+ZincAboutIt she/her Posted December 28, 2020 Posted December 28, 2020 Alleine raised an eyebrow at the barkeep’s abrupt change in demeanor. The koloss-blooded boy slunk away into the back of the tavern as the bartender smiled at her. Charming, she thought. ”Gin, please, if you have it,” she said, sliding up to the bar and tapping one fingernail on the wood. “Whiskey if you don’t.” She returned the man’s smile, using a pinch of Zinc and stoking his bias towards her - just a bit. Most people didn’t understand emotional allomancy, generally just assuming that Soothers and Rioters slammed emotions into one’s mind like cudgels. That was nonsense. As with many things, less was usually more. Alleine had found that oftentimes, a bit of lace on the bodice and the right rouge got a girl at least as far as Zinc, and no amount of aluminum lining in one’s hat could block it. ”I’m passing through to visit my cousin,” she said, looking around and feigning a slight overwhelm. “I didn’t expect such a crowd. Not many drinkers for Gin round here, they consider it a ladies' drink. Perfect for a pretty little thing like you though, I'd say." He smiled to himself, but his words had a joking tone to it, his minor flirt lacking any real interest. He had more important things to worry about then pretty women, especially if they were only just passing through. Turning back to her, he slid the drink across the counter, nodding to her. He didn't notice the slight shift in his emotions, he hardly knew anything about Allomancy, or any of that other fancy jumbo. It didn't concern him much, didn't come knocking on his door, so why should he care? "Oh? I'd be careful on your way, Miss. Lookin' at you, I assume you're new to the Roughs, eh? I'd be careful if I were you." Putting away the Gin, he continued to talk. "I've heard some things- People talk of coalitions back in the Basin, that they're gunnin' for some mine all the ways out here. Don't know why aluminum is so popular, something about those metallic arts, or whatever. I don't get the appeal myself, it's just harder to get metal." It wouldn't take much to deduce the man had no idea what he was talking about, at least concerning the uses of aluminum. "Let's see... Somethin' about..." The man clicked his tongue, looking at her. "Hm, I coulda sworn I remembered somethin' about them mines... Odd." His pause was hesitant. The girl didn't look entirely like a basin dandy, but those clothes were still too clean, too proper, and her appearance embraced femininity, not the reverse. He didn't expect her to catch the common, even cliched message in his words. Still, it would be better to at least give her a chance, something like a test of sorts. Lecky Twig she/her Posted December 28, 2020 Posted December 28, 2020 Drae flipped his hood down as he walked into the tavern, this was where it was whispered that work would be waiting; work that involved aluminium would be familiar to him and scars, was he desperate for work. He stopped in the doorway for a moment and hushed the urge to sooth the hidden tension out of the room. Drae took a deep breath a stode foward. These ruffians wont bother me, they dont got no reason to, he thought in reassureance to himself. He was dressed like he had enough money for a drink or two, but in reality he was dirt poor from the mess-up in Elendel. So he casually slipped a drink from a nearby women's hand, giving her a knowing smirk and a subtle emotional push to stop the lady from fussing. Then Drae walked over to an empty table and slumped down in a nearby chair "mmm" he muttered to himself in approval "gin." @Ookla the Stick
Guest Somebody from Scadrial Posted December 28, 2020 Posted December 28, 2020 Ash went into the Tavern, what a stupid name. He was supposed to meet Brunt here. He saw more people than when he had stopped in all those years ago, but it was in its early days then. I guess a little growth is to be expected. He looked around for a Koloss-blood, but he only saw a smaller one, definitely not his old friend. Now he was nowhere near small, largest man Ash had ever seen.

Alleine cocked her head, considering pulling on his sense of good will a bit more, perhaps his desire to talk - but no. No, in situations like these, it was best not to risk her hand too early. "It can be difficult," she said, slipping a few coins out of her pocket and sliding them across the bar towards the man, "to remember things, especially considering how busy you are." It was enough for the drink, and a bit more besides. Alleine gave him a pointed look. "But if anything comes to mind, I'd love to know." Just then, another man passed by the bar, casually whisking her newly-poured glass of gin off the counter and seating himself at a nearby table. Her mouth was halfway open to protest when she figured that it was better to avoid making a fuss. No need to get all riled up, especially about something as silly as a -- Wait. Alleine narrowed her eyes, examining the man. He was Soothing her, and doing a damn fine job of it too. If she wasn't a Rioter, she probably wouldn't have noticed anything at all. It was only her years of experience with emotion - her own and others' - that gave her enough context to know where to look. She fished another two coins out of her pocket and set them down. "Another glass, if you please," she said, smiling. "I didn't think my friend would show up so early. If you could bring it to our table, I'd be much obliged." Then, she turned and walked towards the Soother, settling herself down across from him and leaning back in her chair. He looked well-dressed, but there was a tightness in his eyes that hinted at lean times. Besides, there were only two reasons to steal a lady's drink. You either wanted to flirt with her, or you were too wrung out to buy your own. He didn't seem brazen enough for the former. "I do hope you're enjoying that drink," she said, "considering how decent it was of me to buy it for you." @Lecky Twig

As she moved past the candle Eryn caught a faint flash, as though something were reflecting the light beneath the hood. Nothing anyone here would notice, but she recognized it. She had seen it before, the way the light caught the Sovereign’s steel eye. This, then, was Ett’s agent. The one she was to watch. The Southerner smiled again at Aaron. “Perhaps the owner knows. I will ask.” She rose quickly, before he could object. He was far too protective. True, she was a chocolatier, but she was also a Hunter. Eryn had been trained to fight, even before. And now, she was so much more.

He ordered a simple drink, he could get younger for a bit to deal with the hangover, but he preferred not to waste it like that. And he was getting too old to just walk around as if he was fine when he had one.
