My body heaves softly as I cry. An emotionless laugh grabs me and delivers a thousand blows to my sobbing form.  Bones splinter within me and utter agony takes flight. Again and again I curl into a ball as I am mercilessly assaulted. The whole world is lost to me. Repeatedly I am stricken. Every portion of my body is aflame. Total darkness surrounds me and I am sinking in field of bones. Ivory is stark against the shadows that grow deeper around me. Drumbeats beat against the inside of my skull.

"Did you think that you were going to win? A mortal bug like you will burn away before me." The whispering voice permeates the landscape. Images of a figure in a hoodie and one who is winged appear. They are throne to the ground and cry out. In moments they are one with the sea.

I cry out. I cannot breath. Deeper and deeper I descend until I can see nothing at all. A tomb holds me tight. Every movement is like my flesh being seared from bone. My heart speeds up almost impossibly. Rivers of sweat pools across my face. Faces appear to me mocking my existence. My daughter and wife are in agony. They were destroyed in the war that I caused. All that I can do is cry. Salty tears drip and drop among the grinning eyeless prison.

My eyes open and I am drenched with sweat. Tears spill down my face. My breathing is almost unnaturally loud in the quiet tent. The exhaustion that had taken hold is gone, but my heart races. Tremors of terror take my every limb.

Fox gripped her knife, feeling the urge, the need to tear something apart. The tumulus anger like a nest of cockroaches swarming in the core of her chest, gnawing away at her insides. She wanted to scream. There was sudden movement, and Fox's alert eyes snapped toward the motion. Nath had awakened, and was shivering and crying quietly. Fox felt that strange mixture of being overwhelmed of emotion, yet hollow of it at the same time, and something... melted. Without thinking, she strode over to his cot, and kneeled down beside it. She then took his hand in her trembling own, and placed it against her icy cheek. As the terror washed through her like waves, Fox's tears came out like a trickle of a dying stream. She opened her mouth, but then closed it. She did not have the strength to speak. She shook not like a leaf, but like a washing machine that was off balance.

Someone walked into the camp.

He physically looked exactly like Enter in every way, but there was something unquantifiably, profoundly, undeniably wrong

When Enter saw this, he paled. "What are you doing here? Who are you? What are you?"

The newcomer responded. "I am you. I am the you that could have been."

"That doesn't answer my question."

"You'll figure it out." He smiled, took a step backwards, and disappeared.

Cold and contact shocks me to the depths of my now mortal soul. Our shaking seems to sync and connect on a wavelength beyond my understanding. It almost seems to feed on itself and provide a moment of solace. The horror flowing through me slows. I turn my head and look into Fox's eyes. Numbness threatens to rise and shove my head beneath unforgiving waves. She is alive. I dreamt a lie. My visions are falsehood. I reach out to the warmth at the edges of the room. I draw steady streams of warmth to me and allow them to flow through my hands. I soften the heat and direct it over her as a loose garment. A box of rage and horror drops to the depths of her comfort. Words flee from my tongue and I can only allow my eyes to deliver the words that my mouth cannot.

"What was that?"  Martin demands, staring at where the man had disappeared.  "Because that was uncomfortably close to the Eon strike buildup."

Pretty sure he's still near Enter, so.

"I... have no idea." Enter was clearly going through about a million possibilities a second. Then, realization dawned on him. "Everyone! Everyone! We need to talk!"

Yikes, that sounded bad.

Vale turns away from his contemplating towards Enter. He makes a note to talk to Herate (@Condensation) when he gets a chance.

Duly noted.

"What, what is it?" asks Herate.

Daolan walks to her side, confusion evident on his face.

Not knowing what to do, Wrenden grabbed one of Taln's arms and started hauling him back to camp. Sulfur, that man was heavyThis might take a while.

Wrenden pulled Taln's unconscious form into camp, then set him down and walked over to Enter. "What is it? Also, does anyone know what happened to Taln? He ran away, and then I found him unconscious."

"No, I have no idea. Is there anyone with medical knowledge that can help him?"

"I already tried what I know. There isn't any physical damage. It's probably mental."

"Are you sure?" Herate asked. "Do you think Herial can help?"

"Wait - who's Herial?"

Herate looked down for a moment. "I... made her."

Daolan stared at Herate. "Another Essence Mark? I thought I told you not to make any more!"

"Well, I was bored. She's helped a lot, though!"

Fox quivered, but used all of her strength to lock onto father's eyes. On the one hand, Fox wanted the terror to be gone eternally, yet on the other hand, she could live in this warm moment forever.

As the sun began to set, Daolan looks up. "Looks like it's about time to quit for the day. Can I help anyone with their sleeping arrangements?"
