The knight stopped crying. "I'm okay." Then he stood up, his hair blowing in the wind. "What seems to be the issue here?"

Melody stepped back. "Well, we stepped through a portal made by a man in a green suit, and it took us here. I think we're supposed to rescue these people?"

Melody took the sword, somewhat confused. "Thank you," she says. "What am I supposed to do with this?"

"Well, every sword is different," said Gerald, "but usually they're used to stab people. Even the magic ones are usually no more than fancy sharp sticks."

"Nothing, inherently. But a stick doesn't do much to do the impossible." He thought for a moment. "Neither does a sharp stick, for that matter, if you don't know how to use it. Do you you know how to use a sword?" he queried Melody.

"I know how to use a rapier, but not this. And I don't think I'm interested in killing anyone or cracking nuts."
