"You can travel back and forth between the playing field and the Overview multiple times per game, although there will be limits. Elimination does not result in disqualification from the Aeon Games, if that is what you are asking."

"Good to know. Is there any chance I can get a written copy of the rules?"

The voice paused, as if in thought. Apparently, the question was uncommon enough to lack a ready-made response.

"A paper copy can be commissioned in the Store," said the voice at last. "But I will always be available, should you have any questions."

"Good to know. I'll be sure to do both. Are we nearly there yet?"

There was a distinctive shwoop sound as reality shifted behind them.

"You have arrived!" announced the voice.

"Wonderful. Are we going to do something soon, or can I go find the Shop?"

Through the portal is a large hall, extending further than you can see. The side nearest to you appears to be some sort of welcoming area, with a reception desk and a bulletin board on the wall.

Every few yards or so on the hall is a square. Within each square stands a team, their banner hanging next to them and painted on the wall behind them. The teams seem to be made of a variety of different people. A couple teams seem to have only one person on them. One, somewhat inexplicably, is an actual house.

Your team's banner is painted at the square furthest down the hall. Presumably, this is where you need to stand to begin the match.

Harmony follows her, trying to take in everything.

I'm assuming all the other teams' emotional states are some mixture of excitement, anticipation, and determination

Well, these people have been doing this for an eternity, so the novelty has worn off for some of them. :P

Harmony nudges Trylle. "Um... I think we're at a disadvantage here. All these teams seem... old somehow. Like they've been doing the same thing for so long that their souls have grooves where they keep hitting the same obstacles. If I had to guess, everyone here has been doing this tournament thing for years."

She doesn't quite get the scope of it, but she's got an idea

"Do not worry!" chirped the stone unprompted. "Each game provides a unique new experience that has never been seen before! Or at the very least, no one will remember it. Do not worry, you still have a chance to win!"

"Good to... know?"

Harmony starts humming a song to calm her own nerves.

If anyone else is nervous, she'll see and she can help out in the same way

"Looks like it. Although the other information is handy. We'll be fine, I just need to plan." She stood on their square stoically.

Geff walked to the end of the line and as he went he studied the various teams. They were all different, but they all seemed to know what they were doing. He quietly wondered what they heck was going on.
