“If you’re not a worldhopper why do you have multiple houses here?”

“.........oh no”

“Unless you happen to be some sort of demon-hunter, yes, that sounds like a good idea. Lead the way!”

Chris beckons Radriarc to follow him as he begins running. "It's always a good idea to have a few safehouses scattered here and there! We're pretty close to one of them, actually."

Hey, I'm back for a little bit. Pretend this was on time. :P

Noche scrambled back as the man... dissolved into many small crabs(that's how hordelings look, right?). Luz bore a shocked expression when she glanced at him, clearly he wasn't going to be much help. As the man reformed, Noche looked closer at one of the crabs. She could barely tell once he had 'put himself back together'. Alba flew back to Noche's shoulder, obviously it had unnerved her too.

I picture them as like palm size tan colored beetles, but yeah. I think they are crabs and bugs and things like that. It's hard to know because all of those things are just called cremlings...

Chris arrives at a small indent in a wall of an abandoned building. "Here we are!"

@Danex

Radriarc slowed to a stop beside Chris. He looked back to see if the monster was still following, but Frustration hadn’t posted so he couldn’t tell and didn’t see it anymore.
“Where is ‘here’ exactly?”

Chris held up a small card-like object to the wall, inserting it in a space between two bricks. A couple seconds later, the bricks moved apart and revealed a secret passageway.

"Here is here. Welcome to Safehouse 12."

Radriarc jumped as the wall suddenly moved aside.
“....wow”
He followed Chris into the new passageway.

So who is Chris exactly? Is he actually Scadrian or is he from the Iconar Collective too? What magic does he have?

He followed Chris into the new passageway.

Crhis led Radriarc down the stairs, and the passage closed behind them. Lining the walls were electric lights and wiring, all leading downwards.

Chris is... undeveloped. He's a regular Scadrian who's both Cosmere and Macrosmos aware. Fadran bumped into him at some point, and they're in loose contact with one another.

How does anyone have any undeveloped characters? I know exactly what all of my characters look and act like, and I only occasionally change their Investiture for the RP.

Well, that was obvious. You said Chris was undeveloped. I'm sorry, I'm just overeager and really like developing characters.

I find it to be a lot of fun to develop a character as you go along.

Like how they look? How they act? I find these things are pretty essential when you start. I like to see how they develop throughout the story, that's not the kind of development I'm talking about.

Sorry, I think I'm argumentative today. I'll stop.

I prefer to make a new character for every RP, trying to shoehorn a pre-existing character into a new RP never seems to work, at least for me. I build the character around the world and plot, I feel like doing a character I already have would end up with me trying to shape the world and plot around the character.
Even my main guy here, Radriarc, I don’t have his backstory super set in stone, and I haven’t revealed anything so far, so I can change it as the plot goes on.

Radriarc gasped. “Electric lights? I thought only the upper class had these on Scadrial. I’ve been meaning to take a closer look at some while I’m here.” He noticed that they were still traveling downwards. “How deep is this safehouse??”

That's how I start my characters, but I let things like backstory and important character traits become fleshed out by the way they act.

"Pretty deep. It is a safe house. And you can get electric lights for pretty cheap if you know where to find them."

Working backwards is entertaining. You should try it sometime!

I have a very rough outline for his backstory, but the details and even some major points on the outline change all the time. Sure, I base his core mannerisms and personality off the core parts of the backstory, but a lot of it I base off the other characters. I try to foil and compliment them all, make sure Radriarc fits with the group, clashes where he should clash and doesn’t where he shouldn’t. Same thing with power-set actually. I haven’t revealed his abilities either, so I keep going back and forth, trying to decide what version would fit best with the setting, party, and general power level of the group as a whole. Consistency is obviously important too, so I’m slowly hardening more and more of him as we go on.

“Interesting.” He paused, suddenly very aware that he was descending into a very deep, very hidden, underground bunker with someone he had just met.
If I disappeared, nobody would know, he thought with a gulp.
“So...uh...Chris, tell me more about yourself. Who’s that friend you mentioned earlier?”

"The friend's just a random ex-soldier ex-merchant I met. He's... kind of like a worldhopper, but not exactly. Have you heard of the Macrosmos?"

“I’ve heard the theories. I never put much stock into them myself, but I actually just met someone from outside the cosmere! Can you believe it?!? I heavily doubt anyone could travel the Macrosmos intentionally though, the girl I met, Meira, seemed to be pulled here by a freak accident. If anyone knew how to travel the Macrosmos, well, that would be completely insane.”

Am I setting you up a little too much?

probably.

Am I gonna do it anyway?

well you’re reading this aren’t you?

Maybe a little bit.

"Oh, I know plenty of people who travel the Macrosmos all the time! That one guy specifically. He's thrown together a group, recently, and he sent me this." He pulled a letter out of his pocket and held it up for Radriarc to see. "He's creating a... coalition of sorts."
