"I want to learn what all the fuss is about these 's'mores'" said Gerald.

"I suppose you'll just have to find out, then!" Ellis cracked open some marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate. He stuck on marshmallow at the end of his stick, hanging it over the fire. "Step one: roast a 'mallow."

Gerald reached into his arm and pulled out a long, dangerous-looking spike. He took a marshmallow, carefully placed it on the spike, and held it over the fire. "Like this?"

"Yeah, I'd... prefer if you just used a normal stick, but I guess that works."

"Don't worry, I'm pretty sure this is a railroad spike," replied Gerald. "It's not the murdery kind."

"O...kay." Ellis cleared his throat. "So, preferably, you're going to want to cook that until it's all golden-brown. Unfortunately, it rarely turns out that way, but hey, marshmallows are marshmallows, am I right?"

"Tautologies are true," agreed Gerald. "It's... not supposed to be burning, is it?"

Ellis shrugged. "I mean, I'd put it out until it melts off your... ah, spike, but there's nothing wrong with a burnt marshmallow."

Gerald carefully dunked the marshmallow in the bucket of saltwater from his arm. "Like so?"

"Uhhh... no." Ellis handed him a new marshmallow. "Wet marshmallows are no bueno. Just blow it out. Like this." He lit his marshmallow on fire, then blew it out.

"How many it takes to give me a hankering for some s'mores instead." He finished his fourth. "Apparently it takes four. I'm hungry for dessert. Anyone else?"

"Me me me!!!" Melody reached over and grabbed some marshmallows, stuffing one in her mouth while she speared three others on her stick.

"I'd... do my best to not light it on fire."

Gerald blew his out. "Didn't you say that wasn't a problem?" he asked puzzledly.

"...oh," said Gerald, gazing at his charred marshmallow. "Whoops."

He tried another, careful not to stick it in the flames this time.

Melody held out her perfectly golden-brown marshmallows. "I'm an expert on roasting marshmallows!"

Gerald looked at the marshmallows somewhat enviously.

"Would you like one? I can always make more." Melody held one of the marshmallows toward Gerald.

"Now take some chocolate and some graham crackers, and put them all together like this!" Melody demonstrated. "It's delicious!" She took a huge bite and grinned at Gerald; lips covered in sticky marshmallow, melted chocolate, and graham cracker crumbs.

Ellis snorted, then quickly hid his derision by turning away and assembling his own s'more."

Ellis took a bite of his s'more. "One out of two isn't bad, I guess."

"Just because you can't convert me to your hot-dogism doesn't mean you can be a tad bit salty about it," she said, popping a marshmallow in her mouth.

"What're you snorting about?" Melody asked, finishing her s'more. She turned and reached for some Starbursts.
