Trevor whimpered as he bent awkwardly, glancing at Stephen as he kicked the spatula to a little corner where he then huddled, cradling his hands to his chest.

“Sorry about that silly child,” said Stephen, “We try to keep him under control.”

"Yeah, it's Queen. Who am I?" She shrugged. "A member of the Fellowship. That's it, mostly."

...are we ready to split yet?

The cat darted in from behind Stephen and scratched at Trevor's lunch box, hissing. The cat tried to jump up onto it and free it from Trevor's grasp.

Crispin sighed. "All right, new people aside, as I understand it, Stephan's got the knights, I've got the revolution, and...what else?" Him and the soldiers looked very guarded and tense due to the large influx of people.

"Wait—what revolution? At your place?" Stephen asked.

"No, the reason the entire LIEF is here. The revolution against Fjordell, and eventually the two intergalactic empires."

"Ah, right. Though, minor correction, I'm sure there are far more than two intergalactic empires—it's an infinite multiverse of infinite possibilities, so we could be dealing with infinite intergalactic empires."

"Right. But earlier, before you got here, Fadran told me that the reason they haven't acted yet is because of two intergalactic empires that are backing Wyrn, so those are the ones that I'm talking about."

Craven poked his head into the building just in time to hear the word revolution. All hesitancy he harbored instantly vanished.

"Revolution? Can I join?"

I guess I should say for the people who joined after I dropped off- Craven is eight years old, so treat him as such :P

"Umm..." Crispin hesitated, but a soldier without some teeth but a sincere smile walked up to Craven and knelt down to him. "What canne do kid?"

"A lot!" Craven said, then frowned, remembering how he had cowered in a corner during the last attack.

No, not cowering. Self-preservation.

"Camelia gave me 50 Breaths, too!" He continued, forcing his usual smile back on.

Quote

50 Breaths=First Heightening=Nothing of note, but Craven doesn't know that.

He's obsessed with not being a coward, but he doesn't tell anyone that. He's not super good at hiding visual clues though (hence the frown) but you only have to call it out if you want to.

I'm working on explaining my characters in my About Me, which I will link in my signature... so people can easily refresh on who they're talking to. Oh the curses of having eight characters.

Aight, sounds great Knight!

The soldier smiled. "50 breaths? And on a talented young lad like you? We could do with talent like that in the 4th battalion." He smiled. "We're all Awakeners, ya see. We could help ay out, maybe get ya in battle shape so that you can help out!" Crispin just facepalmed. The soldier continued. "I'm Jers, from the 4th."

Craven nodded thoughtfully. "I'm a good walker, too."

Craven's eyes got wider with every word. A grown-up actually letting him do something? Amazing!

"Yay! I'm Craven, though I don't like that name."

"Craven, huh? Well, prove yourself well and we'll give you a real nickname." Crispin was ready to launch into a child endangerment speech, and then decided to talk to Jers alone.  later. Jers smiled at Craven. "So? Whaddya say?"

"Ever thought of choosing a new name?" Kelly asked.

Craven had considered giving himself a new name multiple times- more than he'd like to admit. It didn't seem like something that was right to do, or made sense. But it was more than that. If he wasn't Craven anymore, then he wouldn't have any reason to be brave. He'd have nothing to prove.

"No." He said.

One more piece of Craven backstory, sorry :P One of the meanings of the name Craven is 'cowardly'. That's why he's obsessed with not being that.

"Alright, you're choice, kid. Also, don't be too quick to sign up for military service," Kelly continued, "Make sure you know the terms and conditions. You usually have to sign a good chunk of your life away. Not saying this is like that, just be careful."

EmLee smiled at all the people who were eating and liking her casserole, but then she was confused at what the Stars was going on.

So she ate another bowl of casserole. Then retrieved from her satchel a Megaminx Rubix dodecahedron and began to scramble and solve it.

“Craven, a battle is an ugly place. As little as I know about the art, I DO know that I want to avoid it. And there’s no cowardice in that.”

Should I explain any parts of my character, or just let it slip out over time?

"Isn't that the truth," answered Kelly, "Not that I've seen real battle, but I've heard tales."

I find a balance between whatever feels natural, explaining things as needed, or just leaving them a little vague and mysterious.

“I’ve seen only one common battle. Between the lightning and the bodies flying, a sense of real insignificance sets in. The great beasts had much more power over our lives than even we would ever admit.”

“Now what kind of life have you lived, to avoid such terrors?”
