Halyo_Alex he/him Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 How about Mourning? (inb4 that shard somehow influenced the existence of the Bands of Mourning) 2
Krafl Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 I would like it to be Endurance: the intent, in this case, would be focused on bearing sufferings and tribulations and learning from them. 1
Karger he/him Posted June 24, 2020 Posted June 24, 2020 Some thoughts. I think anguish is an important part of compassion(like Sadness in inside out). Perhaps their world is some kind of underdark where you survive the mental torments by your capacity to feel the sorrow of others Maybe their magic can only be accessed by personal sacrifice?

That feels eerily close to the Survival shard train of thought. Just a note, not a critique. 1
teknopathetic he/him Posted September 16, 2022 Author Posted September 16, 2022 (edited) Now that we have so many new shard names, i wonder if Anguish/Sorrow is still possibly a thing or became another shard? Edited September 16, 2022 by teknopathetic
SwordNimiForPresident the sword/that sword Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 I'd say confirmed-ish is to strong. He basically said "that's a cool idea, you should go post that on the 17th Shard and have an interesting discussion about it". That being said, I would say that something at least Anguish adjacent is probably one of the two missing Shards. My personal pairing of the Shards leaves Mercy and Valor without complements. I could see Vengeance or Fear being possibilities, and both are at least tangentially related to anguish.
Rabbit Unmade she/her Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 I thought it was going to be Virtue, but I‘m probably wrong.

This may be a bit of a stretch, but hear me out: it seems at least somewhat plausible that Mercy had a pre-existing relationship with Ambition. Mercy is forced to “mercy kill” the mortally wounded Ambition, and in the process somehow transforms its intent into Anguish/Despair/Sorrow. Might correlate to harmony being so worried about their conversations, and perhaps why the Threnody planets are named after Eulogies. Edited September 29, 2022 by LiftisaDragon
