NameIess Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 So, when Rock says that he is leaving, he says that he and Kaladin "will not see each other in this realm" and that if they meet again, it will be in the realm of gods. I took this to mean that Rock gets sent off to either go to other worlds, or to do some job in Shadesmar. What do you guys think?
Eris she/her Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 I'm fairly sure Rock did something perceived by his culture as severely wrong (I don't remember exactly but his place in his family said he was meant to be a cook and he fought which goes against that or something i don't remember too much). To me it sounded like he was going to be impriosoned or executed and he would come back to meet Kaladin when Kaladin eventually hits the dust (sadly), because Kaladin had probably in Rocks eyes reached Godhood or something like that.

Slight problem: Brandon has said he plans to write a Rock novella telling what happens to him. This indicates ‘what happened’ is going to be a bit more than a trial and execution. 1

But it still starts with a trial and execution. What happens if you execute somebody in a perpendicularity? We saw something similar.

It's probably easier to shove them through the perpendicularity than to execute them yourself.

Normal, corporal people need to eat and drink on the other side and that is a logistical problem. Is the community on the other side fully alive? And I mean that literally. It seems implausible to me that a community could live besides a perpendicularity for thousands of years and not find out how to make Cognitive Shadows.

Awakened Cremling he/him Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 My prediction is that Rock thinks what he did is grounds for punishment but that others will see a budding radiant and try to make him their leader/king. I think Rock will push for punishment/death but by the end of his novella he will be "forced" into assuming leadership of the peaks. 1
Toaster Retribution he/him Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 I'm pretty sure Rock thought he would be executed and meant that he will see Kaladin in the afterlife. I doubt that he will be executed though, but I really don't see what use the Horneaters (or the story, for that matter) would have of Rock worldhopping right now. I think he will end up being the leader of the Horneaters and bring them into the Alliance.

And if he has, he defenitely isn't worldhopping, unless the Horneaters has cracked the secret behind how to get KRs out of the Rosharan system.

I interpreted this as seeing each other again in the Spiritual Realm, i.e. after they both die. I don't think there's any Worldhopping implications to it, but I might be wrong.

I don't think there's any Worldhopping implications to it, but I might be wrong. I mean, the way that they all talk about it just seems off to me. Like, even after the team that escorted Rock to the peaks gets back and give Kaladin their report, Kaladin thinks "I won't see Rock anymore" rather than "they chucked him off a cliff into lava or whatever horneaters do for executions".
