Y'all, I gotta know...

Have any of you sang (sung? singed? singen? sunger?) This Little Light of Mine yet?

I honestly can't quite imagine it in sacrament meeting...

. . . Wait, during Sacrament meeting?

No?

That seems like a strange song to sing 🤔

It's more like a camp song, y'know?

It is gonna be odd hearing it on the organ, but I’m less concerned about singing it in church and more concerned that when it is, it’ll be played like a funeral dirge.

I’m hoping that all the new spirituals being added means that Down to the River to Pray will be included, too.

Yup.  Once you know Brandon's a member of the Church, a lot of stuff in Mistborn, particularly The Hero of Ages, feels really obvious, in the sense of "no one who's not LDS could have written this."

And, sadly, a lot of the stuff in Wind and Truth looks a whole lot more confusing.  How could anyone who is LDS have written that?

Ok so question about missions.

I don't want to serve a mission.

But it seems that the way everyone talks about them you have to. I know they say it's a choice but people tend to speak like you'd be a disappointment if you dont. And whenever i even hint at not wanting to serve one people give me judging looks and start being like. Ohh but your serving god and it's the best thing ever. It feels like their trying to say im making a mistake by not wanting to serve a mission.

So... what's your opinions on this

I think . . . ultimately that it's between you and God, not you and your peers/family. There are other ways to serve God without going on a mission, and it's not right for everyone. There's a brother in my ward who never went on a mission (he's in his fifties now) and he says that he knows that's not what God intended for him.

So I would just pray about it, read some GC talks on it, study specific scriptures verses, etc . . .

No matter what everyone else says, though, it's not up to them. It's up to you and God.

Personally, I don't plan on serving a mission either. I don't think that's what's meant for me, and I feel like I have other places to be.
