The shadows let out screeching howls. As if they are being stung by a legion of invisible hornets they leap off of Vapor and begin to flee. Gouts of flame burst from their bodies. The landscape glows as violent fires burn. Heat scorches the land the skies are seemingly ignited. They turn back suddenly and race toward her still howling.

Vapor watches them flee, then turn towards her. Something clicks, and she smiles and narrows her eyes, pushing her power towards the beasts again, focusing it like she had before.

"Hey Jek, can we discuss this?"

@Vapor

Jek looked up. "What?"

So, Vapor...

Have you read the backlog?

Yes. But Jek hasn't been paying attention.

We're literally talking about his girlfriend's fate. How is he not paying attention?

Because he's been thinking about exactly that for the past (uh I don't know how long it's been)

"What is there to discuss? We find the mindscape, take Vapor from Rish before Rish pollutes her memories, and get her memories back."

Jek sighs. "I know. Just... She's one of the only things that's ever mattered to me, and the thought of Rish, who I haven't even met, controlling her every move..." He trails off.

"Generally, anyone who is controlling another person needs to be stopped,"  Martin says, walking onto the deck and leaning against the wall.  He's found a hair tie somewhere, and his red hair is braided neatly.

"What do you think we should do?"

"How did you get that?"

"A shadow gave it to me," said Jeffery. "How the shadow got it, I don't know. Likely Fate was involved somehow."

"How do you get into a dreamscape?"

"You fool it into thinking you're supposed to be inside," said Decrin.

Wrenden continued eating soup, pretending he had been here the entire time. It was an interesting situation. He knew how to induce amnesia, but this memory stealing sounded like a different, much more complicated thing. How did you trick a location, assuming that's what this mindscape was, into thinking you belong there?

"Is Vapor still in the mindscape? If so, do we need to make it think we're Vapor?"

I have no idea what any of this is. Fortunately, Wrenden doesn't either.

I forgot a quotation mark. Good thing I fixed it before Connie saw.

Vale wondered who all these new people were but decided not to mention it.

I joined very recently, but I only posted about once every two pages, so you wouldn't have seen him much.

That's my point. A bunch of people keep joining so Vale is like "Eh, I'll meet them all eventually"

"We can't just walk in then. Do you think we could bait them out?"

"It's her most defensible position," said Jeffery. "It's highly likely she'll keep Vapor there for the foreseeable future."

The figures lift off of the ground as a wave of raw power slams into them. Cracks rapidly spread through their forms. They let out a final cry and in an explosion of energy they are shattered. A surge of something which cannot be defined races outward from where they had been. Everything in the mindscape seems to gain greater definition. Rot and mold fade away as richness drives them out. Broken beauty to restored to its former glory. All breaches leap to connect to its neighbor. The walls surrounding the mindscape become as they once were imposing and impregnable. Battlements cursed with the most horrific seals climb for eternity. Foundations thicken and descend into the endless abyss. Spiritual wounds heal and deny any entrance from below. Shadows melt away. Light floods the realm filling the dark spaces. Above the moon glows ever brighter. Calm settles over the wood. Any trace of the fires that had burned vanish. Smoke is a dream.

Rish smiles genuine joy reflecting outward. "You have healed this realm and taken the first step to true power." She frowns as she sees Vapor's wounds. In the blink of an eye she appears beside Vapor. She mutters a few words. "That should heal your injuries. You have done well this day. All worlds have found in you a restorer of balance. You should be proud of yourself." She pauses for a moment. "I name you equal to mine own children for what you have done. I cannot raise you to divinity. However, I shall personally petition my grandparents Sorcery and Magics to make it so. Furthermore, should you wish it this realm can be your home. All places within this mindscape are yours to explore. Welcome home."
