned two of them - one taken from an assassin, and one taken a few months earlier and hidden away. At least, I believe I've got the details right here, but have only read that part of WoR once sofar, so may have missed something. I think we'll find out that Kaladin didn't kill Helaran, but some other Shardbearer, and Helaran was the assassin sent after Amaram a few months later. Back on topic though, I don't think Shallan and Renarin would stand a chance. They are opposites. He is a Truthseeker, she deals in lies. That said, opposites attract, so who knows?

There are some brilliant quotes from you guys in here, and have most of the ones I would have selected already. But one of my favourites has to be when someone who deserved it got their reward. "Guys, Give the Lopen your spheres. He's got some glowing to do!" And when Shallan brought Dalinar and Navani the news about Jasnah. I felt so sorry for Navani then.
-
I don't think Taln will have his own book, if he is the last Herald. I think Rysn will have one instead. I'll agree with the others you suggest though Windrunner.

Ah, Cultivation bless Google then. It seems that Odium may well have a right to stand alongside Cultivation and Honor as Gods then. Thank you for clarifying this Rlain. Knowing the definition of Odium (the word, not the God) now, I think Odium has a place as one of the Gods. If I remember correctly, the Broken One was Taln (or Talenel'Elin - see Argent's post above) since he was the last Herald left after the others abandoned their posts and their Shards. It was up to him to bear the burden of all of the Heralds, and I think it was their leaving that gave Odium the chance he needed to weaken then break Taln, and from there to destroy Honor. I actually thought that Odium and Taln may have been the same being, with Taln being driven crazy by having to bear the weight of all Damnation instead of it being split between himself and his brothers. Turns out this is very likely wrong.
