Doesn't seem to be working very well.

Trevor grabbed the cat's face and shoved it aside. Tarnished knives, that little boy is joining a revolution while I'm cowering in the corner fighting a kitten for my lunch! I've got to do something about this.

Standing, Trevor announced, "I'm sure you all would be very grateful to have my fine assistance, as well. I can do about anything you need, just tell me what it is. My abilities can assist me in facing about any challenge."

The cat hissed and jumped on his face.

"What kind of abilities?" Konrig asked. "Canst thou fight with an sword?"

Trevor growled. I'll show you, he thought to the cat. He held out his hand, waiting as water gathered, gaining weight until it was enough to drench the cat as he threw it off. The cat went flying across the room, and Trevor turned to Konrig, "Swords? No. That: yes. And some other tricks, too. One of my favorite being the ability to cut out part of a wall, crawl through, and reseal it like nothing happened. A bit more tricky, but great for sneaky ops."

Martin nods.  "Right.  Who all would 'we' be?"  His minds spins, trying to figure out logistics.

"Ayia wanted to come with you, but she's kinda needed on the battlefield." Fadran shrugged. "Is there anyone else that you trust as much as her?"

Martin hesitates.  "Ayia... already knows what's going on," he says carefully.  "I haven't really told anyone else, and I'd rather not."  A fine job he's doing of this.

"So... wall cutting..." Stephen said, "Let's see. Say you were to battle a dragon or something, how would you go about that?"

They were suddenly interrupted.

"Leave Redstripe alone!" cried Lane, raging fire in his eyes, who appeared behind Trevor in a quick flash of green light, now dual wielding Rubik's cubes. The cat dashed out of the way, hissing angrily.

Merl picks up the cat

”what is this small, angry beast. Oh great small one, your will be done. What would you have me do?”

"I'm pretty sure that Queen knows."

"Not all of it."  Though some of it, he's willing to explain.  "I trust her.  What about Craven?"  He isn't entirely sure that bringing a kid on this expedition is a good idea.

"Depends.  Who's coming with?  What are we talking in terms of magic concealment?  Bringing most people would require some sort of acclimation period, twenty-four hours minimum to understand how Earth works, and the severity of keeping hidden.  Factor in the time it can take to organize any kind of medical procedure, finding the money for said procedure, and keeping it all under the table?  At least a week."  Martin rubs the back of his head.  "I have a few favors that I might be able to call in that could speed things up, but I can't count on any of it, given how I left."

The cat yowls and wriggles out of his grip, scratching deep into his arms as he did so. He dropped to the ground, dug his claws into the ground, arched his back and hissed.

"He... doesn't like to be picked up," Stephen said, "He hates the touch of humans. He is his own cat. I do have a magic translation collar if you want to talk to him."

EmLee turned her head to the sound of the kitty cat. “Awwwwwwww! I love cats! Who does the kitty belong to? Can I pet her? Or is it a him?” EmLee summoned a bit of Starlight and held it out to the cat- Animals were usually intrigued enough to come close enough so she could form a bond with them.

The cat, Redstripe, turned to the girl and tilted his head, staring at the light. But he didn't come any closer.

"He's ours," Stephen said, "He's grown up with a seething hatred of humans, it's taken him a long time to warm up to us. Don't take it personally—and don't try to pet him."

Translation collar? What is this wizardry?

"Well, he's one of us," Stephen blinked. "He's a Knight. A magic translation collar seemed in order, though he doesn't like to wear it."

A… a member of your order? You restrained a creature to the bonds of your group? Or did he express his will to you, telling he wants to bless your order?

"We hooked me up to a spiritual multiversal compass of my invention that detected my spiritual DNA in this cat in a different multiverse," Stephen explained, "So we showed up and, through magic communications, were able to explain ourselves to it. He'd considered his life full and we were able to artificially extend his short lifespan. His name's Redstripe, used to live in the woods or something."

“Can I be a Knight?”

Hmm. What does being a knight entail?

Stephen smiled. "A 'Knight' is just a reference to the sDNA Aura K1-917, a spirit found in multiple universes. We band together, even if one of us is a cat, because our powers, abilities, and skills are more powerful when we're together. Thus, we are the Knights, and despite our differences we are still, somehow, in some weird way, the same. However, we've always room for alliances or assistants."

“That seems like quite a tale, but I’m not used to these long conversations.” Merl stood up and stretched his back. Then stooped down to pick up his heavy staff. “Usually, when I meet with other riders I engage in a friendly spar. Anyone dare?”
