"Somewhere else." Chorale isn't going to give this strange man any clues about how to hurt her, no matter how friendly.

Kuno chuckles to himself.

"Well, I suppose that it's an answer. Thank you for your time Chorale. I passed a guardsman beck about 50 feet behind me. Although he was walking rather fast, so you might want to hurry up."

"Thank you." Chorale pushes past the man and woman and jogs along the wall.

Kuno shakes his head and smiles to himself while the woman watches Chorale suspiciously before returning to her previous spot a little ways behind the man.

"It's a new town my dear," Kuno says to the woman, "who knows what's in store for us."

I mean, I wanted to leave it open just in case anyone else wanted to be the guard, but if no one does, I'll just do it myself, like the innkeeper, the woman at the door, the fat leader of the settlement...

I guess I'm just used to playing games like Dungeons and Dragons, or the Table-top rpg for Mistborn where there's one person who takes care of roleplaying all of the Non-player characters.

Usually that's what happens, the leader role plays all of the NPCs, but occasionally I like to encourage people to participate more.

The guard turned. "Sorry, but I'm a little busy. Could you ask someone else? The other guards should be in the barracks, over there." the guard points to a large building at the bottom of the wall.

"Of course." Without revealing her eye color, Chorale turns and runs down the stairs.

The door to the barracks is open and talking is coming from inside. Just inside of door, there's a large man standing there who is quite obviously not a guardsman, or he's not in his uniform.

Chorale pushes past the man, then addresses the general area. "I need to talk to some guards who have seen the Amal attack." She doesn't tilt her head up, she saves that just in case she needs to persuade them.

The man is obviously annoyed at this, and grabs Chorale's shoulder.

"I believe that I was here first sister, and didn't your mother teach ya that it's rude to interrupt."

The man speaks with a heavy accent.

Chorale twists away. "Sorry," she says in an obviously fakely sorry voice. "Official business."

"What makes you more important than mine sister?"

The man stares down Chorale with his orange eyes before trying to brush her aside.

Okay, so Chorale constantly has her head down but is scanning everywhere, and it's really cool for me to imagine her moving and getting ready to fight while having to keep her eyes hidden by her hat. It looks really mysterious and such.

Chorale brings her hand out of her pouch, where it had gone instinctively, and crunches down on something. "I'm trying to help, with sanction from the leader of this settlement. What makes yours more important than mine?"

Val shivers, it's getting darker and her shirt is ripped, and there is no way for her to leave until the man lets her go.

The man sneers at the mention of the leader of the settlement leader. Obviously displeased.

"That makes yours better in their eyes, but not mine, I'm in a hurry, so make it fast."

Chorale turns away. "Well?" A couple of guards raise their hands, and Chorale nods. "What did it look like? Could you tell?"

The man watches, trying to feign disdain, but he seems to be interested despite his apparent best effort.

"By my reckoning," says a handsome man, his chin covered in stubble, "It was an Amal. It stood on two legs, but it had a tail, two ears, and a mane of hair."

Another guard objects. "No, it was an Amal with a tail and stripes all over its body!"

A third one says, "I saw an Amal with horns, a tail, and a large nose."

The three men start arguing, and Chorale steps in. "It's obvious that there were three Amal: a tiger Amal, a lion Amal, and some kind of wildebeest or something. Did anyone else see anything?" She looked around the room, then when it was obvious that no one else was going to say anything, nodded and pushed past the man with orange eyes again.

The man gives Chorale a short glare as she passed, and then continued to talk with the guards, talking far more casually than Chorale.
