  1. No problem. Turns out I'm just a moron. The ancient splash page is now what's there, but soon we intend to move to the new Pages system.
  2. Yes. I didn't know this happened until today. Obviously it is not supposed to be the front page.
  3. Messed around with .htaccess files. Inadvertently prevented people from viewing the Wiki, though I fixed it now. Most hilariously, I transformed the main page to the ancient splash page.

    Adventures in Codeland!

Guess who just upvoted this blog post
  5. I would like to announce that Euler's formula is cool. Explaining it to linguistics majors is nontrivial
  6. Vin is kicking serious butt, as she should.

    the Great Elantris Reread

I love it, especially since most 17th Sharders (like me) are woefully out of date on their knowledge of Elantris. Since you're the Elantris expert, I have a theory for you to read before I go post it and people laugh at me. You should IM me sometime!
  8. I decided Zas was to be staff long before his application
  9. Odium IS the third Shard on Roshar.
  10. You don't. You will soon, though.
  11. "Oh no! The koloss is angry at me!" "Ya think? Did you really need atium for that?"
  12. Indeed. I was merely making the comment that if someone sees the future, they are probably a Splinter (or ingesting atium). I've been thinking a while why Ruin didn't foresee Preservation's plan. He should have the same capability as Preservation, right? Was that power isolated in the atium or something? It doesn't quite make sense in my mind. Atium or no atium, Ruin should've been able to predict Preservation. Maybe he predicted Preservation and simply got it wrong. But still, there's a missing piece to the puzzle there.
  13. I don't know, the read-up on the Jacob fight was pretty hilarious. At least, the final line.
  14. Which would work great, had I not worded this question cleverly: This was taken from some event Mi'ch was at. The answer isn't a direct quote, but I'm fairly certain they read my question exactly. So unless Brandon misinterpreted my meaning, then the answer is three, and always has been. Odium's trip to Sel was said to be "short", which must mean he came back to Roshar pretty quickly. Maybe it was about at that point the Oathpact happened, binding Odium to this world.
  15. Hey, I recognize that one. That's what we use to shanghai new staff members!
  16. So, this is a very interesting excerpt from the newest Warbreaker annotation: Emphasis mine. I would immediately conjecture that it such a power is not exclusive to Returned; any Splinter would have this capability. After all, Wyrn can see the future. That must mean he's a Splinter. That's pretty interesting, when you think about it. We know Preservation could see into the future, and apparently Cultivation is good at it. So Shards have this capability. But Slivers like Vin and the Lord Ruler don't seem to...
  17. Do you remember last year, when Suvudu.com held their Science Fiction/Fantasy cage match? You know, the one Rand al'Thor won? Well, the 2011 cage match starts right now. Guess who's on the bracket? Our dear friend, Vin. Vin's first opponent is from Logen Ninefingers, from the First Law Trilogy. But come on. Vin + atium? Yeah, I think she beats a barbarian, even atium-less. You should go vote for her. Have multiple computers? Maybe a cell phone with internet capabilities? Go vote for her again. This match ends on Thursday! Her opponent after Logen will be either Jacob Black or Eric Northman. I'm kind of hoping Jacob wins that one, so we can see Vin utterly destroy the werewolf. You can see the entire bracket here: http://suvudu.com/2011/03/your-2011-cage-match-contenders-video.html

  20. Welcome to Shardbook.

  22. Serious flaws appearing in my Elantris theory. I'll probably post it regardless. So it's 3:30, and I'm done reading the Elantris annotations. This was not the best use of my evening... but whatever.
  23. I would like to announce that Zas's Brandonothology is awesome, especially its link to the Elantris annotations. It made me reread the ending of Elantris. And, more importantly, I have the beginnings of a complete picture of how the Shards work on Sel. EDIT: Of course I'm going to make you until tomorrow, because I'm cruel.
  24. I think you're right. Remember, that previous statement of mine was complete idiocy.
