Lateralus

Brandon obviously did a fantastic job with this book, and he's already developed characters that I care about. So much so, that the events and dialogue in this series often gets an emotional reaction out of me. I figure I'm probably not alone in this. That said, I thought I'd share a couple of the many that I found particularly poignant: Heart-wrenching to see Kaladin, at this point - having thought Syl dead - and wishing he could be that man again... Again, coming from Kaladin at nearly his lowest point, this internal dialogue really shows his vulnerability. Anyone else have any to share?

***Book 3 spoilers!*** (After Kaladin has said the 4th oath) Kaladin: hey Adolin, check out the new feature in my shardplate... Syl, activate the Butt Flap™ Adolin: why are you showing me this...? Kaladin: no reason... Shallan: *snickers* Adolin: you!!!!!

"Voidbring" being used as a verb!

My wife and mother-in-law just asked "what are you laughing about over there?" I told them that they could enjoy it too after I read both Stormlight books to them and then let them read the list, no takers... but I won't give up. Kaladin refusing to say the 4th oath about had me in tears, kudos!

This was my actual turning point, for the record... Brandon did such an amazing job showing a real transformation of their relationship. And hell, anyone who can make DarthRandModeKaladin smile is worth shipping!

Shardspear! Called that one. Nightblood! Definately didn't call that one. Kaladin jumping down into the arena, casually. All of the Kaladin/Shallan interaction, particularly the chasm. I'm not going to apologize for shipping this couple. Lopen's advice to get Syl a hat!! "If a tailor tries to charge you full price for a hat that small, you thump him real good!"

With Kaladin's new abilities, he should be able to severely TP Roshone's house. Any other ideas?

I was basically giddy with excitement, drawing strange looks from the other passengers on my flight as I giggled and mouthed "omg omg omg" to myself. Like the others mentioned, do yourself a favor and read some of Brandon's other cosmere books, Warbreaker in particular.

I walked around saying "Dammit Kaladin!" for about an hour when he blurted out his challenge to Amaram after such a fantastic duel.

Laughed out loud reading this post, and realized it's spot on. "That's right... Adolin... I am a Radiant"

Thought it was interesting that when Kaladin spoke THE WORDS, it said "the second ideal of The Knights Radiant" and during the Lift interlude it referred to the Edgedancers specifically. Obviously Brandon already had all the orders planned out, so maybe it was just eliminating confusion for dramatic effect? It worked, for sure. I still can't read that scene without getting emotional :-P

I'll let you know where NOT to buy... Ordered a signed hardcover from B&N since that was the only place to get one back in January (and I'm east coast). Called today to make sure it was on the way ... "that wont ship until the 4th"... 15 minutes of "tough love" later, they still won't ship prior, so... I guess I'll just have one signed one looking nice on the bookshelf and another one to wear out! 4 more days!
