He taps. The platform lowers. The key insight here is that the device will generate energy out of nothing even if the efficiency of tapping is zero, as just stopping storing weight would result in movement. Free energy. Only thing is, investiture is used to transfer the attibute. So something is entering the system.

I think we're kind of all saying the thing here: the system Fering+metalmind is not closed, which allow F-iron or F-steel users to take energy from Ruin and Preservation and turn it into "intentless" kinetic and potential energy
Some Random Spren he/him Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 interesting theory, especially the bit where you link each metal to a shard. do you think silver could be linked to adonalsium if each metal is linked to something and silver has effects?

Quite possible.
cometaryorbit Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 I personally doubt the parallel with the Allomantic table is as close as one-to-one Shard-to-metal correspondences. It might be as loose a parallel as "sixteen grouped into four quadrants of four", or perhaps a bit closer - the four Dawnshards might correlate vaguely to Physical/Mental/Temporal/Spiritual ("Change" Dawnshard = Temporal? Dawnshard of binding = Spiritual? Maybe something like Think/Know/Imagine/Envision for Mental and something like Be/Exist for Physical)? 1
