She was looking up with her eyes closed as the rain soaked her hair and clothes. A sad smile played on her lips, and her blade glowing in response to her emotions. For once, Q looked like she was at peace in the rain, even if she was wearing a sad smile. She looked like she belonged. Noticing Ellis running towards her, she let out a breath and turned towards him, the smile lingering for a second before fading away. "Are you ready?" she asked.

Q let out a breath and brought her blade up to her face, just like what she had done earlier with her exercises. She closed her eyes then hummed a tune that wasn't recognizable, as if she was trying to be in tune with the falling rain. Strange, even for her, to be humming a tune. She stood there for a moment, letting the rain fall on her, before she opened her eyes and started. Her movements were like the stream; small, yet flowing with movement. In tune with the storm, she moved slowly for Ellis to follow while keeping at her own pace. She let the movements flow off of her like the rain on her. When she flicked her blade, a spray of water flew off in the direction of the trees. It was graceful, like the waves of the sea, pulling in and pushing out. It was like watching the dancer perform their most beloved piece, except that their emotions were showing through a pulse of a blade's light. It was like watching an artist at work, and they seemed to be putting all of their emotions and character into this one piece, as if no one else would ever see it again. Acrobatic moves entered into her practice when the rain fell harder. A few flips here and a barrel roll there, but she still kept it at a pace where Ellis could keep up, even though she guessed that he couldn't keep up with what she was doing. Water sprayed whenever she moved, her hair whipping full of it. The lightning didn't make the scene terrifying, but something of awe. Every now and then, you could see Q suspended in the air or jabbing her glowing blade where she had once been. It didn't look like she was a stranger, but rather she was a living part of the storm. She could execute the storm's will, and it would seem to be a part of her character. Even if she didn't execute it's will, it would still be a part of her character. She was like the rain, yes, but she had the surprise of the lightning. Her thrusts and parries sometimes came out of nowhere, but that's what gave the practice life. With those little surprise moves she threw in there, the whole practice became something of her own rather than a simple blade practice. She gave this particular practice life when others told her to only practice and never think about what emotions she put in, but no matter what her mentor had said she would always put some emotion in her practice. It was probably the only thing she was good at, and she wanted to express that when she could and––of course––when she was comfortable to show it. It was what made her... well, her. Nothing that anyone could say can change her mind that she was a bladesmaster, an artist in a way, a murderer, a monster... She kept up with her practice, letting those thoughts overtake her. Those attributes are what made her who she is, but she often didn't want to accept it. She could never tell anyone how she slaughtered people because she didn't know who she was. A murderer and monster was what she was, even though sometimes she didn't like to accept the fact. They can't know who she really was, why she was here, or even what her real name was. They lived just fine without knowing her name, they can continue to live without so. It would only bring them in danger. She wouldn't allow that to happen, not after what they have done to her. There are still times where she's wondered why they've let her stay and those times were growing more frequent with every passing second. How can someone love her after what's she done? Catching that she was going a bit faster, Q slowed down a bit so Ellis could keep up. Does he care though? the sadistic part of her mused. He probably just wants to see you fall. After all, he's the 'Dark Lord.' Saying nothing about her thoughts, she continued her practice, looking at Ellis to see how he was holding up. 1

After all, he's the 'Dark Lord.' Saying nothing about her thoughts, she continued her practice, looking at Ellis to see how he was holding up. How am I supposed to compete with that? Do my best? Aight. I can work with that. She was better than him Ellis didn't think that was ever in question. Q was graceful, experienced, skilled... Ellis had once heard that a sword should be an extension of one's soul. She didn't wield it like that: from what he saw, her sword was her soul. Besides... he probably wasn't ever really that good anyways. Her tune was unfamiliar. Ellis followed it with about as much proficiency as he did her swordplay. It was wielded like her sword: as beautiful as the blade's dance, and as infallible as the storm. Together, she, the song, and her blade were beautiful... how was it that he hadn't fallen for her even sooner than he had? Something deep inside told him that it would never work... they would never work. He followed her movements, closing his eyes. His own blade whipped about in the storm, but it wasn't like hers. She deserved someone who wielded their art as if it was who they were, not someone who merely tried in an attempt to... what? Impress her? There wasn't anything he could do with the sword to impress her. He opened his eyes. Ellis had fallen out of sync. Of course he had. It was because he wasn't right. Or... maybe it was something else, deep inside. A darkness. "Q..." he said, trying to return into sync with her. "Do you think that... something like you and me... do you think it'd be possible?" 1

Writing is not a competition; rather, it's expressing who you are through a certain character. In my case, I just got carried away in the song I was listening to, lol. Q continued to slow down, making sure that he was catching up. Even though she was at a slower pace, the grace was still there, perhaps lingering now that she was taking it slower. Her blade glowed with a soft light, washing their faces with its light blue light. Her expression held so many emotions, yet it told no story. Her eyes seemed to be considering what he had just said, but her expression held its concentration on her swordplay. "I don't know, Ellis," she admitted softly. "I know that I need to move on from my past, but..." She didn't finish her sentence. Her eyes showed something horrible past better left forgotten; however, they also showed something that you wouldn't expect from her: a lingering of hope. It wasn't as easy as flipping a switch, and she knew that. It would probably be a long time before she was able to recover from her past, if she were trying to do it alone; but if she were trying to share the burden with someone else... maybe... That hope in her eyes was instantly smothered by memories. Memories of blood, pain, and isolation filled her eyes. No. She couldn't live through that again. She barely made it through the first time... well, she didn't even know if she even made it through the pain with her past always trying to remind her who... what she really was and how the others wouldn't accept her after what she's done. Sometimes it was better to forget what happened in the past, but Q knew that if she didn't have these memories, she wouldn't know how to protect herself from situations like this. She didn't care if it was different, she knew that it would all end the same with her in more pain than before and wanting to end her life. Now, why didn't you did that before so you could be rid of that pain? the sadistic part of her said. Why didn't you pull that trigger? Hope. She had hope that it would be better, but with how things were turning out, that option was becoming more and more feasible. Yet, she still held on to that small thread of hope, and she didn't know why anymore. Maybe it would've been better to have just end her life, but she still held on. Hope will only get her so far before she caved in. It was only a matter of time. "I'm not denying that it's not possible," she said, finally. "But I... I–I don't know."

It was as if someone had taken her ability to speak, only this time she had allowed them to do so. Some of the stories could be told in a few simple words, but those words were the hardest to say. She squeezed her eyes shut. She whispered something in a different language, a language more flowy perhaps, before she caught on. It took her a second of mumbling gibberish and incoherent words before she whispered, "I ca-can't."
