I think this latest episode has caused me to lose my mind.

I'm utterly ecstatic, but also filled with dread,

Agreed. The episode was incredible, but we all know what’s coming.

They went all out with the animation for these final episodes. I love how the clones look like a mix between their updated form from the show and the CGI weirdness from the ROTS. Somehow Filoni makes it work, and work wonderfully! I was a little sad with how cool and distant Kenobi and Ahsoka's relationship was, but they're different people; and it's not like the care isn't there, they just have vastly different priorities and viewpoints.

Kenobi never really learned to focus on the moment.  He is also the guy the jedi broke the mold with which makes him more easily suckered by Sidious.

Welp, that was amazeballs! :o

It's kinda sad that the first 8 episodes of this season lasted...8 episides. They could have, at least, done the Son of Dathomir arc. It gets referenced (twice) in this episode, but it pretty much makes the Clone Wars story incomplete that an important story beat is only available in some comics.

I get that these last few episodes should be the most exciting, but provide some bridging between Maul getting tortured by Sidious and him being on Mandalore!

HO. LY. CRAP.

Not only was the episode beautiful, but that was possibly my new favorite lightsaber duel in all of Star Wars. Absolutely amazing, I can’t wait to see what comes next.

I know many people might not care, but did any of y'all catch that musical nod to Duel of the Fates in Maul vs. Ahsoka? That was pretty great, not gonna lie. Also, Kenobi going to Utapau? Anakin on the Jedi Council? Things are ramping up towards the climax of Revenge of the Sith

SAAAAAAAME!! It looked like a beautiful melding of TCW style action and PT style action in the most intricate, cinematic fight the show has ever done. I honestly believe they used motion capturing for that fight, because the way it looked was FAR too realistic for the show (or so it seems anyways)

I sort of did, but I probably was too engrossed in the action lol!

The touch points with ROTS were really surprising! For some reason I had this image of the whole show happening all at once, and then BLAM Order 66, with little tie-in to the movies until then. Thankfully that's not the case, but it still feels weird (but a good weird).

Star Wars Explained noted in their review that Dryden Voss was in this week's episode, when Maul met with the Shadow Collective.

They did! They even brought back Ray Park—Maul in The Phantom Menace—to give the fight more fluid realism. And how beautiful it was...

I very much appreciated Maul going all Rogue One Vader on the clones.

Oh boy that end of that final episode. That was...certainly something.

Spoiler

The fact that those final scenes are so powerful, and yet are completely without dialogue is a testament to the crew's cinematographic and musical talents.

It's made even worse by the

Spoiler

Rebels scene where Ashoka breaks his mask and finds out who Vader is and he doesn't even really stop attacking her from it.

In complete other Star Wars news, how about that upcoming SW movie by Taika Waititi?

I... my heart...

I honestly don’t know how to put my feelings into words. Those final two scenes were just so incredibly powerful.

Happy Star Wars Day! May the Fourth Be With You all!

Watched all four episodes back-to-back (I hadn't seen "Shattered," or "Victory and Death")  with my dad this morning. That was the perfect way to cap off the series. It was rough, it was sad, it was bitter. But it wasn't sour. Just...bitter. A bitter end to a senseless war. I. LOVED. IT.

Ended up watching Twilight of the Apprentice right after, because my dad loved the ending but was VERY upset about all of the unresolved aspects. I'll show him the episodes of Maul and Mandalore going forward.

On one hand, that's great news! Taika did great work on The Mandalorian and Thor: Ragnarok. He will probably do great work on Thor: Love and Thunder. His other stuff I haven't seen but they look pretty funny and quirky (I DO want to see Jojo Rabbit eventually). If his movie comes to fruition, it'll be a great addition to Star Wars.

On the other hand, if we take away the shine of Star Wars Day and strip away the shine of the other cool Star Wars things, this is another announced project that may or may not happen: Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ show is confirmed and was put on hold indefinitely before the pandemic became what it is; Colin Trevorrow, Josh Trank, and Benioff & Weiss were ALL tapped to write and/or direct a Star Wars movie, but we all saw how that turned out (admittedly not all of it was Lucasfilm's fault - B&W left the Disney deal to work with Netflix before being dropped there too). And even if the movie starts production well, that doesn't mean directors are safe - look at Solo (which I also love but I can't deny the controversy surrounding it). Rian Johnson's trilogy seems to be dead in the water (although I really, REALLY want it to happen).

Combine all of that with Star Wars movies "taking a break" for a couple of years, this just doesn't feel like the optimal time to announce this, and I'm very skeptical this will be made. I hate that I'm this skeptical and jaded with Star Wars movies now, but that's just how it is.

On the other OTHER hand, announcing projects ahead of time with surety is EXACTLY what I want from Star Wars. I want them to be so sure of their schedule that they aren't afraid to release info early, for them to stop being so cagey with what's coming next.

Gotta admit this final season bored me to tears.

This changed around Ep 8 or so. Just amazing. The mirror angle of Ashoka walking away from final conversation with Anakin with her angle from Rebels after the Temple of Malacor battle that so many people missed when the Ep was new. The music was like Tron or Blade Runner epic. The Ray Park mocap fight...holy rust dude... The slo roll Maul on Destroyer was even better then Vader in Tantive IV in RO.

Those poor clones.  What more can be said for them?  I feel bad for Ahsoka and I hate what this did to her but dam it all of those poor people that were created and used so causally.

Finally watched the whole season recently, and loved every minute of it.  It plays so well all as one piece as opposed to broken up week to week.  Beautiful stuff, and a reminder of what Star Wars can be when people who care about it make it.

While I generally consider The Clone Wars to be the best of Disney's Star Wars Era (along with the Mandalorian and Rogue One), I still miss the Legends Clone Wars Multimedia Project. To me, nothing will ever be able to match it in the Clone Wars time period, because it just flowed so well with the continuity, particularly in relation to the movies. I understand that this may be an unpopular opinion, but even after all these years I just can't see the Anakin portrayed in Filoni's Clone Wars and Anakin in the prequels as the same character.

I think that's very understandable. Personally, my head-canon to reconcile the two is that the voice we hear in TCW is Anakin's voice inside his head. Many people hear themselves differently than they sound, so why should Anakin be any different?
