Shardcast: He Who Quiets

Chaos
 Share

Last time we talked about Moash in a meta sense, but let's dig a bit more into Moash, who now holds the title of He Who Quiets. But, of course, we also need to talk about Grace's villain crush, who used to hold that same title: El!

This episode we have Eric (Chaos), Ian (Weiry), Alyx (Feather), and Grace (thegatorgirl)! Thank you to Alyx for editing this one while I was getting married this weekend.

This is the first time I've heard the whole set of epigraphs together, and I think I have a new favorite monologue.

Also, congratulations, Chaos!

Congrats on your marriage, Chaos, LL!

I hope the Moash Taravangian interaction potential is used and TOdium doesn't just continue to hide it. Would also love to see Fused reactions.

Moash's blindness... I'll feel a bit iffy if it's just magically healed or he's killed off, potentially a bit disrespectful to blind people. I don't think he'll remain blind though. We missed out on Leshwi Moash interactions after that, as Moash became dead inside. It was nice to see him interacting with the surviving Singer refugees for a little while.

It was Hnanan who gave Moash the knife, not Leshwi. I think she was the one who gave him the title though.

Congrats on the Marriage Chaos! Wishing you two many happy years together!

That comment about El using the metal to do like a human cosplay gave me the biggest chuckle I've had in a while.

I swear I forget about Moash's blindness until you guys mention it. Even in between comments; it just doesn't stick in my head for some reason xD

But yeah, is there an in-world reason that won't just get magically healed? Would Taravangian do that for Moash? It does seem pointless for Brandon to climactically blind Moash at the end of the book only to have him be immediately healed when we get Book 5.

Well in the Stormlight archive Kaladin's dangerous brand wouldn't come off of him so maybe scars that run deeper than flesh and into the soul have a different effect when used stormlight on: untill you resolve the conflict inside of yourself then the outer wound can't be healed.

Random thought: we know Moash got his title “He Who Quiets” after killing a herald permanently. But heralds couldn’t die permanently before this. What if El got the title be killing the person who was meant to be a herald before Taln?

All the talk about El possibly wanting to learn about Dalinar from his furnishings reminded me of Thrawn from old Star Wars. Learning about your enemies from their art choices is a fun trait

Okay, another thought after re-listening to this episode. Not sure if it’s plot significant, but it’s an interesting thematic connection at least that neither of the two people who we see having the title “he who quiets” can hear the rhythms, which definitely plays along the quietness theme.
