Are we going to pretend like Vale wasn't watching this whole exchange because he was. I don't know why I keep getting forgotten but ok I guess :P

I knew you were there, the Fox motioned to those around her to turn around. I assume you did too?  Hm? Hmmmmm?

She shrugged. "I am just The Fox. Is that not all I need?"

"It's not supposed to be a leading question." Fadran reassures her. "Names, identities, Spirits... they're what I specialize in. I try my best to learn about others--or help others learn about themselves."

You're not being forgotten! The thought of ignoring the one and only Negative_Null apalls me!

Yeah, Null; you did, right?

It sounded like you were just talking to Fadran. He did, the author is just a moron.

You said "The Fox hands over her two knives to Fadran, and then makes a motion with her finger to turn around."

"Ah." The Fox didn't know what to think about that. Nobody had ever wanted to learn about her since Alice. What should she do? If she started thinking about the broken-ness of her life, would she return to that cold un-escapable well of emotion? No. She would not return. The Fox returned her gears to neutral.

"So, what have you learned of me so far?" What, whaaaaaaaa? She literally had just decided to not talk about herself or her past! The darned mouth of hers had a mind of its own when she felt comfortable. Is that what she felt around these people? Comfortable?

"Your past, like many others, is troubled." Fadran begins. "What has happened to you in the past has shaped you to be the way you are now. Particularly, you're hesitant around things you don't fully understand; including us. You... also try to hide. Not from others, but from yourself. There are things you fear you can't escape."

The Fox shifts uncomfortably. Hide? She didn't hide. She faced her problems head on, yes she did. She realizes she never got her knives back from Fadran. She reaches out to take them. "Hm. So who are you, Fadran? What past events have shaped you?"

Fadran hands her the knives. "Me? Oh, I'm quite complicated. I wasn't much of a real person for awhile: spent my life flitting from one leaf on the wind to the next. I started finding out who I was when I started studying some ancient magical arts: Spiritcalling, in particular." He realized that she probably had no idea what that was. "Oh, uh... Spiritcalling is a thing I do where I look into your Spirit and... well, tell you about yourself. I've done it to a few people here--it's something I try to avoid unless someone asks me to do it for them, though I do like collecting their names." He pulled out one of the names written on a piece of paper from his pocket: his most recent. "My life got really confusing after that; there was this deity guy I Bonded with, a couple wars I fought in, explored the Macrosmos. Sufficeth to say I could be here all day just trying to get through all that.

"You're asking who I am now, though." Fadran says. "I'm... not actually sure. Recent events have shaken me, taken the sculpture I thought was finished and changed it. I've been subconciously trying to find out who I am right now, but it's complicated enough that it'll probably take me awhile."

"Should we be running, at this point?" Fadran asks. "It's not exactly like danger to pass us by."

Despite myself I dismiss one of my blades, smile, and clap Fadran on the shoulder. " I do. You are capable. Having an expert as a teacher cannot hurt."

"I'm not sure. I don't know if my life has been good or bad, just... my life. You can't miss what you don't have." That was somewhat true, but the Fox did feel emptiness from time to time.

Just now, Spren of Kindness said:

"Maybe we should smile and greet danger as friends?"

"That's how I usually do it. Most of the time."

"Probably. We have a number of ways to get to another world if we want to try that rather than running across this one, but not only might it follow us, but we might not be able to get back without fighting it anyway."

I believe Nathan is telling Fadran of something called a ‘reality marble’, (I explained this to null on a PM before Nathan’s was ever mentioned btw) but by the way, if you want a spoiler read this

Spoiler

Are you sure? It has to do with Winter

Spoiler

I suppose I should tell all since I already told Null

Spoiler

Winter uses his own reality marble to travel

But his is much more complex than Nathran’s, and he used many methods to break the system of... many things

The Fox itched to pull out her knives and begin full out attacking these people. They were making her open up with them. She was bordering on vulnerability, and that was dangerous. How to respond to it?

"I'm not sure," she said to quell the questions. But she knew the real answer. She would do almost anything. She had done almost everything.

Also, I might need to leave for, like, an hour, and then come back, just as a warning. We'll see if it happens or not though.

It's actually very clever but I'll explain it in character if/when it comes up

"That hill up there will give us a bit of an advantage. It's backed up to the water so he can't try and get around us"

It didn't take a master Spiritcaller to see that she was uncomfortable... which only meant that Fadran, a master Spiritcaller, was very aware of this. "Your life is your own." He repeated. "You don't have to share it with anybody if you don't want to."

Oh yeah I my message made it sound like I thought you copied it so sorry and don’t worry that’s not what I thought

I was just excited that there was someone to talk to about ‘reality marbles’ or whatever you call them, because that is a concept I understand

"I hope so. Now is not the time for fun lessons. The first lesson is boxing sensations. In battle as that which approaches the key is outlasting your opponent. You will feel tired, heat, cold, pain,  or even despair. If you give into these you will fail." I call a concentrated sphere of heat. "If your mind is truly ready capture the heat." I backup and launch the sphere at him."

Fadran prepares himself, closing his eyes and letting his mind slip from anything material. When the heat came, his body felt it, but not his mind.
