Then stooped down to pick up his heavy staff. “Usually, when I meet with other riders I engage in a friendly spar. Anyone dare?” "I'd be game, but I'm a bit busy trying to work out this alliance," Stephen said. "Professor X only does Pokemon battles, but perhaps you could try asking Stefan? He likes to duel. Yo, Stefan!" The man in high-tech knight's armor walked on over. "What you want from me, eh?" he asked, in an accent. "You want me to fight?" "It's what you've done you're whole life, right?" Stephen asked. "Go ahead, engage in his traditions." "Aye," said Stefan, "It'd be my pleasure, man." He extended a hand towards him. "Sorry, didn't catch your name?"

And what are these strange looking leathers you have on?”
Knight of Iron she/they Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Just now, STAG said: “Merl, herald of Dax, the rainmaker.” He tentatively takes Stefan’s hand. “You are one of these knights I assume? And what are these strange looking leathers you have on?” Stefan grinned. "Aye, that I am. Pleasure to meet ya, Merl. Now these, it's the strongest metal on the planet I come from. Armor light enough for me to still utilize my martial arts training. I have a helmet, too."
STAG Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Quote A little exposition: Merl’s world is extremely primitive. Their most advanced technology are their “fortifications”. Defenses that are designed to keep the great beasts from accidentally trodding on tribes. There are no storms, because incredibly large trees (big beasts, big trees, see the pattern?) block most major winds, but when one of the beasts comes near, they disturb the leaves of those trees. The leaves hold water, making it pour heavily underneath. Beasts feet also bring up large rocks whenever they take a step, making it dangerous to be close. Merl was chosen as a “rider”. They are prophets to the beasts that had duties lost to time. Merl only recently rediscovered that as a rider, he can communicate thoughts with his patron beast and even draw from the power that sustains it’s strength. Using that power takes it from Dax, so if he holds it for long Dax will be crushed under his own weight and the power is gone. Incredible. So ornate. My staff here is worth boasting about as well. An old splinter, of Kermund thunderstriker’s jaw bone. When I ask Dax for his strength, it tricks the old powers into giving the staff strength also. No matter how much strength I put into a swing, it will not break.

This will be a welcome change.” Merl steps into a stance, closing his eyes and muttering some words. ”the great rainmaker is so distant. This battle will will be a little more difficult without being able to see through his eyes. But he conveys he is ready for the pain of a fight. If I yield, please, don’t prolong the engagement.” Quote Any immediate thoughts on the character? Sorry, I like feedback.

If I yield, please, don’t prolong the engagement.” Stefan stepped into stance, bouncing a bit to keep himself light and fast on his toes, as he was taught. A sharp ring echoed as he removed his sword from its sheath, a silvery shortsword glimmering with all colors, with a studded black hilt and short guards on each side. He spun it around a bit—which seemed to be a common thread between some of the Knights—then lifted it properly. “I wouldn’t dream of it; I’ll stop as soon as you say. You can say when, eh?” Quote I like the world building so far! It’s a great concept and makes me look forward to future interactions. And the character may be quite primitive, but in my opinion it is the limitations that make a character interesting, far more than their abilities. No immediate constructive criticism.
STAG Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 (edited) “Then let’s begin.” Merl took a deep breath, and his muscles grew tight, like he was flexing every part of his body. No incredible physical change came over him, except that light seemed to start to emanate from him, very faintly. I almost looked like a a great fire was immediately behind him, so he threw shadows against the trees with his every move. He opened his eyes, and SLAMMED his staff into the ground. A crater immediately appeared in a ring around him, spreading slowly like a wave of rocks from the force of his strike. He relaxed, letting the glow fade, and threw himself into a defensive stance. Quote Merl essentially gets all the strength of the creature packed into his considerably smaller body, which, as you could guess, makes him wicked strong. That’s pretty much the extent of his powers. Longer than a few seconds of that and Dax could be permanently injured. So he’ll turn it off and on as he needs. Edited August 14, 2021 by STAG
Flaming Coinshot he/him Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 (edited) Quote So, is Craven a knight, is he with the Lashai, or is he going with Martin? Also, I agree with Knight. I love the magic system idea. Crispin and Jers watched the proceedings with intrest. As he always did, he was cataloguing the various people. He could tell that Fadran, Queen, Martin, and this being Nath had been around for a while, could see the obvious bonds between the knights, and could see how his soldiers were reacting. Probably going to have to call in another Company soon. Both of them watched as Merl prepared to fight, and Crispin watched with amusement as Jerl itched to join the fight. "A 'Knight' is just a reference to the sDNA Aura K1-917, a spirit found in multiple universes. We band together, even if one of us is a cat, because our powers, abilities, and skills are more powerful when we're together. Thus, we are the Knights, and despite our differences we are still, somehow, in some weird way, the same. However, we've always room for alliances or assistants." “Oh.” Craven said. “I don’t think I’m that kind of spirit.” He would know if he was, right? Quote Craven will ask to join any organization he hears about, out of habit and reflex- what he would pick to do out of the options is go with Martin.

Bringing most people would require some sort of acclimation period, twenty-four hours minimum to understand how Earth works, and the severity of keeping hidden. Factor in the time it can take to organize any kind of medical procedure, finding the money for said procedure, and keeping it all under the table? At least a week." Martin rubs the back of his head. "I have a few favors that I might be able to call in that could speed things up, but I can't count on any of it, given how I left." Channelknight Fadran Posted August 14, 2021 Author Posted August 14, 2021 Fadran nodded. "In that case... I guess we could send Ayia along with you. She said she owed you a date anyways."
Spren of Kindness she/her Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 "So, Queen, Ayia, and Craven? You think that's enough?"
Channelknight Fadran Posted August 14, 2021 Author Posted August 14, 2021 "Hopefully. Maybe just you and Ayia if we need to keep things covert."
