"She has to be found soon, and I have to be awake just in case the Amals attack again."

"We need to find a phoenix Amal, the one who was in the marketplace earlier."

Having almost reached the inn, Kimora turned back around exasperatedly. "Fine. But don't blame me when you fall asleep at an even more inconvenient time than right now."

"I don't sleep unless I let myself," said Chorale, a cold expression on her face. Just then, bells started ringing and Chorale looked in the direction they were coming from. "That's the alarm bells. The Amal must be attacking! Come on!" Then Chorale set off at a dead run toward the wall.

When she reached the wall, a tiger Amal with orange and black striped skin, claws, and bronze eyes was holding a soldier with a gash across his face in a tight grip and saying, "Where is your leader?" A lion Amal was pouncing on another soldier and a wildebeest was chasing a third.

The tiger Amal grinned, showing sharp teeth, and threw down the soldier. "Who are you to talk about my well being when you should be worried about yours?"

Chorale tossed aside her hat, revealing her eyes, and crunched down on a crystal. "Why would I be worried about my well being?" Her eyes began to glow, and she enclosed the tiger Amal in a force field, trapping him. "Thanks for putting that soldier down!"

Aerith cracks his knuckles, then taps his pre-swallowed crystal and casts a fireball at the Amal.

The tiger growled. "Who are you?"

At this point the tiger might put it all together.

"I'm your worst nightmare, but you can call me Chorale. Aerith, I've got this one, and probably one more besides. Go take care of that lion Amal."

Aerith tips his helmet-hat. "Yes, ma'am." He spins around and kicks some fire at the lion.

Nobody's playing the lion, right?

Currently I am, but it would be nice if someone could take one of the 3 Amals

I'll take care of the lion, I guess.

The lion sprang out of the way of Aerith's fire. Aerith, in return, cast a wide arcing flame at the amal.

Hey, the tiger's not going to do anything?

By the way, if the energy takes enough damage, it will collapse or she'll have to reinforce it. Both will tax her.

Chorale smiled and turned toward the wildebeest, casting another force field around it.

Hey, by the way, Amals(depending on their fighting style) can transform back and forth while fighting, so they could look entirely human or entirely animal, or they can look somewhere in between.

Chorale faltered a little bit, but stood up straight and crunched down on another crystal. The force fields grew more opaque, so that you could barely see the Amals inside.

Krait hears the sounds of fighting and hurries forward, eager to finally catch her prey. She transforms as she draws near, and tastes the air to find out where they were. Two were trapped in fields of energy, and one had fire being thrown at it. Get ready. It isss almossst time. The voice in her head says. If we don't catch them now, they will be out of our grasssp.

Krait slithers forward, almost invisible in the darkness, and gets ready to strike.

A rich throaty chuckle sounded behind her.

"As much as I disagree with Concerto, I have to hand it to hand it to him. He knows his sister."

A leopard dropped from a tree.

"Sibling intuition I suppose, probably helpful when your sibling is more or less evil."

Okay, there's a tree on top of the wall. Maybe from a tower?

By now it's taxing her, but she won't show it.

Chorale's face lost its surprised expression, becoming an emotionless mask once again. "And who are you?" She raised a hand and trapped the leopard in yet another bubble.
