  1. I did that once... Also, Brandon's being downright positive about it on Twitter.
  2. @Miyabi/Scott We don't really have to wait for an "official" source in order for Scott to cite that q&a with Brandon as a given fact. His word is good enough, as is usually the case when we get signing reports. What we do need, however, is an explicit "I have X info from Brandon at Y event" at some point, rather than coasting along on a "well, we all know that..." and leaving everyone befuddled as to your source. It's generally appreciated if people post a thread saying "hey, I got this new info X at event Y" so that the community as a whole is made aware of any new information that surfaces, and so that everyone can cite it going forward.
  3. I doubt there is any direct connection to Forging, though I imagine similar effects to those gained by placing aims on surfaces would occur.
  4. That can be arranged...
  5. I got the Enterprise reference, but not it's connection to a need for spaceships in the Cosmere. Though surely Brandon meant that the inhabitants of these minor worlds need ships, not that other Cosmerites can't worldhop to them using their own magic systems, right?
  6. It wouldn't end well, true, but that's because they would physically die. Nothing stopping them from going all the way to the edge except practicality. There's no reason for Wax not to be able to store 100% (okay, 99.999999999999999%) weight, for instance.
  7. Sorry, I missed the part where that made sense.
  8. We have the prologue, I think.
  9. Or burn Allomantic gold and switch to burning afGold, with afGold looking different to Miles from normal Feruchemical gold.
  10. Update on the PAFO from Peter. I PM'd him and he said to say that Team Sanderson is aware of the potential issue. That is all. --- And so back to theorizing! Who needs evidence!?
  11. Yeah, that's one of those things where we just throw the MAG out the window. Any Feruchemist can store as much as he wants to, normally: probably approaching the limit of 0, but certainly not hitting a wall at 10%.
  12. Okay. I think the Vin PoV is pretty solid, but we can wait for something more if you want.
  13. It wasn't a matter of "oh, now that I've been burning for a while, I can see something else off to the side that was there the whole time." Sazed's Feruchemical pewter didn't register at all before she started burning. Link. Now maybe Miles can see it anyway because it's his store, but I think he'd have to start burning Allomantic gold before the "prompt" to burn Feruchemical gold would appear.
  14. While I agree with you that burning Feruchemical gold is fundamentally different from burning Allomantic gold, Vin actually had to burn Allomantic pewter for a moment before being able to even see the Feruchemical pewter reserve, so Miles most likley has to spend at least a split second burning Allomantic gold every time he compounds.
  15. Source for that. Interesting. That suggests quite heavily that it is about the storer not having any Identity, rather than the tapper.
  16. A decent policy. Related question: Since all the PAFO's were for questions I proposed, should I PM or Miyabi?
  17. On another topic: what's our policy when we get PAFO's? Does someone PM Peter, or is it just a matter of waiting for another opportunity to ask Brandon/Peter at a signing?
  18. Buy. Not really in the spirit, but "<the following user> was surprised that Kaladin's first scene in WoR started off literally right after the end of WoK."
  19. *TES Spoilers* Where did the gilt on Shai's desk come from? Or her regrown hair when she removed the beggar!Shai stamp? Or the glass in her window, or marble for her floor? I think magic in the Cosmere can just make stuff appear, without the excessive energy costs we normally associate with matter-creation.
  20. @Shardlet I ninja, therefore I ninja. I keep a close eye on my threads. The Venn diagram question was specific because I wrote it that way, in order to settle the question of normal overlap without running afoul of the possible complications of subjective burn rates. It succeeded in that goal, and the question I asked Miyabi to ask was the natural follow-up. Though there is a possibility that Brandon simply stopped grasping the question once math got involved—and so didn't realize the easy answer—it stands to reason that, if you are right, he would have said "oh, if the bubble-maker is inside the other bubble, they both just vanish" regardless of what numbers were thrown at him. Instead he PAFO'd, suggesting a more complex interaction. Beyond that, your assumption of complete cancellation seems a bit unfounded. We've gone from people arguing that any overlap results in cancellation—when we didn't know anything—to now narrowing it down to just bubbler-including overlap. Could you provide some justification for the narrowing of circumstances that result in cancellation, then? A literal reading of the AoL quote runs afoul of WoB, and a more nuanced one that avoids WoB but retains complete cancellation in some circumstances doesn't seem warranted at this point.
  21. I wouldn't think of it in such Einsteinian terms. You store Health, that quality which is your body's ability to stay or return to as it ought to be in the face of attack. You then tap it. I don't think reducing it to a discussion of energy is helpful.
  22. Sell. Too early/obvious, I think. Hoid will be outed as a worldhopper by Rosharians in the first 5 books of the Stormlight archive.
  23. Yes, I am aware of that quote. I found it ambiguous as well, but then Shardlet was kind enough to clear it up: it works like a Venn diagram. What remains, though, is the question of when the misting(s) is encompassed by another bubble. Which question you were kind enough to get a PAFO for. Although, that PAFO does suggest that subjective burn rates don't factor into FTL, assuming that Brandon understood the question and its implications. He definitely knows how FTL works off the top of his head without needing to PAFO.
  24. "Peter and find out". It means that Brandon is willing to answer, but doesn't know the right answer off the top of his head.
  25. What Shardlet said, I would think. Faceting is about more than just removing flaws.
