Topic Revival, because of our awesome chat channel! This makes more sense when you realize earlier said "[00:49] <lyssie95> I have a crush on every boy". Zas has does not have a crush on Eero. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST.

I would like to announce that I love youtuberepeat.com.

1. Gen 4 had more legendaries. 2. I agree with the people above; there have always been exceptionally lazily designed Pokemon. Everyone loves bringing up Vanilluxe as the example where Black and White jumped the shark, but Black and White had some awesome Pokemon. Exhibit A: http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-bw/604.shtml (yes, an electric type with Levitate, so it has no weaknesses. Oh, and it freaking learns Crunch). They can't all be winners. 3. I actually wasn't talk about Black City or White Forest. I don't care about those. I was more talking about post-Elite Four trainers that you actually didn't immediately wipe the floor. The level curve in Eastern Unova is so awesome that way, with Pokemon getting much stronger. I really appreciated that. 4. They annoyed me way less Gen 3 and Gen 4's childhood friends because they actually occasionally did something important to the plot. So honestly, Black and White is exactly like every other Pokemon game. Some great new Pokemon, some less-than-great Pokemon. The difference here is that the plot made me like the games much better, and I feel that this game was the most balanced of all of them. I also never needed to level-grind, which is a strongly appreciated plus. Red and Blue were great, but seriously, you had to fight wild Pokemon endlessly to get ready for the Elite Four (FireRed and LeafGreen mitigated this a lot with the Sevii Islands). From a purely mechanical perspective, Black and White were the easily some of the best games. I thought Gen 3 was a step backwards from how great Gen 2 was, and Gen 4 was not the best. Gen 5 actually wrapped up the incremental improvements of Gen 3 and Gen 4 and made it into a package that was truly awesome.

Here, let me give you some. "I'm playing video games, which is a way more enjoyable use of time than working for this hellscape." "I'm cleaning gum out of my hair." "My car broke down for the past six months. It simply can't survive the drive to get to work. It'll drive me everywhere else, but strangely, not there. Funny, that." "I'm making out with my Canadian boyfriend. Yes, all day." "I got another job." "I'm moving away to Alaska. Sorry. Bye, you all suck." "My cat had kittens. Yes, again." Pick any, or a combination of them. Maybe it's just me, but I don't find lying to get out of working for people you hate to be morally wrong. You have zero obligation to work for them. If you like, quit again and when they call you up again, spew profanity. That'll work Okay, not a really mature reaction, especially if you're putting the employment experience on your resume. If you've worked with them long enough, you'll probably have to. But still. You do not have to be nice to people who are awful to you. It's a hard conversation to say no when they need your help, but you know what? You'll be better off. And I'm sorry, the "we'll only hire girls" thing is BS. In this economy, they can find some other poor sap to drain the life out of. You have zero obligation to help them. If they really can't find anyone to replace you when there are people looking for jobs, perhaps they don't deserve to be in business and kind of suck at the whole "hey maybe let's not abuse our employees and have unreasonable expectations of them." It's not your fault if they suck. Yes, work isn't supposed to be happy-go-lucky-fun-time, it's work. But it's also not supposed to be judgmental-unreasonable-hellscape-oh-God-why-do-I-even-wake-up-to-go-to-this-place. Just leave. They are not your friends. And if you left on poor circumstances and they still asked you back, clearly you need to make a bigger ruckus

You have to realize that the way I listen to music is very atypical to, like, normal people. I often listen to a single song multiple times in a row, then go into the next song. I don't use shuffle, and I rarely use playlists. I listen to the song I want to listen to. I do this thing with Winamp that has it always on top of the screen. Right now, it's on my second monitor, and it works excellently and very fast. There's lots of reasons why I dislike iTunes. Firstly, when I originally installed it for my iPod Touch, iTunes decided I wanted every media on my computer in my library. No thanks. I happen to know what media I want in my library, and I already have it organized like I prefer in my folder system. I am perfectly competent enough to find the song I want to listen to on my own. Thankfully, I did eventually find the Drop to iTunes Library folder, which helped, but honestly, I don't need a freaking iTunes library. Maybe I just want MP3's without the necessity to add everything to a library. I think the interface is just... really bad. The options I would want are hidden. It's pretty slow. It incessantly wants updates. I loathed ever opening the program, to the point where I'd have bought music and didn't put it on my iPod simply because I hated iTunes that much. And the music I really want to buy (Japanese pop music) isn't on iTunes to my satisfaction. Now, it's not on any American digital music service, so I'm not going to knock iTunes for that. However, if iTunes had such music, I might actually be compelled to use it or buy something from there, but it doesn't, so I'm not going to. Quite simply, there is absolutely nothing about iTunes I like, and it's just not how I want to listen to music. Now, I have no idea if things have gotten better since I uninstalled it last year. I don't care to find out. Uninstalling iTunes after I sold my iPod to Kerry was exhilarating. I'm not going to install it ever again, unless I'm under extreme duress. (I suppose I may have to install it to test and see if ShardCast gets on iTunes, but I will not enjoy the experience). You also need to realize that I have a longstanding bias against iPods which stems from requiring iPods to sync with iTunes. I remember the days when I could use my MP3 player as a flash drive, which was really useful when I needed to transfer files to and from school. But with iPods, you couldn't do that. I still think that's completely idiotic. And post-iPod, every other MP3 player manufacturer wanted you to install software before using it, thus making them less useful in the process. I do not need help freaking moving music to a device. Drag-and-drop is much quicker, and doesn't require additional crappy software for it to work. And that's the whole thing: I'm sure iTunes works great for people, but it's forcing me into a paradigm that is ultimately not as useful for me. I had gotten an iPod Touch for free, and it certainly is the best pure MP3 player, but now I use my Galaxy Nexus with Google Music across all my devices. I'm much better for it. That may be a difference between Mac and PC versions. As far as I know, the PC version is slower than the Mac one as well.

