  1. Could it be possible Kaladin’s resistance isn’t solely related to investiture? When he initially feels the dampening effect, he assumes it is simply his depression and pushes through it, like he has had to do many times throughout his life. Maybe he has a bit of natural resistance built up from fighting in this familiar battlefield. That, coupled with his level of investiture, could have given him an advantage.
  2. Crazy idea but what if Iyatil and all of the Southern Scadriens weren't originally from Scadrial. Maybe Kelsier saved them from whatever fate they were facing in the flashback, maybe even with Sazed's blessing. So Iyatil is from Scadrial but not her people.
  3. It's certainly plausible. They would be operating hundreds of years after the events of M:SH. Plenty of time for Kelsier to recruit a solid "crew". Roshar also seems to be an important battleground in the cosmere (and quite full of worldhoppers). I'm guessing Blightsongs theory stems from the Ghostblood in the mask being a southern Scadrial. Who knows though, she could be working for anyone.
  4. I agree with Lord Pifferdoo. My interpretation was that he was too proud, or didn't feel Dalinar was "worthy" of his trust in bearing him as a Shard. In fact I think it's very possible Dalinar will prove his awesomeness to the Stormfather and, in a clutch moment, save Dalinar by finally materializing as a super badass shardblade!
  5. What if a Bondsmith's task is not only to unite men but also Spren? We know that not all spren seem to get along. In fact some are rather hostile to each other. I remember Syl disliking both Highspren and Pattern (liespren?). Maybe part of a Bondsmith's unique power comes from bonding the unique "leaders" of the Spren. Syl refers to the Stormfather as her father. Wyndle makes a reference to his mother. Maybe there is a 3rd as well. A Bondsmith's bond with these Spren leaders could put him in a unique position to influence all spren into setting aside their differences and working together as one cohesive team. You thought uniting men was hard! Think about all the extremes in all the sprens' ideals. I could say more but this is a quick post I squeezed in on my lunch break!
  6. So we assume Tanavast formed the Oathpact with Rayse involving the heralds to limit the desolations. The spren started the Nahel Bond with men to mimic what Tanavast did for the heralds with the honorblades. What if the Heralds, by breaking their oaths, damaged the original oathpact. What if the Radiants or the spren made a new oathpact with Odium that the current "living" spren knew nothing about. What if the Recreance, breaking the Nahel Bond, was part of this new pact. They lock up Urithiru, foresake their oaths, and walk away. Maybe the resurgence of the Nahel Bond is weakening or breaking this new pact. What do you think?
  7. Hey everyone I'm Gyth, HUGE Sanderson Fan. I was scared to pick up the WoT series when I heard Jordan had cancer before he finished his series. Someone told me this guy Brandon Sanderson finished his series and it was great so I gave it a shot. After finishing that I realized how awesome Sanderson was and started picking up his other works. Then was blown away by his cosmere when I found it. Stormlight Archive is a masterwork that I am soundly hooked. I relisten to the audio books everyday driving to and from work now and whenever I get a lunch break. I want to say how awesome everyone is on these forums as well! Thanks for just being here. First forums I have ever joined. I am leaving on a cruise for the week and can't wait to see what's new when I get back! Bon Voyage!
  8. The latest Q&A someone asked: Q: Will a Radiant using an honorblade get those surges, too? A: Yes, "it is possible to get multiples." So what surge combo would you want to see? It may be kinda early for this questions considering we don't know a whole lot, but lots of cool implications. Or dangerous baddies.
  9. I was checking out the Introduce yourself forums and I came across Rererak's post. He asked a questions about how the highstorms affect the pupation of chasm fiends. It makes perfect sense considering their "heart" is a gemstone that would absorb the storms' stormlight. It could fuel their growth or change, among other things. I'm not sure if this has been brought up, but thanks for posting that question and answer Rererak and Shardlet, It's what caused my consideration I wonder what implication this could have on the origination of great shells. Which came first, the chasm fiends, or the highstorms.
  10. Awesome signing! I have only one thing to say. Kaladin duel wielding honorblades
  11. Someone could certainly have swapped out Taln with Jezrien, who we know is missing his honorblade.
  12. Is the ability to worldhop to and from Roshar easier or unique to Roshar? If yes, does presence of the Shards of Adonalsium influence this?
  13. I believe he is Taln. When he shows up at the gate speaking "perfect Alethi" he seems coherent. It's possible after he collapses and loses consciousness, he loses his grip on reality. It's possible the torture is to blame. Sure, he broke. He is a warrior. He is one of the Almighty's champions. When Amaram chases after the assassin, I like to think the possible threat of voidbinders attacking, stirred something primal and innate in Taln. Once he realizes it was a simple assassin, he slips back into his trance. Or Taln was at the gates. Then somehow he was switched for Jezrien. He could have broke from the guilt of leaving Taln to endure alone. Who knows, in his guilt Jezrien could have fixated on Taln to the point he lost track of who he was.
  14. What if Darkness' goal, as the military police of the Radiants, was actually to protect the spren from those Radiants who would forsake their oaths? After witnessing the events of the Recreance he could be enforcing this a bit more harshly.
  15. Back to Mr T having visions. It's already been mentioned that Bondsmiths could bond with specific spren. Maybe Mr T could be receiving visions from another unique spren, such as the Nightmother, or less likely, Cusicesh. Maybe those unique spren are tied to Cultivation, with a slightly different agenda. Just a thought.
  16. Wow nice shinintendo! Thanks Peter, no idea what you posted until Shin's post
  17. I don't know anything about what Peter just posted but I have an idea to share. I am keen on Roshar acting as a nexus for travel. I feel like the proximity of the Shards in this solar system, and the investiture they bring, could have weakened the "wall" between the physical realm, the cognitive realm, and even possibly the spiritual realm. Maybe, for certain beings of investiture, freely traveling through the cognitive realm and passing through, into the physical realm on Roshar, is possible. Possibly at specific points, like the horneater peaks. Or maybe it functions as an Oathgate, just on a much different, and grander scale. Is this the right thread to post something like this?
  18. What if she mixed love with her scholastic pursuits? A story of redemption. Eshonai is her bitter enemy, until... Jasnah finds a way to redeem her from the hateful spren she is bound to. She falls in love as Jasnah learns more about the Parshendi than she could have ever expected.
  19. Aimians do seem to be cognitive creatures.. It would make sense if they were closely related in some way with the Spren or Shadesmar. They can change their physical form with a bit of focus. Pretty strong cognitive powers if you ask me.
  20. You guys are way off... Jasnah totally digs women.
  21. I've spent some time staring at the map of Shadesmar (along with a few others), over the past few days, and something seemed to come together. What if "violet" doesn't have anything to do with Odium specifically? I would lean more towards red, if anything. What if purple actually has more to do with the Spren or, more fundamentally, the cognitive realm. Maybe the Inverse Radiant Chart is really just the Sprens version of what we have done in the physical realm. WoR does say the Almighty, Tanavast, was surprised at what the Spren had done to mimic what he had created with the heralds. Maybe their chart came before the Radiants. I'm not saying Cultivation couldn't have had her hands in that pie too.
  22. Just seeing those beautiful Spheres of Roshar was worth staring at these maps for days. ^.^
  23. I know what you mean Rshara, it does look like it wants to be text. I played with the colors and textures for a while, specifically at that position. I didn't come up with anything. It may just be textures.
  24. Have the symbols on the top and bottom border of that map been deciphered?
  25. I am curious if there is any information on the ancient city of Akinah. I am not sure if anyone has noticed that the symbol bordering the entire map is in Kabsal's notes. I will try to upload the pics.
