Blood, sweat, tears, and a whole lot of duct tape.

You should hear this a lot, but it don't mean that it's not relevant: Practice, practice, practice.

It's okay to reference other people's art; heck, I do it all the time when I get stuck. References are your friend.

Draw every day, even if it's a little doodle.

Do anatomy studies. Sounds boring, but it so helps.

And.. idk, practice. Always practice.

If you've seen my progression as an artist a few posts back, you should understand that I'm not the best at it lol.

Going from drawing to writing without any time to prepare is a weird experience lol.

Spoiler

And yeah, here’s a sketch, even tho like very few of y’all will care.

It’s been a bit since I’ve posted art lol. Mostly because of school and some mental stuff.

Spoiler

It’s ya boi: Camilo Madrigal from Encanto.

Turns out when you put on a lullaby like song on while you’re running on about five to four hours of sleep, you fall asleep for about an hour and you wake up dehydrated and confused.

Spoiler

This was mostly so I could get a feel for what Yulong looks like when she fights for a drawing that involves Fadran’s character sometime in the future. I’m horrible at drawing poses especially ones like these, so sorry lol.

Spoiler

Oh, and here’s Fadran’s character that I mentioned: Elya from the Zvso rp. This is actually my second attempt at drawing her, and I’m not going to show the first attempt because I don’t like it and y’all don’t need to see it. And don’t worry, this has been Fadran approved.

Dangit, Synnie, I'm all outta rep and it's your fault :-P

Anyways, YOUR ART IS INCREDIBLE AS ALWAYS MY GOSH

One day, I’m going to murder the person who thought that forcing students to learn about math principles they’ll never use ever again was a good idea.

Spoiler

More posesss, yayy. Did these last night when I wasn’t doing schoolwork.

I maintain my opinion that math and ELA should be electives, at least at the high school level. You don't need to know the quadratic formula to be a functioning human being.

Just.. have my rant here.

Spoiler

Heck yeah, they should be electives. I personally don’t see the fairness of how art is an elective, but heaven forbid, you have to find the area under a weirdly shaped curve that you will never do again; plus, it’s 90% of your grade, so good luck with that!

For someone like me, math is especially hard for my mush of a brain to wrap itself around. I swear, I really didn’t have good teacher but I was homeschooled for about ten years of my life and my mother did a great job and nobody can say otherwise to teach me these sort of stuff. I would much rather do something art related or even write a paper; actually, I would enjoy writing papers.

When someone is not good at art, society is like: “Oh, it’s okay. Art isn’t for everyone,” but heaven, frickn’ forbid when someone can’t figure out a math equation, society and the American education system’s here like: “You can’t figure out [insert math equation here]? Man, you’re so stupid. You’re not going to graduate now.” But I’m going to call bullcrap on that, because art is just as, if not harder than math. If we’re talking about figure drawing (drawing humans), then you have to learn what human anatomy looks like, how to draw decent looking humans, what the difference between colors are and where to use them, etc., etc.. If you’re going to draw animals, you’re going to have to learn basically the same things, but for animals.

When was it socially acceptable for people to be bad at art, but not at math? Like, I get it: Math is in everything we do, including music and art, and that’s a fact that I know and accept, because I can’t deny it. But there are some people who do not do well when confronted with a math equation, like me. And then the education system forces you to learn it regardless, because guess what? You can’t get out of school that you’ve been in for twelve years unless you know why Janie wants to make 10 lemon pies and how much it will be for each lemon she buys.

You know how soul crushing it is when you don’t get a math equation right, even after all the hard work you do to understand it? You feel more stupid and like everything is going to cave in; that does not happen when you do art. At least, I hope that doesn’t happen. Anyways, you’re learning harder math principles that you’ll never use later in life, unless you decide to become a mathematician or when your future child comes up to you for help on an equation like this.

If I weren’t so tired, I would go on about this for ages, but that’s enough for now.

And yeah, here’s another drawing.

Spoiler

I dunno why, but this one took a bit to make, and since I’m still recovering from making it, I just don’t want to look at it, ‘cause I know I’ll start hating it. But here it is anyways. It’s just the Natives of Zvso.

Many faces! Heck yeah!

Also I concur on the math thing. I feel like it should get up to Algebra and finish there. Solving for x is really scudding important, but learning about logarithms and the quadratic formula is pretty much pointless.

Says me, the guy who just posted a status update with a math joke

First off, those faces are stunning!  As someone who has a really bad habit of drawing the same vaguely feminine face on any portrait, seeing someone make all their characters look different blows my mind.

I like the brain exercise I get from doing math, but I would enjoy getting that brain exercise from something I'll use in real life.  Make me learn how to do taxes!  Budgeting!  Still working with numbers, but I need to do those things because then I don't go into debt or get in trouble for filing my taxes wrong.
