  1. Oh wow. I don't even know how to begin my response here, because my memory is crap. I don't remember my first fantasy novel, which will make this post rather dull. I guess if I think back, there were these Magic Treehouse books... Mind you, this was before I was ten. Hmmm. I honestly don't know. My biggest introduction into speculative fiction was through video games. I love RPGs. I love magic. I also loved Starcraft (for the story over the gameplay) and the spaceships, so it's no wonder I'm a speculative fiction person. The first fantasy novel for me was probably Harry Potter. At least, that's the only one which still remains on my bookshelf. I eventually made my way to Eragon, which seemed good at the time. My defense is that I think if I reread it, I would feel that it's pretty lame. Don't look at me that way. But my first introduction to the best fantasy was Brandon. Aside from the ones I'm remembering now, I can't recall any other fantasy novel which really propelled me into the genre. I'm really here because I was used to fantasy from video games, honestly.
  2. So I noticed this about Shadesmar: all the things come in threes. Sea of Regrets, Sea of Souls, Sea of Lost Lights Nexus of Truth, Nexus of Transition, Nexus of Imagination Expanse of the Densities, Expanse of the Broken Sky, Expanse of the Vapors Three sets of three, even. Considering we have three Shards on Roshar (and don't say we don't. I mean it. I will smack you), they could correspond to Shards. Or they could correspond to the three Realms--Physical, Cognitive, and Spiritual. Or both. But we haven't done much theorizing about that Shadesmar image, so let's get to it right now!
  3. I'm going to comment on my own question. Obviously, there are Windrunners who also have Shardblades. Szeth, naturally. If he has a spren, somewhere, then this invalidates this idea that if Kaladin grabbed a Shardblade, he'd lose Syl. Unless there's more going on with the Shardblades. I'm reading some very interesting theories on Stormblessed that I don't know what to think of yet. Namely, http://www.stormblessed.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=325
  4. It's not Charity. Check out this twitter exchange between Brandon and I: Me: So Aona is a synonym for love, hmm? Is Charity the correct Shard name? Brandon: Not quite. I'm trying to remember what the guesses were for the other Shard on Sel. I may have dismissed them too quickly. Me: How about Mercy for Aona, then? The guesses for Skai's Shard include Devotion, Obedience, and Order Brandon: Okay, I was right, then. Ha There's something very ironic in all of this. Kerry has now tweeted him asking if Devotion is Aona's Shard. Like we got it all reversed. Discuss!
  5. On the plus side, we have more information. We have yet another Shardholder name. On the other side... "That was the name of the original holder of the Shard Honor". This phrasing is very careful. He's getting way too good at RAFOing. I think the most likely interpretation for that "original holder" is: Tanavast did hold that Shard, but now he's dead, and obviously doesn't hold the Shard anymore.
  6. held the Dor
  7. So now the question of the day is, if Kaladin did have a Shardblade, would he still be able to bond with Syl, or would these supposedly corrupted Shardblades disrupt it?
  8. The stone door
  9. That strategy doesn't work on planes I don't think its a big deal, having the 3D not work with other people. I'd have to turn it off, sure, but 3D without glasses would have to be personal. Something you have to experience yourself. So that's the cue to hand the 3DS to your friend.
  10. liked stone doors
  11. to the Dor
  12. after the pirates
  13. liked cheese monkey
  14. Entirely possible. If anything, however, the Dawnblades/Dawnshards are of Honor, as those are what the Heralds used. Interesting point on the nahel bond with the Radiants, and how that would influence the Shardblades. I didn't think of that before.

    RSS feeds

Yeah there might exist some RSS options we haven't noticed yet.
  16. I disagree with you, KChan, CrazyRioter's explanation is sufficient to solve that the Shaod after the Reod. Once that mechanism begins, I'd say it's essentially impossible to stop it, Shard Intent or not. People died during the mist Snappings; that's not of Preservation. But at that point there's not a lot he could do about it. (EDIT: The Principle of Intent only says how normal magic users operate. Shards are fragments of creation. Preservation can destroy if its mind has willed it to be so, in the case of Vin) The biggest clue to Aona's nature are the Seons, really. But we don't know how the Shaod or the Dor works well enough to use them as good examples. I like Charity over Mercy.
  17. Same reason Preservation had Allomancers use atium: its useful, and it keeps a fragment of Odium's power away from him?
  18. rather uncannily accurate

    RSS feeds

Hmmm. That's really bizarre how it's not already there. I'm sure I can do it (because Dragonmount does, and their on IPB as well), but it'll take a bit of time.

    Status Updates

Nice. An excellent suggestion with an easy solution. I'll get right on it. EDIT: And done. That was easy.
  21. Well, I'm encouraged now Unrelated: I think I've cracked this scene in my book. You know that advice where you shouldn't do flashbacks? Oops. I mean it's in magic, story appropriate, and isn't even a flashback from the same character's viewpoint. Anyways, that thing I'm flashing back to? I finally have the right scene for it, and this excites me.
  22. Confession: I have Chrono Trigger DS, but the beginning was so dull I put it down.
  23. With a good group, Shiro really is easy to beat. That's why he chose a much more sinister form now...
  24. We don't know what Shard spren are of, nor do we know about Shardblades. It is entirely up in the air. It's possible that Plate is of Honor (given their gemstones), while Shardblades are of Odium.
  25. On a more serious note, my random idea of Shardblades being Splinters should probably be given merit. No theory (to my knowledge) explains what they are, and this is a possibility.
