If you put maple syrup and peanut butter (in that order) on toast, you get a gourmet flavor reserved for gods only.

Why do i keep wanting to touch lava.

Is it because it glows?  Is it because it looks like putty occasionally?  Will I ever know?

Anybody else avoiding ROW chapters?

Why are you avoiding it (the ROW chapter, not the lava)?

Well, if I read sneak peaks, I have a bad habit of skipping everything in the sneak peak when I get the actual book, because, 'I know this, let's go already!'  And I don't want to do that for Rhythm of War.

Also, I don't get the newsletter or anything, so there's also that.  But.  I just want to read the whole book at once.

And touch lava.

I think Brandon is going to release all of the Part 1 of the book? It can hardly be called a sneak peak.

True.  But the idea remains the same, for me at least.

The way I see it, we already started reading the book. The pace will just be faster once it comes out.

I’m avoiding them too. I like the wait, because it makes the actual book a lot better for me. It makes me feel like I “worked” for it. I say “worked” because I have to actively avoid the ROW board. My thumb will just take me there sometimes subconsciously and it’s painful to look away.

Yeah, I’m avoiding spoilers too

I just want to go in completely blind, no hints, no expectations

I did read

Spoiler

The syl interlude

And I know that

Spoiler

People seem to dislike gavilar all of a sudden?

But that’s it. The only reason I know that is because spoiler threads still show up in the “unread messages” area

which I think is mildly a problem.

not sure if I exist rn.

Yay existential crisis

Posted

Yesterday I had a shower thought for a pretty terrifying premise.
A god with an existential crisis.
could probably write a good story on that.

Favorite existential dread inducing thought experiment, go.
Spoilered because some people consider it an infohazard, but I don’t take it seriously

Spoiler

I think it’s called Roko’s Basilisk, and the idea is that if a sufficiently powerful AI was created in a sufficiently powerful computer, it could simulate all of existence leading up to that point, down to the smallest particle movement. So, even though the AI doesn’t exist yet, it knows what you are currently doing. Now, say the AI decides to destroy anyone who didn’t actively help in its creation. Completely ignorant people would be spared, but you wouldn’t be. You now know about the AI, and if you choose to do nothing to help create it, you are at risk, and the AI would destroy you.

it’s a kinda dumb thought experiment, but I do like the idea of a thing that doesn’t exist yet, being able to know what you are currently doing. It only exists in the future, but it knows the present.
Some people apparently get really terrified by this and actually are trying to create this AI, in the hopes that they’ll be spared.
