For a while, the Windrunner Honorblade was in possession of Kaladin and the WIndrunners, and the Skybreaker Honorblade is in Nale's hands, who we know is a Radiant in his own right and doesn't need the Honorblade to wield Skybreaker powers.

Do we have any WOBs on the subject of whether getting the same Radiant power from two different sources "stacks" or not?  Does Nale having the blade and also being a Skybreaker make him more powerful than a Herald or Skybreaker individually?

The answer is, "kind of". The ability to be powerful in the Surges is more limited by your supply of Stormlight than any innate "potency" in the Surges. What you'd want is a greater fuel efficiency, so to speak. The Honorblades aren't great in that regard, especially compared to a 5th Oath radiant, who is really the only person that would need to have another way to improve their Surgebinding.

in other words, it's not like Allomancy where there's a limit to how fast you can burn metal for an effect.

@Halyo_Alex All right, do you have a citation for that?

Yep, here you go.

Questioner (paraphrased)

If a non-Windrunner picked up Jezrien's Honorblade would they gain Windrunner powers as well?

Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)

Yes.

Questioner (paraphrased)

If a Windrunner picked up that blade, would their abilities be enhanced?

Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)

There would be some compounding but strength is not as much an issue with Surgebinding as is the strength of the spren bond and how much Stormlight you are using.

Does a Herald using an Honorblade consume the same "dangerous" amounts of Stormlight?

Brandon Sanderson

Honorblades are less efficient; this doesn't change when a Herald uses them. (But they have other advantages.)

uchoo786

Are Honorblades closer in power to Nightblood than they are to Shardblades made from Spren?

Brandon Sanderson

Hard to say. They're all similar, but at the same time, very different. And in a way, Nightblood is what you might call a "Third Generation" blade.

uchoo786

Ah gotcha. And in this analogy, Honorblades would be 1st gen and Sprenblades would be 2nd gen?

Brandon Sanderson

Yes.

From what I remember, it doesn't make you stronger, it makes you need less stormlight.

Honorblades need the most after that is squires (this can be reversed don't remember which is which) after that is 1-4th oath Radiant and after that is 5th oath Radiant
