Your fairy is fine, Isabelle, since that's been the classic idea of a fairy for a long time, if not the oldest version of a fae.

And indeed, the headline she saw on the screen says "WORLD ON FIRE- CITIES ALL OVER THE WORLD AFLAME!" Quote I've had an idea- where the beings show up is society-based. For example, even though Djinns are middle eastern, they've shown up in Western media, and thus a couple of Djinn are placed down in Europe and the Americas despite not originating there. On the other hand, a Dokkaebi (aka a korean goblin) would not show up in those places because I doubt any of us has heard of one of those before this. Also, feel free to add some events, big or small to the scenario. I've had a couple of ideas, including some chinese dragons overthrowing the Chinese government (I doubt they're happy that the mandate of heaven was broken...) some Finnish man finding the Sampo and getting super rich, and obviously Dragons wreaking havoc on the world before they can be stopped.
