"Aww, no, miss, I insist. My salary's bigger 'an yours, save yourself some coin."

The man selling ice cream, took Nicolae's coin. "Come now, miss, let your boyfriend pay for ya. He's being nice, don't be prideful."

Wendy growled under her breath, free hand clenching into a tight, shaking fist. She forced herself to turn her head away from the idiot trying to pay for her; if she saw his face one more time right now, Wendy was sure she would murder him.

"Not my boyfriend," she finally managed to growl. "I'll take mint. If you'll excuse me..." Wendy let go of Ara's hand and walked off. The restrooms were that way; hopefully it looked like that was where she was going.

Nicolae shrugged. "Well, okay then..."

"Well, now, she's a feisty one," said the ice cream man. "Dunno how you can keep a woman like that. She your wife?"

"Oh! Oh, no, no." Nicolae blushed, looking at his feet. "I'm just a friend of these little ones, I am. She's their caretaker."

"Ah, I see. Well, I certainly don't recommend courting that one."

Caden returned to the room that he had his desk in, his thoughts still on that strange encounter with the Raveness, his wife. The experience was just so incredibly different from what had happened just before the wedding that he was considering that this was a different woman. He shook his head, trying to clear it of such strange thoughts as he tried to focus once more on his work. When he looked over towards his desk, he saw a new letter placed on top, marked clearly as "urgent."

He quickly tore it open, and read through the contents. After he did so, he practically tossed the letters he had just written up onto the desk to be delivered before rushing out the door towards the stable. He didn't bother to wake the stable master, instead saddling his own horse to ride to the King's palace. It seemed that hiring that hunter had been a good choice, so best not to waste any opportunity that he offered the good general. He was willing to ride as long as it took to get to the palace, no matter the hour. Besides, he would be back before anyone noticed that he was gone.

Okay. We'll wait for Vapor to show up and then go for it.

Riva was awoken by a knock at the door. It took her a moment to realize what she was hearing and she rolled over in bed, groaning. "No... It's too early."

"Lady Praetorium, you have a visitor," said a voice muffled by a door.

She grabbed a pillow, putting it over her head. "Go away, just go away..." It was really no wonder she was so tired. She'd stayed up quite late after eating to read the journal. In fact... "What time is it!?"

"It's a half hour to 9 AM, my Lady."

Three hours of sleep. Uuuuuuugh. Well. She could always go back to sleep after the fact. "Who is it?"

"A sir Daku, my Lady. He has your things."

Riva sat up in bed. That was good news. "Right, right, send him in." She didn't care that she was still wearing her chemise; Daku had seen her in less.

"Well here we are." Wendy reached into her pocket and brought out her tiny sack of coins. "Katie wants chocolate. You, Ara?"

@Vapor

"Is there like... mint and chocolate?"

About ten minutes later, Wendy emerged from the restroom. She’d managed to wash the red out of her face, and after plastering another fake smile on her face, she sat down next to Katie and Ara.

"'Ello, Wendy!" He refrained from calling attention to how long she'd been in the bathroom.
