  1. So far as Adolin's actions go, Sadeas's "that man just needs killed" rating (a very scientific rating system, I assure you) was so high at that point in the book that I'd have thought any random passerby killing the man to have been acting with perfect moral justification: So long as the end result was Sadeas being dead.
  2. It would be enough for me too if this was all we had, but we've had Brandon being so coy about it for so long before now...
  3. And so once again I manage to be unclear. I knew that's the one you were talking about, I just linked to it for the sake of anyone who didn't. So far as Taln goes, Brandon has been annoyingly mysterious about if Taln is really Taln, saying things like "the man who calls himself Taln" and the like.
  4. @Panda No problem here, sorry I wasn't more clear before. P.S.R: We've known that for awhile, IIRC. Though I think this new one was the most specific yet confirming that what Taln(?) had at the end of WoK was indeed an Honorblade.
  5. My post was actually directed mostly at Pifferdo and WEZ. I recognize the theoretical nature of the OP.
  6. Are we sure hat the second swing would cut the flesh? We might have reason to believe that's how it works, but I don't recall any examples of it happening. Shardblades start cutting flesh when the whole person is dead, we know, but we haven't seen the more mild case. We do have the plant Shallan murdered in the chasms, but it's unclear whether she killed the whole thing or just a segment thereof on the first go.
  7. Cool effort, Moogle. I am one of those who falls into the "put source links outside the quotes" camps, I must say. As is, it can become confusing if you Quote someone and just see a few gaps in the post where the WoBs used to be; having a "Source" url there both points out that the text of the WoB is omitted from the quote and directly links you to the WoB if you just want to quick and look at it (versus the somewhat easier option of just going back to the quoted post, but hey options are fun).
  8. It looks like this may be one of those "huzzah we get to ask a third clarifying question " moments, I think. Miyabi's interview is very very definitive on "He did not use the bead. In all of this he granted himself basically, he rebuilt himself to be extremely powerful and he did not use one of the beads", but then if he "took" one why wouldn't he use it and... I guess "Hey Brandon, if TLR took a bead but didn't use it to become an Allomancer, what'd he take(/use?) it for?" might be in order?
  9. Are we 100% that that's a contradiction? Here are the two, for ease of use: Source (Sept. 2013): Source (Sept.2014): I don't see these as necessarily being contradictory. One reading (the one I assumed when I saw the SLCC WoB) was that the second WoB is telling us that TLR took a bead of Lerasium but didn't burn it. There are quite a few scenarios where this makes sense. I myself guessed he might have used it for Feruchemy. Another option is that he burned it for Allomantic effect (if there is one), or alloyed it or some other option besides using the Lerasium to make himself a mistborn. Or he bartered it with a passing merchant for a sack of beans. Options abound. I don't really find this reading all that twisty to adopt, and I think it's a better tack to take going forward than just assuming the WoBs are contradictory. Both are verbatim and fairly clear, suggesting that simple confusion on someone's part isn't the culprit: so either Brandon very much changed his mind over the course of a single year or the first WoB's "TLR didn't use the bead to get Allomancy" still leaves us wiggle room for reasons he'd "take one for himself".
  10. @Dunkum It's a common misconception (one I held myself for some time), but in fact the duralumin is not necessarily all used up when you turbo-flare. There are a few scenes where we see this, but none so evident as when Mistborn Spoilers (though it's probably too late at this point)
  11. A good thought, hoidhunter.
  12. @Argent That's my intuition as well, but I can't recall if we have a WoB actually telling us that stronger Allomancer => more bang for the buck.
  13. Thanks for the transcript, Wetlander.
  14. @Moogle Here's the WoB. That one's so annoying to find that it gets a place in my "Impossible to find" folder. @Blaze Thanks for the applause. It is indeed my diabolical plan for everyone to eventually just start assuming I'm right.
  15. I'm sorry to say that we don't exactly have a cut-and-dried "this is how the whole thing works" model of just about any of the magic systems—even on basic levels. Some Words of Brandon of varying usefulness/difficulty-to-find, a few more or less persuasive theories... Best route to knowledge is usually just asking questions. The more bold will implicitly ask questions by posting theories, generally then to have and the aforementioned ripping occur to them: albeit in an informative and friendly manner. P.S. You probably want to just pick one thread and stick with it, btw.
  16. Okay then, just better to have all the context so if Brandon goes "Why yes, interesting question, why do you ask...?" or the like the questioner is ready to go. Expanding on the possible gains from an answer also makes it a bit more likely that people will find it interesting enough to ask, I would think.
  17. What exactly are we trying to figure out from this? She got spooked by Hoid-as-informant already...
  18. @skaa I was mostly concerned because I thought that you were saying it was a more active, intentional, controlled "doing" than it seems that Vasher's effect accomplishes. My read of Brandon here is that the other instance we've seen was a bit more impactful (if not more intentional) than Vasher's general "hey I'm a nice guy, really" aura, though it seems we differ on that interpretation.
  19. @skaa A good point; that wasn't really intentional. I'll add that to the Sel section.
  20. I doubt it, given how it looks to be more a function of kids/animals just sensing how "pure" Vasher is.
  21. Thanks for the transcript! Well that's not going to drive me mad trying to figure out or anything...
  22. Well I was Adonalsium for all of five minutes before someone *pointedly doesn't look at Chaos* went and "upgraded" the Rep system...
  23. No problem. Good luck.
  24. Isaac Stewart. He's Brandon's art guy, and designed/draws the glyphs. Here's the contact page on his website, if you want to get in touch.
