Eryn leaned against the bar, waiting for an answer, casually scanning the room. Her focus remained on Ett’s people, but one could not have guessed from her demeanor.

She called up to bar again. Unfortunately, the bartender was far too busy to notice the tiny woman. So, innocently, she turned away, passing the table with her mark and the other agents. She paused as she did, a seemingly sudden thought occurring to her. She turned, speaking guilessly. “Do any know from what this is made? It is good flavor - sweet/sour. It will make nice choc.”

"Indeed." He kept her voice low. "It may be best not to try it for the first time in a public space."

Yes, they didn't want a repeat of what had happened in Elendel. Well, most of it had been her freaking out about having accidentality pierced the mind of a centuries-old being, but still.

"I understand, would just saying 'don't kill people' be enough as an order? Do I need to have her stay close?"

KePuur walks over to the pair and sits down next to them, and begins to whisper to "Been awhile, eh, Marie? When was the last time I saw you? Fifty years ago? Sixty?" He then focuses on Adilie. "You're Adilie, I suppose?"

"I am her indeed, I assume you're the kandra sent by Harmony to watch me while I watch Marie?"

She couldn't help to wonder whether he was the kandra she'd accidentality taken over in Elendel, and whether it'd be a good idea to ask

Marie felt Harmony noticing the woman speaking to the side of them, but he didn't share his thoughts. He nodded a greeting to KePuur, then said to Adilie, "You may wish to be more specific than that, I think. To stay close and not harm anyone or sabotage your efforts. She is...more attuned to Ruin than the other Inquisitors I know, still."

Wait, why? I gave Adilie a pathian hearing just so he could speak to her mind

Sorry for the confusion, I thought that was clearer. I didn't realize she had the earring; I'll retcon that.

Problem is I already responded to what Harmony said.

No, he was just on babysitting duty once.

Or we can keep it, and Saze just switches to talking the other way so he can’t be overheard further.

I add other plot holes since Adilie would have signalled him, but we can say that

Also, sorry Ene I tried to signal you should have known it in a polite way (and without hurting you) but I'm pretty sure I failed

"I understand" Adilie answered.

She then realized something fairly obvious

Why are we speaking aloud? You can read my mind.

Nah, this is on me, I should have thought about that.

I had assumed this method of communication would be harder for you to deal with, or more frightening, Harmony answered, switching easily.

Eryn sighed. It was obvious the people were still communicating, but she could no longer hear the words. “Are all here so rude?” she asked, allowing her irritation to show. “No one answers questions.”

One arm on the counter, Marie sighed. "Sure, kid," she said to the man standing next to her. He was old for a mortal, and clearly someone who fancied himself knowledgeable about the world. It was likely that he knew more about the situation here than she - Marie had spent the last few months underground. "But I really don't care if someone tries to follow me when I leave here, or whatever you're trying to warn me off from."

@mathiau

Kid? Really? He looked sixty for goodness sake. "Judging from the metal stores in your stomach, I'd be more worried about the person following you." He looks at the other two, three hundred years? No wonder she called him kid. "On a different note, saying someone is three-hundred years old isn't the smartest thing."

It does feel a little weird, but honestly not that much than speaking to someone with nails instead of eyes.

Of course the fact that she still had said someone with nails instead of eyes before her was unnerving on it's own, but it was something she'd have to learn to deal with if she wanted to continue this mission

I assume she's in control of herself again?

Didn't we move away from where Ashriel was? Also everyone should know someone with to big spikes in the eyes is either Ironeyes or an inquisitor, both are over 300 :)

Ladashwy warily walked into The Iron Wheel and sat down. She was exhausted. The masked assassin had tried to kill her 16 times in the last week, and each time he had tried to stab her with a silvery metal spike. The assassin wouldn't try to attack her in a crowded tavern, would he? She decided to start storing speed in her steel mind.

Spoiler

Oops, quick retcon, he's at a nearby table because she has what look like metal stores, so he's keeping watch of her, he leaned back in his chair.

A small metal ball rolls slowly toward Marie's chair leg, it rolls very fast and knocks it down.

Not yet, I am waiting for a safer moment with less of an audience.

...how is a small metal ball knocking down a chair that presumably is made of sturdy wood and has someone sitting in it?
