Ene is prepared to follow the others through, lingering quietly at the back of the group as usual. She knows she should integrate herself more, get to know people, but the thought is tiring - how are the rest of them managing social interaction in the middle of all this fighting and danger?

Kindness goes through the Parralarity.

Strangely, she finds her way blocked by an invisible wall.

Ene reached one hand forward and poked at the wall, wondering if it would still be there for her.

Vapor waved sadly at the others. "Goodbye," she said.

"We'll see each other again." Fadran replied, even before he could think about what he was saying. "Goodbye, Vapor."

"You can stay with me at the lab."

Vapor walks back to her dad. "Do you know where mom is?"

"Elsewhere," said her father vaguely. "She's working on collecting stuff for our experiments."

Grace dashed down the corridors in mime HQ, her ponytail bouncing up and down as she raced towards the Situation Room. Red lights flashed on the walls, and a loud warning siren blared. Something was happening. And given the situation they were currently in, it couldn't be good.

She skidded around the final corner and through the door to the room where a group of the senior mimes were sitting around a holographic table, deep in discussion. Red and blue lights hovered above the table, connected with light white lines. A universe map.
What's going on? she asked.
Her father looked up, his face grave. There's been an attack.
Where? she demanded.
Everywhere, he said wearily.
Grace stared at the map. Indeed, black blips hovered around almost all of the lights. Not terribly many of each- this wasn't a full scale invasion- but enough to be worried about.
So many? she gasped.
Yes, said her father grimly. And organized, too.
She stared at them, stunned. We... have enough people to deal with this, right?
Barely, said her father. This was intended as a distraction. He breathed a heavy sigh. There's more. Prisoner #1 has escaped to another world.
Grace's eyes widened.
We've narrowed down the possibilities, continued her father, and locked them down. He won't be escaping again. He sighed. We hope.
Which ones? said Grace, looking intensely at the red lights in the display. The red ones?
Yes, said her father, but-
But Grace had vanished.

Both of them find the invisible wall in their way as well.

Hmm... ninjaing a ninja'd ninja? We have created a deadly circle.

"What's the matter," Fadran says out loud, "too scared for us to leave?"

"Is this like Tazeroth?  We have to leave this place before we can use a Parralarity?"

Drop in wherever, I guess.  You could fall from the ceiling while we figure out the portal malfunction, maybe?

Truth is coming back! What would be a good place for me to materialize?

Uhh... anywhere, I guess.

Ene studied the wall. “Okay,” she muttered. “Who’d have the power to do this? Some deities. All Authors. Narrators...most Narrators.” She scowled to herself. “The mimes, I’m pretty sure. Sensation or someone with that instinct, technically. An Epic. Possibly an Elantrian. Could a Forger...?” Her voice trailed off as she considered. “This could be a lot of things, but is most likely a Narrator, mime, or Epic.” She tested the wall again. “Since we don’t know the motivation, my assumption is going to be a mime. Maybe we broke the fourth wall too much.”

"What's a mime, exactly?"  Kindness asks.

“They’re the people with special Silent powers who seal up and take care of the fourth wall in some roleplays,” Ene explained. “You see them most often in the universes of The Longest Thread (Universe Prime) or The Cosmic Battle to Save the Thread (Universe S), though I think they originated in the Alleyverse. Some are characters, and I think some might be Narrators too. And then there’s Silence, their leader, I think. I don’t know much about him - he’s rather scary, so I try to avoid him.”
