Germany only worked because of 45 years of formal occupation. It didn't take my compatriots long to return to an auhtority-craving society with a democracy as defined by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, the major parties having formed an informal socialist bloc and the serious opposition being denounced as far-right. That's one of the reasons I moved to neighbouring Czechia several years ago. In Japan the emperor stil exists, though he has no power beyond ceremony anymore. -

Just a question, and I apologize if it was asked and answered before: Is there a WOB how the Plains were shattered? The way they look in their symmetry made me think that the fight between Odium / Rayse and Honor / Tanavast might have taken place there and caused some collateral damage i.e. the shattering of the Plains. According to AU the similar fight between Odium and Ambition had devastating consequences for the Threnodite system...

I think combining a few Shards (no more than two) can be beneficial if done the right way. BTW we already have one example for this in Harmony which of course got a good vessel in Sazed, too. I think this might be the only solution for the Odium problem.

Your belief is correct, though there are differences between the regional dialects. It is strongest in Swiss German and weakest near the coast. BTW, sz is pronounced like sh in Polish, so I say Sheth. There are some Polish emigrants in my parents' neighbourhood and they are VERY nice people.

Born & raised in Bavaria, the province of Germany in which the beerfest was invented, but now hopping between there and Switzerland. I had spells in Austria (the wee republic in the Eastern Alps, not AustrALia!!) and Scotland, too. I hope my accent is still Scottish when I speak English.

Voscaia is original, it was the name of my main character when I used to play D&D and Midgard some 25 years ago and later became the female main character of my never completed fantasy novella. I also use(d) it on sites like wotmania, fanfiction, Leaky Cauldron etc.
