Hoid the Former Drifter he/him Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 She only eats bread one night out of every 2. So what? Is this based on the verse in Deuteronomy that says "For man cannot live on bread alone"? 1
Hoid the Former Drifter he/him Posted July 30, 2020 Author Posted July 30, 2020 So why does William Ann interpret this the way she does?

Weltall Posted July 31, 2020 Posted July 31, 2020 (edited) Silence swears by the God Beyond, so I think it's pretty safe to say she dues believe in a god. Edited July 31, 2020 by Weltall

She tells William Ann very plainly that she believes in the God Beyond, she just doesn't worship because she doesn't see a point to it. That's not agnosticism and I see no reason not to take her at her word, especially when her own inner monologue also sees her invoking the God Beyond, even if she's not actively praying. 2
pjmaster78 Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 Also when she's shouting into the forest when William Ann is near death, I believe she mentions that she's not sure whether she's shouting at the shades, the God Beyond, or her grandmother 1
Eternal Khol he/him Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 She also mentions that she so often thinks of her grandmother and the God Beyond as the same 2
I Am A Fish he/him Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 It's easy to believe in a higher power, it helps things make sense.

Agnosticism isn't just about not being sure about the existence of god/s but also the nature of god. It's basically someone whose view can be summed up as "I'll find out when I'll find out, till then I'm going to go about my day". Cursing by the name of various assorted dieties is often simply a thing of habit.
