Wendy splashed a bunch of water into her face, tied her hair back into a bun, then tossed her apron onto her bed and grabbed her bag of coins. "Come on, Katie!"

"Coming!" Katie ran into the main bedroom area and collided with Wendy. "Oof! Sorry"

Chuckling, Wendy ruffled Katie's hair. "Alright. Let's go get Ara."

Nico threw a ball up and down. "Oi, miss Bella, any idea when your Wendy'll be pickin' you up?"

Wendy popped her head into the room. "Arabella! We're going! You rea--" Her voice paused at the sight of Nicolae. "You ready yet?"

Nicolae waved. "Uh, hullo, miss."

"I'm here to steal Ara from you."

"Oh." Nico shifted awkwardly, hands behind his back. "Well. I was a-thinkin' I could come with. Miss 'Bella said you'd be gettin' some ice cream, but Lord knows that stuff's expensive. I'm willin' to pitch in if you'll let me. And, o'course, Bella was wantin' me to come, ain't that right?"

"But--" Wendy looked over at Arabella. "I..."

"Aww, no need to thank me. You and I both know castle wages ain't all that much to live on. Just helpin' out what I can, miss." He blushed.

"Can he come, Wendy? Can he can he can he?" Katie grabbed Wendy's hand and bounced on her toes impatiently.

Wendy looked down, swallowed, then said, "sure. I guess he can."

"Yay!"

With a grin, Nico ran over and put Katie on his shoulders. "Good tuh see ya, miss Katie!"

Wendy tried to hide her malice by coughing into her sleeve.

"You alright, miss?" Nico said with a smile.

Ara grinned and grabbed Wendy's hand in her other one.

Unhappy at being chainlinked to Sir Nicolae Kimby, Wendy took in a deep breath, plastered on a smile, then led the girls out of the castle and to the nearby village.

"So!" said Nico. "How long has you and Bella been at the castle, Wendy?"

"Since the lockdown." Which we may or may not have caused.

"Ooo, blimey. That wouldna been a nice night to get here. I's sorry for your's sake."

"That's alright." She didn't bother to mention that her being pulled into servitude was a direct result of the lockdown.