I agree with Windrunner's analysis on the Dragonsteel thing, though this could be important, I suppose. @Sir Read-a-lot, that didn't seem too surprising to me. We kind of figured that Hoid was in Dragonsteel, and from the Alloy of Law release, we knew Hoid was going to have a big part in the third Mistborn trilogy.

Sweetness, you don't have to say yes to being with them anymore. You quit. You never have to say yes or be guilt-tripped into doing more. Screw that.

But even consensual Hemalurgy would be quite damaging to the donor. While it is possible to do it non-lethally, it still rips off a large part of your soul. In Brandon's words, "You wouldn't be the same." The way he said it Alloy made it sound extremely damaging. That said, people will do a lot for money, so it could happen. I do believe that being such a donor would be much more harmful than becoming a drab on Nalthis, very much so. But for the right price? Who knows.
-
Thanks for that, Lyssie. I'm just a moron. I'll be noting which questions will be asked, but we will wait till the Youtube one. Windrunner, get in the IRC channel so we can coordinate our note-taking.

In about an hour, Brandon is going to be doing a Google+ Hangout in Sydney, Australia. For those of you who don't know, it's a group video chat thing for Google's social network, Google+. While we are pretty certain that the people who would join Brandon in the Hangout have already been chosen, however, this will be a "Hangout on Air", which means we all get to listen to people chat and ask questions to Brandon! It begins at 10:50 Eastern time, or 7:50 Pacific. To join, apparently you will need to be following Google Australia, as that's where the Hangout will appear. In other news, we last discussed The Emperor's Soul, the new Cosmere novella coming out late this year? Yeah, yesterday it became known that this book actually takes place on the planet Sel, the world of Elantris. It doesn't share any of the same characters (which astute readers will note that this means that this is not the Elantris sequel), but it does kind of make sense. China is the one culture we haven't seen in Sel yet, after all. Lastly, 17th Shard now has an IRC channel (a chat room). We will get an interface on the main site soon, but in the meantime, you can go to webchat.freenode.net, in the channel #cosmere. Happy Hanging out! EDIT: The nice thing about Hangouts on Air is that they auto-post to YouTube, so here's the video file: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsrA90wsTv8 Some of it was already known, but there were two cosmere questions which were awesome. First, more sentient spren exist. Secondly, Honor was Splintered.

The Emperor's Soul *Elantris Spoilers*
Chaos replied to Windrunner's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
Well that's pretty awesome that it's on Sel. And when you think about it, not surprising with the Form-based Investitures in Forging. -
Conversely, I prefer the Windows environment because I find the Mac way of doing things to be not my preferred way of operation. Windows gives me greater choice, and so I can work in whatever way is convenient to me. Maybe my way is horribly inefficient, but I can develop whatever system I want, not a one-size-fits-many solution. It's totally a different philosophy, and neither one is wrong, but I like the Windows way better. EDIT: For example, iTunes is most certainly not how I want to play my music ever, and I feel like I'm being forced into a paradigm that doesn't fit me.

How do you figure? Black and White got me excited about Pokemon again, and the story was very good. Black and White was exactly what Pokemon needed after, in retrospect, a pretty bad Gen 4 with Diamond and Pearl. Black and White was cohesive and awesome. I would've liked some additional old Pokemon (Eevee, better Psychic types), but Black and White were excellent, and actually had post Elite Four content that wasn't just stupid mini games.

So this just happened: http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/4/16/2952127/pokemon-black-2-and-white-2-has-new-gyms-and-areas-first-trailer Let's recap. It is a freaking direct sequel to a Pokemon game, where the world has progressed (half of Unova is encased in ice), new gyms, and a really big regional Pokedex compared to Black and White, including Eevee. I am freaking excited.

Also, if he likes humor, the joke where Breeze is the Minister of Sanitation is a good one That is so awesome. I would like to announce that I may need to be extremely scarce online for the next two weeks. I have so much writing to do for my thesis...

Theory on why Vin avioded Hoid *Minor spoilers for WoK*
Chaos replied to Nesh's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I'm moving this topic to General Theories, simply because it's treading too deeply into cosmere stuff that might spoil some people who've just read Mistborn. -

The 18th is when it happens in Australia, but it happens late on the 17th for us in the 'States. Massive time zone change I've edited the post to make it clear it's 11pm Eastern. -
A countdown clock will be very doable when our site refresh hits in May/June. There will be some perfect spots for a countdown clock. Additionally I intend to use our Calendar feature more so we have all of Brandon's events there. The trivia generator would take more coding, but also possible. I still have my list of trivia questions from the Alloy of Law release

What are you playing right now?
Chaos replied to Link Von Kelsier Harvey's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Definitely not for April Fool's. It was a hacker known as the Cheese Lord.
