Try my ideas from CC. There's a lot of magic systems there. Also, a team of people, who can make anything they draw come to life. And a team that's essentially just a bunch of ordinary people, who just got on an incredible win-streak.

Environmental challenges... Verdin could likely handle that. Then again, the other members of the team could probably also handle it far better...

SCA Legion: An army of identical high-tech warrior androids led by a rather enthusiastic leader.

Dz'zxstr'hlt: Insectile aliens with a collective consciousness.

Aeroraiders: Sky pirates (in a steampunk airship)

Draconic Brigade: Dragon Riding Knights. Would be more impressive if they weren't the size of a large dog and a can of tomato soup, respectively.

Mystico: An entire team of stereotypical ancient, wise, and enigmatic mages.

Joe: He doesn't have a team name; he's a solo player, and he never bothered to pick one out. He's obsessed with collecting and using magical artifacts, and probably has the largest personal collection.

Order of the Leaf: A rather meditative group of nature-communers. They don't often win, but you still don't want to mess with them.

The gemstone grants access to the Overview, a location you can retreat to for gathering information and avoiding combat. Be warned, visits there do have a minimum time limit- and you cannot take other game related actions while there."
